All these different pick variations are reminding me of Harry Potter wands 🧙♂️

@bintube5269 Best thing about Ultex is that they wear, but they don't get rough and jagged. They're also very quiet when it comes to pick on string scratchy noise.

.73mm Tortex is the same kind of size and material I use - what I have is called "Tortex the Wedge" so it's a little bigger and pointier. I'm also about to try out some "eco" picks made from PLA and wheat fibre, since they're not petroleum based and don't leave long lasting microplastics. Celluloid are meant to look like tortoiseshell - they're just very old fashioned. Nylon is a little bendier, but less grippy. Ultex is extra-long-lasting. Tortex is one of the most common types, the matte texture makes them easier to hold without being embossed and they're pleasantly stiff. The other picks I strongly recommend trying are stiff tortex (1.14mm are popular) and a "Dunlop Jazz III". It's very small, very stiff and highly textured nylon. But don't stick with one for now, try all of them for a few hours each. You'll find quite quickly if there's one you like better the others - and if there is; use that (and buy a 12 pack of it so you have spares). Using a particular pick someone else recommends isn't helpful, especially if it's something you find isn't super comfortable. What's important right now - especially given your previous experiences - is that you make playing as easy and pleasant as you can, so that you WANT to play. That means among other things, using a pick that feels nice to you. Hence my continuing advice to try a bunch!

I've not heard of this Wedge variant until now. Nor did I know you could use wheat fibre - that's creative. I quite like the look of the celluloid ones, but it's kind of annoying how they just say "Thin" or "Medium" which I just presume to mean 0.6mm and 0.73mm. I wonder why the gator grip ones are a little different - .58mm and .71mm. I've seen the Dunlop Jazz III pop up a lot in online discussions so I defintely would like to try it at some point. Funnily enough I was just thinking how I should've tested them out in the video because otherwise I'm quite likely to just get stuck with one and the rest will be hidden away in the guitar case..So I should probably get onto that soon before the habit sets in.. Thanks for the info and advice! 😃

I only have 1 pick, which was given to me in person by Helloween's guitarist

Wow, that's crazy. I sure would've lost it by now I think if I only had one pick. In fact I had quite a few before and they've all vanished somewhere somehow.

@@bintube5269 you are in the right path of becoming a guitar player then 😆 That's actually pretty common for guitar players, they are always losing their picks. It's like black magic, picks like to hide to never be found again
