I really like my Tecsun S2000. For tuning the bands, you can't beat a table top radio with a nice big VFO knob and an analogue S meter. The audio from the front facing speaker is very good. The wide filter is too wide and I leave mine in narrow all the time. I adjust the RF gain so that the meter is just lifting off the bottom of the scale with no signal. What would be really nice is if Tecsun put the DSP circuitry of the H501 into this case, 10Hz tuning steps, 5 filter widths and keep the RF gain control, analogue S meter - that would be a go to radio no doubt!

Gilles, I have the Grundig badged version of this radio in my collection…. It pairs beautifully with the MLA-30 antenna…. Not a portable and not a desktop, but full features of both, and terrific sound quality, especially through headphones.

I had a Drake SW8 for years. That thing was a power house. This radio layout looks very similar. I started SW listening around 1990.I consider it the first internet, especially decoding signals.Very nice, strait forward review.Looks like a very nice set.TY.

I am a new subscriber. From looking at your videos I am actually surprised that you didn't already have this 750 radio. I enjoy this unit but prefer the 800. I also have a Palstar R30A. It's fun to switch among the 3 using an outside longwire and an MLA30. I sure hope Eton can get their act together on their new unit. Love your videos. See you here soon. 👍✌

I have the predecessor to this radio, the Grundig Satellit 800 millennium, it still amuses me to no end that this radio and the Eton e1 both can fit on top of it

I bought a new one coming in soon. Had a Grundig Satellit 750 (same thing) and it’s time expired so I had to junk it. Great on AM performance- I plugged in a CCrane twin coil antenna into the existing rotating antenna and MAN!! It out performed any radio that lay claim to fame on AM reception and sound. I have tested, scanned bands on Sony, Panasonic, and GE’s best radios along with the amplified twin coil antenna and the 750 series (Grundig, Tecsun S 2000, and Eton Elite 750 sounded better, was more sensitive and responded better than even the two Superadio 2s that I STILL have. One GE Superadio 2 is still in the box and I’ll remove it now and again to check the functionality.

This is a receiver that absolutely does not need to be as big as it is. It's ridiculously large with an inferior plastic design accented with metal knobs. I should know, I bloody returned mine after the backlight on the display died in the first week of use. Outrageous QC even on this unit from Eton.

Better SW radios have AGC (automatic gain control) and AFC (automatic frequency control) with option to lock tuning on either upper or lower side of an AM signal. Great for music and sideband stations. Grundig Sattilite radio had this, but such features will cost you. It was $500 in 2006. Happy DXing.

Enjoyable video. I just purchased a used Grundig version. The little compartment on the back as other have mentioned is for a power cord. It's interesting to note that the circuit board that the coaxial DC power jack is mounted on is set up to be populated with parts for a power supply. Filter caps, rectifier diodes, etc. No values are indicated on the board but with some sleuthing I bet the correct value parts could be found. Maybe someone would like to dissect their S-2000? ;-) I don't know if it's a linear supply or a switcher but it's almost asking to be assembled.

It is a great radio on Mediumwave with that rotating ferrite antenna. I also like the antenna connections on the side, I used mine at first with a long piece of wire and that big old whip antenna. I love mine. Enjoy your new rig Gilles. 😊

You might not pick up much until you switch the filter to narrow. Wide let's in all the noise! But if you got a strong station AM almost sounds as good as FM turned when switched to wide! Can't wait for a comparison video! The 750 blows my ICF-2010 out of the water in sensitivity!

Hello! I have had this radio for a couple months taking it with me to camping, using a combination of homemade long random wire antenna and internal antennas. I have a laptop (windows) and would like to see a video oh how to use the radio and laptop to decode, tune in, use different knobs for listening to ham radio. Can you point me to free software for this. I'm very new to this, and you're channel inspired me to get into this hobby and my radio selection. Thank you, BJWA, let me know if I can help in anyway

I really like this radio. I like the fact that you have to manually tune SSB signals with the BFO because I like radios that have a lot of knobs. It also has a secret compartment in the back where you can put your hamster when it's being naughty. The only thing I don't like about the radio is that the wide bandwidth filter is too wide so you have to use the narrow filter. Overall, great radio 👍

The 750 seems to look like a follow up to the 650 before it, and before the 800 version Good luck with your latest edition Yes, after being on the waiting list since March 2020 at Universal Radio, where last week Barbara, I think 🤔 in Shipping, said the Eton was coming in to be sent out in order of Reservation over the next 6 weeks. Now, it seems the problems described by you are delaying it again. Like you said this is very poor execution of a radio by Eton. By the way, I have the Grundig's Satellit 650 Professional and the Satellit 3400, which are pretty big and heavy by their comparison. I had the Grundig 800 back in 2005 until I sold it in 2014 at Nearfest in Deerfield, NH, not far from here. It was pretty nice, big and heavy, but it had soon quirks, such as the LED display for USB.
