About me - I'm Claire and I live in the UK. My taste in perfumes is usually quite sweet but not too sweet, I love white florals but not tuberose so much. I like gourmands as long as they smell like perfumes still, I require my perfumes to change a little bit as I wear them ie not linear. I don't enjoy oud, leather, cumin, saffron or strong patchouli however there can be occasions where I do like perfumes with these notes if they are not too dominant. I enjoy most florals as long as they are backed up with something sweet or perhaps resins / insense. I tend to not enjoy anything very soapy. I also don't really enjoy very green fragrances. I am averse to overdoses of ambroxan and iso E super (timbersilk or similar) just because I find it annoying! I have no problem with synthetics in perfumery but I do enjoy perfumes that have some notes that at least smell like they could be from nature. My favourite type of perfumery is indie and I love Francesca Bianchi, Teone Reinthal, 4160 Tuesdays and Papillon Artisan Perfumes.

Bought a sample of Shalimar Millisime Iris and I think it’s beautiful. I love iris too and the vanilla talc was just fine with me.

Love the Shalimar bottles. The original, as you say, is a bit sharp, not my favorite. The Initial flanker, is lovely. I’m glad you liked this new Iris version, it’s fun opening blind buys, sometimes you just have to live a little!!!!🎉🌻🌞⭐️

Just received this today and I love it....I ordered a second bottle. 😄 I agree that the vanilla kind of takes over the iris, but I can still make the iris out in the dry down.

Americans only have the option to return at some stores, mainly the biggest retailers. But usually these stores have testers too so you can try before you buy. Some of them will also make a small decant for you to try the perfume for a few days before deciding to buy

I was so excited to watch this video. Do you find the baby powderiness to be similar to L'Instant Magic at all?

It’s been awhile since I smelled that, gave the bottle to my mum as it was too powdery but I’d say possibly similar level of powder. I can still smell SMI on my hand now after filming yesterday at 5pm so it’s ridiculously long lasting, the scent now is like a vanilla talc.

I love the vanilla, leather and smoke with citrus combo of Shalimar EDP, but hate the soap note. I was hoping this one would be Shalimar without the offending note, replacing soap with powder. 🥰My dream🥰 Shalimar EDP is definitely not what I would call sweet. The vanilla is dry and not gourmand. Although you can send most cosmetics and perfumes back in the US, most reasonable people don't do this due to waste. I have sent things back, but it was when I received something I felt was not fair in some way. I buy samples since I live in the country and can't try in store.

This one doesn’t have smoke or leather but powder in droves! I think it’s too powdery for me actually and I get nothing soapy at all. Thanks for clarifying re returns in 🇺🇸 that makes sense although a really bad / expensive blind buy would probably have me throwing my ethics out the window 😂

On skin, this was just too much for me and not my favourite Shalimar. I didn't get Dior Homme vibes, but I'm more familiar with the Intense version...

@@Smurfygurly what scares me the most with Guerlains at the moment is they all smell very Guerlainy... I tried that wicked good tonight yawn... It could be a Guerlain, tonka and vanilla 🙄

Whilst this is a beautiful Shalimar, there is very little Iris in it if any at all, such a shame.

I can get it in the opening but it doesn’t feel like it lasts or it just gets overpowered by vanilla maybe.

@@Smurfygurly thanks for the reply ! I’ll leave my bottle to settle from transit then give it another go, I get the caramel and lots of vanilla throughout, but I think we all would have preferred a more prominent Iris, it’s still a beautiful Scent in its own right.

Bit weird and not really good enough that there's no proper label for the Shalimar flankers. Poor show. I got a fab Guerlain hessian shopping bag when I bought Nerolia Vetiver Harvest this summer. Btw Claire your recent videos have rather low volume especially when the ads come in twice as loud. X
