It is scary how so many people are just like the hosts, they do not know how to use some of the basic tools. But I appreciate that they are covering this. Maybe another segment with a real prepper or expert.

For the people out there, gear is nice to have and useful, but do try and learn the gear.Regardless if it's a 20 or 300 dollar or DIY/self made kit, add skills, knowledge and experience( dirt time) so you are more prepared overall. Feeling safe ,communication/navigation,controlling CoRe body temperture, hydration and having energy to keep going moving/going are important. Remember any pre made kit, the business still has to make money. Adjust your expectations as needed. There are many videos out there that show how to use items like a flint striker/ferrocerium rod. Organization is important so deploy the gear fast and effectively. take CaRe all

None of those first aid kits will help in an actual emergency. Get some first aid, CPR/AED and, stop the bleed training and you will see how to build your own useful first aid kit. We all have to start somewhere.

Ever watch 2012? No way I'd live in California after seeing the Navy's future map of the US.

Open a video...oh these must be journalists they would of done all the research and know what they are talking about. 1 minute in: I've always wanted to know what the shiny blanket feels like. 🤣🤣🤣 Actually finished watching this joke of a video. If this was meant to be humorous, you failed, if this was meant to be informative you failed, if this was meant to be a serious review, you failed. Actually it's insulting to people who are trying to get the proper information while you poke around in a bag not knowing what anything is or whether it is good or not. You didn't even know wether any of this stuff was necessary. Not only that your final advice to build a self-made kit is actually bad advice. Great job LA Times, I now know your level of credibility.
