These big footprint games work well solo in vassal. Game looks great.

Their complexity scale is entirely arbitrary.

I would tend to agree with the arbitray comment given GMT's tendancy to rate ~80% of their games a 5. Given that this one has been rated an 8, I'm guessing even they are willing to admit that this one is going to be a fair bit more complex. Personally im yet to come across a game that looks this complex (at least on the surface). Be sure to let us know how you find it Alexander.

I've played around with it a few times, but it's pretty complex, I'm working on a new game table where I can leave it set up for a while and do a real review after some serious play.

I would love to see the statistics of this - of the 790 people that ordered the game on p500, I bet only half would actually get it to the table. Everyone has a backlog and this game requires some serious reading. I hope to be one of the few that plays it soon!

Would the game company make a profit on a complex game bought by a few relative to a simpler game bought by many?

From an opinion standpoint they wouldn't do it without a profit margin. Is anyone retiring off this game though? No.

I once remember a discussion over realism versus play- ability in gaming. (I prefer the latter, although I think the jury is still out.) Enjoy your videos immensely. If you do manage to play through this game, I, and like as not, many other people) would like to see a video, I feel sure. Meantime I will leave stage right. Thanks for the comments.

People take unboxings too literally. Open it up and learn about all the parts, then put them back in so you can explain them when you unbox it.
