Unboxing and Review of 2023 Hasbro Furby!

Furby 2023 is out! And here is a an unboxing and review of this furby. There are lots of things that are different from the former ones in 98 - 12, but some things are very similar to 2016's Furby Connect. See what has changed in this very thorough review. Its a bit on the long side to make sure I covered everything so that you know if the $70 investment is worth it for you. Please leave a comment or suggestion or question that you have on these furbs, and I'll do another (short) video to answer or show you what you wanted to know. Actually it says that you can unlock more "things" that they will do: songs, jokes, lightshows, etc....but its not clear if that means maybe even a skill? Its too early to know and the instructions are very meager.

When I saw it for the first time I had a bad impression. Despite everything, it reminds me a bit of my furby from the 90's, and as a person who suffers from panic attacks I found it interesting that it helps you relax. I honestly want to get it. x)

Not too crazy about Furby’s new voice. He sounds a bit too cutesy and cartoonish for me. But I admit it’s great to hear him talking without any grinding motors in the background! I can’t believe Furbies know how to meditate now … very cool! Thanks for the great review!

You are welcome! I was on the fence with this new furby, but honestly its a great addition if you are a collector. Its a must have now that its the 25th Anniversary imo. A bit pricey tho.

Oh! They kinda have all the generations of furbies meshed in! Hey furby was only on 2005 furbies before.. they have eyelashes like the older furbies.. and they have more modern features like the newer ones! So cool!

Im so happy they went back to the "non-LED eyes" and the lashes. I just don't get why the beak doesn't move. My favorite one was the 2005 furby: It had real soft ears and the best way of "showing emotion" in my opinion.

I don't think this is a replacement becuz like you said I think we all miss the old ones. I don't think there is a toy out there that can compete with the older furbies. I understand that. $70 is a lot rn for a lot of people - that is why I wanted to do this review. I would have liked it better if the mouth moved, but it does some very unique things that I didn't know that I would like: the meditation, the lightshow (making furby a great little night light) and the sweetest face. I wasn't sure I was going to keep them becuz I do love connects but its different enough that I decided to keep them. If I can answer any questions for you please let me know. Thanks for watching! Thank you for a greatly review! Well, what about Furby… I was looking forward to it for years, and now he is released. But, I am a bit disappointed, because there are a lot of hearts, rainbows and so on… I think, that Furby shouldn’t be firstly for girls, but for boys too. Thank you so much for your detailed and timely review! They are adorable, I love the eye art style- kind of reminds me of 80s toys like Magic Nursery Pets and PJ Sparkles Pets and such. I really like the light show and I love that the Furby has a little patter of responses so that a child (or Furb loving adult) could talk with it or hang out with it and really feel like the Furby is present and responding. I can't wait to get mine!

I think there's a lot to actually like here, in terms of the stuff they added. But it's a weird step back in other places, too. I think it's too far of a step back for the asking price of $70, especially in this economy. Very strange seeing a mainline Furby without a moving mouth. I do think the LED eyes gave it more expressive potential, too. I just have a 2012 and Boom. I missed out on older ones growing up, and I missed out on the Connect. I'm interested in seeing them tweak this some more. Maybe bring back the extra robotics that made the previous 3 more animated and allow for these to be (optionally) upgradable. Perhaps not just the software, but maybe even the hardware? And make that an opt-in thing, not compulsory, and learn from their experience with the Connect. The Furbies have always been full of potential. The future could be very interesting one way or another. Thanks for the review!

I don’t know, I don’t like the expressive eyes. Being blind, it takes away an aspect of something I can enjoy. The fluttering eyelashes are so satisfying to touch, it feels like a real animal, blinking their eyes. The fact that you don’t need to see to understand any aspect of this makes it an incredible toy! I never had a Furby when I was little, and always wanted one, so this made me really happy! I think the thing to understand is that they kind of made it so that it would be for a different generation of kids. It would’ve been nice if the mouth could move, but I guess they spent all the money on the 600 phrases that he can say. i’ve got to be honest though, if I had to choose, I would pick this one. I’ve seen videos of the older ones and I still think this one is better, but that’s just an opinion. It doesn’t mean that everybody agrees LOL

Great review, but I don't like this Furby. I am a little disappointed. He looks VERY cartoony and not like an animal anymore. And why doesn't it speak Furbish anymore? Why doesn't the mouth move anymore? Why doesn't he communicate with other Furbies? And his voice... Very annoying. I miss those features.

