I have 15 or so Choprae that I got from Rachel last summer, so they are getting old. They're in the Rainbow tank and stay bottom 1/3rd. It surprised me a bit to see the Gudgeons en masse. I usually see them as a pair or a single fish. Nice to know you can keep many of them together. My heart skipped a beat when you pulled out the Rainbows. I thought they might be one of the wild caughts you hope to get. I have those dwarf guys from you actually. Beautiful little guys. Thanks for the unboxing Dan.

Thanks, Bob! Hope the heart damage is reversible 😀. I hope to pick up the wild rainbows on Monday.

Gudgeons in a group are great. They basically act like a very peaceful goby, and, in a group, there are constant displays and non-damaging sparing. It really is a sight to behold!

I would love some amazon puffers but I'm really nervous to trim any teeth. Do you think that regular feeding of clams will take care of the teeth/beak. I've heard of some people saying the tooth trimming is inevitable. What are your opinions about this.

Great looking fish. I, like Pam, am going to look at the dragon goby too. The fish look great. I am going to eventually have to get some puffers. They are just too cool.

Thanks, Bam. Yep, puffers and gobies will steal your heart. Here's the scientific for the goby, in case that helps you search for info: Schismatogobius ampluvinculus

Awesome unboxing! Quick question, you briefly mentioned using shrimp when breeding egg layers, could you elaborate a little on that process? Thanks!
@DansFish6 жыл бұрын
Sure! Sometimes, I put a bunch of shrimp in an extablished 5.5 or 2.5 gallon aquarium with plants and stuff and, once the colony has stabilized, I syphon up any mulm and then put in a bunch of fish eggs. The shrimp do a great job cleaning the eggs and they don't seem to bother the fry. I have not tried this with very small species such as tetras which hatch well before being free swimming, but it works great for rainbowfish, killifish, and corys. BTW, the aquarium is a bare bottom tank so the eggs don't get lost in substrate. Alternatively, I will put the eggs in a small plastic storage container with a small clump of java moss, a couple of snails, and a cherry shrimp or two...same result.

Dan, how many types of puffers are freshwater ?
@DansFish6 жыл бұрын
I'm not nearly as bit a puffer nerd as others, but I believe Pea, Amazon, Hairy, Congo, Mbu, Hairy, Arrowhead, Red Eye, and Fahaka all all true fresh water puffers. Might want to double check the Hairy, Red Eye, and Arrowhead. I know there are a few others as well. Here's a vid about them: www.amazon.com/Falken-Design-Falkenacrylic-MW-CL-6MM-3648-Polycarbonate/dp/B07BQHX4FG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543966893&sr=8-3&keywords=twinwall+polycarbonate+6mm

5 Amazon puffers in a 20 long good for long term or do they need larger tank then 20 gallon?
@DansFish6 жыл бұрын
Howdy Mister, Personally, I would not keep adult Amazons in a 20 long. They will get 3.5"-4" and are quite bulky...water quality would be difficult to keep up forever in a tank like that. Also, even though they get along together, they do seem to appreciate enough room to go off and be by themselves on occasion. Everyone does things differently, but that is my 2 cents.
@misterdabalina46946 жыл бұрын
Dans Fish cool I was planning on keeping a few in a 50 wide , but then I heard you say you have some in a 20 long on your video so I was just asking , thanks for reply
@DansFish6 жыл бұрын
I think a 50 wide would be great for a group long term. Sounds awesome!
@misterdabalina46946 жыл бұрын
@@DansFish awesome , how many you suggest in the 50, it's hard to find some good info on them
@DansFish6 жыл бұрын
Totally depends on how the tank is set up and maintained. I'd think half a dozen would not be a problem. That being said, this is a new species to me, so I don't have much personal experience with them yet.
