A man's erotic obsession with a residential building under threat of demolition. Edifice Complex: a horror-literary hybrid that redefines what is meant by ‘homesick’’.
A young Algerian man immigrates to Paris and has his tenuous grip on reality further jeopardised when he develops an erotic, obsessive relationship with a residential building set for demolition.

Eventually, I will pick up your book (books). Unfortunately I'm broke now bc I ordered those Adam Nevill books, which is, though indirectly, your fault. 😃Good luck with your book! xx❤️

Hi, Michael. Looking forward to reading Edifice Complex, and I truly hope it'll do staggeringly well. Also, I will definitely acquire Ficciones (based on the recommendation you gave in that live chat you did, which I rather enjoyed). All the best.

Thank you😁I think you will love Ficciones (but please do not read Edifice Complex immediately after reading Ficciones😆That's a high bar to clear.)

It is sweet to see you being touched and proud by something you have done and you have every right to be proud. It is nice to see you are walking your own path or what to call it in English ... instead of publishing something that has been written many times before. And I can relate to the sound problematic. I can hear sounds that are far away and living in an apartment complex is not that relaxing. I hope the book does great and you keep being motivated.❤

Huge congratulations Michael. I loved this video and you did such a great job with describing the back story as to how your novel came to life.. We did chat about your life as a composer on my live video but this was an eye opener. I look forward to reading your book in the next couple of months and I wish you huge success. I would still love to do a series of lives with you when you settle down in your new home.

It's an intriguing concept. Sounds like JG Ballard or David Cronenberg territory, which may be why publishers are hesitant. In other words, extremely well done in terms of craftsmanship, bold in its conceptualization, but how does one go about marketing it? Is it genre or is it literary? I can almost hear them. Personally, I think the preservation of your artistic integrity is a good strategy for personal reasons, but it may come up short as a business model. What crowd are you trying to appeal to? Are you selling it as a horror novel? Perhaps appealing to that crowd would bear fruit. And yes, I do consider Cronenberg a novelist as well as a filmmaker; I absolutely loved his debut novel, CONSUMED. Consider giving that a read if you haven't; I bet you'd have a lot of interesting thoughts. I plan on giving your book a read and will review in on both AZ and GR. Best of luck!

I am a huge Cronenberg fan and I definitely HAVE TO read Consumed! Thanks for the reminder. "it may come up short as a business model" Yes. 100%. But I do plenty of gostwriting, so my artistic integrity is quite selective. I think appealing to the horror community is my best bet (I think) since, otherwise, there might be too many triggers (blood and murder and such) for non-horror readers. I'm looking forward to the reviews!😁😁Thank you.

If I wasn't unsubscribed and I viewed your content I'd tell you that an interesting tale that was . The live stream was fun to watch and I bought a physical copy of the book, but I'll probably read my K*NDLE edition. I finished reading "Julia" (Sandra Newman) and I'll start "Grey Dog" (Elliott Gish) soon. Best of luck and good fortune with the new book.

Just found your channel 3 hours ago while be bored at work and watched atleast 5-7 of your videos already 😅. Definitely going to buy this book, seems like a cross between American Psycho and The Incredible Hulk(interms of wanting to be left alone in silence), and im all in for it. Plus how you portray yourself in your videos seems to be very chaotic but intelligent. Im always curious with writers and so far ive had no luck with other youtubers, not sure why, but would it be possible to make a video on some of your very early drafts of one of your books?? Not saying this one in particular but in general. Maybe it comes from being an aspiring writer myself, i always find early drafts of authors fascinating, I also believe it could help other new writers be less scared of zero and 1st drafting (scared as in being not confident with their own writings early on) if theres something to compare it to..think of it like a before and after of a drawing.. Dont know but i think it be an interesting video i dont see anyone else doing.. maybe they just dont want to show people their early drafts, or they might not have drafts that far back.. But i am going to buy your book right now as it intrigues me and your horror lists in other videos make me think wr have the same taste.. Also is there any plan for an audiobook?? I work alot and most my reading comes from zoning out and listening to audiobooks

I love the comment. Thank you!!😁A cross between American Psycho and The Incredible Hulk😁I don't know about that, but that's better than any comparison I can come up with. When it comes to first drafts, I'm a huge proponent of not worrying about anything else except getting it done. Making it good or even readable is a concern for later drafts. I don't have any plans for an audiobook. That seems unlikely at this stage. I appreciate the support. If you do read it, leaving an honest review would be a big help too, if possible. Thanks for the kind words about the channel. I'm kicking around ideas for pivoting more towards content about the writing process. So far my attempts in that direction have been underwhelming. But I'll keep trying. And I'm wishing you success with your writing pursuits,too!

How long did u need to write the book? Did u write every day? Did u have crises during writing like blocks and problems with self-confidence?
@Michael_Wertenberg
@Michael_Wertenberg 28 күн бұрын
The first draft was so long ago I don't remember the specifics😔I have the impression that it came together quite quickly. I didn't have writing block or problems with confidence because I didn't set out to do anything with it; didn't expect one day to be sharing it, so that takes a lot of the pressure off.