Supposedly the 2023s will interact well with each other, but I have no idea what they do together. So maybe that will be so great and amazing. I get why people dont like this one - but a new furby line in the future might fix it. They need time to adapt. The connect wasent that bad, it was modern, at its time. As a furby lover, i still like these. The ideas of calm are good, they just need to tweak it a bit. So its mixed for me. Great concept, but needs to be toned down a bit. Ill still get it though, look at the little fluff!

I gotta be honest, this is a letdown. Considering that it's a 25th anniversary release, and I've waited too long for a new and upgraded version of Furby. I would understand if this will be the new version of the Furblings, but it isn't, this is the official one. 😔 Guess I'm still stuck with my Furby Connect.

@@planettoybox finally my childhood dream As a kid I would've loved a crystal one, but I would've also settled with a regular boom one or 2012 one (though at that time furby booms were much easier to find than 2012 ones. The closest things I ever got to actual furbies were some furby slippers and Furby Boom Sticky which were figurines with a suction cup so they could stick anywhere and I even got the collector case backpack)

As far as talking - 2005 furby is a command driven furby that hears you speaking like the new one, but its a bit more animated than this one. Its the Emoto-tronic furby. You can find them 2nd hand on something like ebay, fb marketplace and mercari.

i feel like for 2023....this is outdated. and the eyes used to be digital and now it's not. if anything it felt like they're cutting cost and giving minimal features that have been around for decades. i dunno, i know it's a throwback and maybe trying to get appeal to people's nostalgia, but it's really having an issue with its positioning. is it a toy for kids or adults to collect? if for kids, this is just below the benchmark of what interactive toys are today

If you are truly a fan of animatronics/robotics - I'd say the Connect. But if you get 1 Connect you need to have 2 so that they can interact. They are amazing how they interact with each other. Its fun to watch. I was hoping for a similar situation with this 2023. However this one is truly adorable and does things on command like the mediation and the fortune telling...those are fun. I think the little meditation thing is so cute I'm posting videos of it just doing that so people can see how it changes as I unlock more features! New one today in fact!

I dont like how they visually look. I think theyre kinda ugly looking imo compared to the furby connects. Also no display for the eyes, which was the best part of the connects and booms. I overall think this was a step back. Theres nothing wrong with liking them, but i do think the overall design is worse. They look even more like gremlins now, I hate how tiny their face is, its like a chihuahua. And they seem to be really cheaply made, the connects were really quite advanced and nice feeling, but these look like theyd break quickly. I do not like the direction the new furbys are going in, they seem a little too “girly” in design too - not something i personally worry about but I know parents may think twice about buying them for their boys.

WTF?!! It's not a Fuby, it looks like a cheap knockoff. Eyes are not LED, mouth not moving, so few actions... It's almost as good as a Happy Meal Furby in the 90s

I agree with you Hasbro missed a few steps with this one...a moving mouth would have been cool...a tail and mane....even back lit eyes so we can see them in the dark while the ears are lit up in a darkened room!

TBH I wasn't thrilled at first either....thought it was cute, but didn't seem to be aesthetically the way I wanted a furby - sort of closer to the OG is what I was hoping for. But I'm working with it to see what else it unlocks as you use it and will be posting more videos. One today in fact...Zen Furby ;)

Thank you for watching.....its not for everyone, but it still has some redeeming features. I love the furbs from the past....and I'm going to do a comparison video of the Connect compared to this one. So come back when you can....love to hear your thoughts!

maybe, Who knows question but I feel like this is a pathetic cover the butt attempt to make up for the fact that they are pulling the Furby connect app. I wish they would have recreated the original 1998 Furby, since I never got to have one of those.
