My kids had original Furbies when they were young. I really thought they were clever! True story - my daughter's was named Walo (it told her it's name). Several months in, Walo started sneezing. Over and over. And then it said, I kid you not, "worried". And then it DIED. We did everything we could but it could not be revived. That was traumatic! Poor kid!

Oh this was years ago. But yeah she played with it all the time, and we did check batteries. It was just weird that it sneezed, said Worried quite clearly, then died

This was an intended feature of furby but the motor dying was just a coincidence haha! the old furbys could get "sick" if not fed consistently or consistently interacted with. They'll either say a random "Hungry" voice line or a random "Sick" voice line when they are unwell. (In your case the "Worried!" voice line) There's a way to cure the Furby through a balancing act of feeding it and interacting with it in different ways. Sounds like the motor gave out or something though! Really does sound traumatic.. LOL

I honestly prefer the original Furby line, but only for modification purposes! I modded my old Furby Baby (custom fur skin, ears, resin eye chips, and paint) and I’ve been wanting to do more, but the newer ones have those LCD screen eyes that are really hard to work with.

Something about this new Furby makes my heart happy, why is it actually cute. I had a purple heart Furby boom as a kid and it was so annoying that we ended up having to take out the batteries.

The furbies you and your sibling had seemed to be emototronic furbies! They were the next generation after the original 1998s, and were a result of hasbro buying the brand! Kids didn’t like them, they thought they were creepy😭 Hasbro eventually took them off the shelves, but because of that, they’re extremely rare now! And the silicone-esque material on their toes, beak, and eyelids degrade over time, making a mint condition Emoto-tronic furby even more difficult to get your hands on! Also, there were small versions of the Furby Booms, which were called Furblings! There are also small versions of the 2023 model, which are called Furblets!

I wonder if part of the reason the new one doesn't have a moving mouth is also just a safety precaution? There's too many toys with moving mouths over the years that ended up hurting kids somehow, though idk if any of the furbies ever had that happen. I do like the smaller beak and style of it though, I think it's part of what makes this gen of furby a lot cuter.

Thank you for the review! I feel like new Furby is made more a fun toy and potentially emotional support toy, when old Furby was trying to imitate a pet, in both good ways and bad ways (mood changes, sudden waking up, etc). Different approaches, and both have prons and cons. Personally I like new one, I think design does make up for some features.

For the latest ones they are cute.. but I feel like they took everything that made a furby and removed it. their mouths dnt move anymore,their language isn't really furbish as much and they dnt change personalities or have unique personality anymore

To make Furby 2012 voice a little bit less loud, you can put 2 make up cotton disc on the speaker (cut them a little) under Furby's fur. It's a very simple operation. Just unscrew the screws on the bottom (remove the battery cover first) and put the cotton disc with some tape on the speaker. You can close Furby very easily and his voice will be less loud. 😊

You can turn the old furby off by pulling its tail and holding it. I have no idea why i still remember that

The new furby actually DOES detect and dance to music, but its a little more picky about the music . It senses the beat of the music so it won't detect music unless there is a strong beat

I have one of these and I'm quite happy with it. I like how it looks, and the different minigames are charming. My one real disappointment is the lack of a moving mouth. I'm guessing they either couldn't fit the mechanism in with the ones for the eyes, ears, and feet on this new model, or they just decided it would be too expensive to produce without raising the price too much. Either way, it's a bit of a shame, as it does make the newer furby feel just slightly less alive.

I used to hear the frequency in the 2012s. Now I either hear a faint sound or I don’t hear it. The Furblings are even louder though. (That’s old Bluetooth for you) I will probably not be buying one of these new Furbies, the beak is the deal breaker for me…

it doesn't have eyelids, they're part of the eyes, making the eyes look odd when they're half closed. I didn't have a real or working furby, but I had a furby with a tuxedo coat that reminded me of my passed cat at the time

I think they will tell jokes to eachother? the only commands not on the instructions I know of are: "I love you", which the Furby will understand and respond to accordingly. "Fun fact", which will prompt the Furby to either tell you an interesting bit of trivia, or teach you a bit of Furbish. "Selfie", which will make Furby "pose" it's ears for pictures. Tapping its head will change the position of the ears.

In my opinion, they arent bad, just a dissapointment as these furby have beaks that don't move, eyes reverted back to a 1998 or 2005 tech and leaning more towards girls. Furby in my opinion is gender neutral and isn't geared towards a gender like hot wheels or barbie for example. So having it more girl focused is odd to me, maybe it's due to more girls appealed towards furbies than boys do.

I have severe ptsd to s*xual content and certain words like b*lls trigger me. This first started when I was kid. This may have been helpful to have when I was younger I'm not sure. It's only gotten worse though. Like, that B word didn't always bother me like it does. Idk what happened to cause it to. I have a way to calm down (my cardboard cutout of Nines helps a lot when I'm having a panic attack), but this may have been nice to have as a kid. I always carried plushies for support but they obviously didn't have a calming exercise in them.

growing up, I used to own one of these, and although I have no vague memories of who the fuck gave me it or how annoying it was, I do remember owning one, and I can definitely say that I had a fear of it as a child just because I've heard these horrible things about them and I've heard that they're the most obnoxious thing ever so I never wanted one is a child 😂
