Thanks for sharing your opinion on this series, it does look good. Hopefully DG has turned a corner on product and game play. Very exciting.

Thanks, this is a must have for me. With Essen coming up early October, will try to hunt down a copy there.

Thanks to Ardwulf. The games are designed with a completion in one or two evenings, replay value, both sides attack and defend in each game, new battles to gaming in most instances. I am trying to check the Mainland Europe stockists. Second chance in the U.K. are stocking. Not ideal, but cheaper than direct imports from the US.

PGG had HQ units (at least for the Sovs) in its initial version.

The map flattens out completely after a day or two.

Hopefully this series is a step above DG’s usual quality due to the designer. Looking forward to hearing Stiglr’s take on it! 😁

I know Stiglr’s take and frankly trust Ardy more. Stiglr needs to get off his one trick pony.

@@StackingLimit : The pony might have one trick, but it's CORRECT. This series might be an exception to the rule, though. Time will tell. I'm strongly considering this, based on how closely it seems to hew to PGG and the designer's "distance" from the core of Derision rottenness.

@@Stiglr It's not always correct and it gets old. Some of the Folio games are excellent. Joe Miranda has also designed some awesome games.

Nice unboxing, I missed the pre-order but will snag these as they look good and of course Tony B is great. :)

This game looks and sounds as though both its components and rules have improved in quality in Decision Games products. Might this apparent production upgrade cause even Striglr to change his mind about Decision, at least for this series of games?

Pre-rounded counters would have been nice. Still, it's got me weighing pros & cons with Vuca Simulations and Revolution games.....

Nice! Decision Games is trying to give GMT a run for the money.

I think you said that this game took some design ideas from SPI's Army Group South.... that is not the same as the GMT Army group south game (and East Front Series of games ) is it?
@ardwulfslair10 ай бұрын
No, very different.

Not sure if it's me and my tired eyes, but the counters look a bit ... darker than Volume 2's. Base color is still about the same, but the "saturation" looks here like it has maybe 10% more black in the CMYK settings? It's all fine, just that I'd prefer Red Soviet counters.
@ardwulfslair Жыл бұрын
I'd have to compare the two side by side. I can verify that the lighting between the two videos is *not* different. I actually prefer some kind of brown for Soviets. It matches their uniforms better, but the bigger reason is that the correct shade of red is really high-intensity. A little of it goes a long way. This is coming out in my current project, which presents additional challenges, since a (lighter) brown is the right color for Commonwealth forces as well.

Why the mounted map? Most people prefer laying plexiglass over their maps, and this makes mounted maps useless. Probably explains why the game costs so much for the components.
@chinapoliticsfromtheprovin6133 Жыл бұрын
Given what Decision Game charges for its products these days generally (see the prices they charge for issues of their magazines), offering unmounted maps might not have lowered the price all that much.
@MrProsat Жыл бұрын
@@chinapoliticsfromtheprovin6133 You may be right...

This is my understanding: that the cost difference is small between mounted vs unmounted in the current printing environment, i.e. printing in China.

I was keen that the series had high quality components. The price point was to be a max of $100 for 2 games. I believe that has been achieved from the feedback to date and I thank Decision Games
