Was the DC200 a total bomb? I accidentally learned about it. Brother still sells old stock of their CM Scan N Cut machines but no mention of the Design N Cut.

I purchased this machine (with great regret) and it’s gathering dust; there isn’t enough education on how to use it. I would have to guess it was a total bomb.

I have one of these and honestly I am so overwhelmed by it. It's so much to learn on it. I'm new to crafting and it's just intimidating. :(

The ScanNCutDX might have been a better choice for you since it has the auto-blade that sences what your cutting and makes all the adjustments so you don't have to set them. However, if you have another type of machine try watching some of the KZbin tutorials or try on of the projects on the (free) CanvasWorkspace site...they walk you through how to create it.

On my wish list for this year. Hope to see more tutorials on what we can do with it. I do have a question. To my understanding you don't need to purchase images like the Silhouette or Cricut Explore? That is really why I'm so interested in this machine.

Cynthia Guerrero, Correct you can use CanvasWorkspace to create or convert files. Even without having a DesignNCut or ScanNCut you can play around with the free cloud based program.

I’d like to know how to get the design N cut to stop cutting across the shapes I’ve chosen to cut out...I’ve got the correct Calibration for the blade to begin cutting (which I’m using cardstock)...only issue is I’ve gotten one shape to cut correctly....the blade seems to drag across the rest of the shapes 🙁

I'd like to create my own designs using Adobe illustrator, then send them to the design and cut to be made into stencils for airbrushing. Anyone have any experience with this process on this device?

YES! All of the Brother cutting machines cut fabric & felt great! They are some of my favorite projects to make with them. My current favorite cutting machine they make is the ScanNCutDX...it’s amazing!

Is it a must to use a apple ipad or apple pc for this machine or the scan and cut 3?

The DesignNCut needs to be connected to some type of device (PC, Mac, tablet, etc) since it doesn't have a built in scanner like ScanNCut does. ScanNCut and ScanNCutDX can be free standing (not connected to anything) OR you can connect it to a device...it's completely up to you.

Jeanne Luddeni I don't blame you I would keep your Scan and cut I was going to get a scan and cut and then I want to head and got this design and cut and I am having a really hard time putting it on my computer and getting it to work so now I wish I would've went to head and just got the scan N cut

What is the difference between this and the scan n cut??

The Freeze Dry Queen, the main difference is the ScanNCut has a built in Scanner so it’s about $100 more than the DesignNCut. They both can use CanvasWorkspace though (it’s free) to create, manipulate, convert, or transfer patterns/designs to the machine. The cutting mats and other Brother accessories are all interchangeable between the two machines.
