Hi everyone, I wanted to add a small update after wearing it for a few days. I still really enjoy the scent. I feel like it's super comforting but also people around me seemed to enjoy it (I wore it at a concert and I could hear the ladies who let me in wondering where that wonderful scent was coming from ^^). The only issue I had with it so far is the longevity. Unfortunately on my skin it doesn't last more than 4 hours. There is something in the sweetness of this fragrance that reminds me of L'initial (in the bee bottle) and Mon exclusif (the previous version of Mon Guerlain). I love this new Shalimar Iris, unfortunately I missed out on the vanilla version so I can't compare the two... I do have last year's Tonka and love that one... this new Iris does last on my skin but it is softer than the Tonka and doesn't project as much. I agree that it could have more Iris, but I still love it because I do like sweet fragrances and I miss out on the vanilla... got two bottles and will most likely buy another one.

I don't mind a sweet iris. I do love Iris dragées and it's a sweet powdery iris. But I feel like this one has even less iris than Iris dragées or even Iris shot. The vanilla one was great, it is still one of my favourite vanilla fragrances 🥰

These limited editions have always been a bit more expensive but 122€ ... Even with a 25% discount, that's more expensive than the 2 previous ones 😅 Hopefully it's good but after a few wear tests I'm a bit disappointed by the longevity. I don't know what they will do for the next edition but a leather version would be nice 😈

Hello Karine, I ended up blind buying Millésime Iris. It was one of those situations, where I knew if I didn't just go for it when I got the release email from Guerlain Canada, that I would miss out. I didn't get to purchase the last two limited editions, so I felt some pressure to buy. 😅 I have only worn it once and so far I am still forming my opinion. I do get a hint of bergamot on my skin on first spraying it, but it's light and doesn't last. There is strong vanilla throughout the wear for me. It was sweet but it is tolerable. I found the iris very soft and as you point out it doesn't last through the wear. I was worried this could be overly powdery, but it wasn't as powdery as I was anticipating, which is good for me. There is something that comes off musky on my skin it smelled like white musk to me but it wasn't soapy like I typically get from white musk. It does remind me of the Mon Guerlain Intense that uses a lot of vanilla/musk in the base. Something did bother me a bit in the mid, perhaps it is the animalic quality you mentioned but it did go. I generally do prefer the dirty musk over clean musk notes. I found I do enjoy the scent bubble wafting from the fragrance, but I couldn't put my nose to my skin right after spraying or for the first hour. I find the vanilla/musk note a bit strong to my nose and it can go to my my head if I am not careful. That also happens for me with Mon Guerlain, but not with any of the fragrances in the Arts and Materials Line. They must use something I am sensitive to in some of the lines of fragrance and not others. I don't regret my purchase and I will use up my bottle. I do wish the iris was stronger as one would expect it to be with the name. Would I have purchased it if I been able to test it first? I am not sure... I have a few on my wish list from the Arts and Materials line I might choose over this one. It could grow on me as I wear it more. I guess I will see. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with this perfume. I need to pay more attention to the longevity on my next wear and to if it lasts longer if I moisturize or spray on fabric. Hi Jenn 😊 Thank you for your feedback. I have indeed a similar impression with these musks. I don't know what they used but it definitely gives more a skin scent vibe than soapy clean musks. I was also afraid about it being too powdery but hopefully it's not. I mean it is powdery but in a good sense to me ^^ And yes, I understand that FOMO is real. Hopefully they may have more bottles here in France so it takes a while before they're all gone! So I took the risk to wait a few days to use my 25% discount on it (which also let me more time to try it in store and wear it to be sure I would like it).

Enjoyed that especially the comparisons. I agree I wish there was more iris or at least if the iris could last longer. To me it’s a bit too powdery and vanillic but if I just wear it and stop sniffing / analysing then it is beautiful and an enjoyable wear. It’s just not that interesting though.

Exactly 😊 If I just wear it without thinking too much about it, I still enjoy the whiffs of it. Just sad it doesn't last longer. I think I would need to try it again for Spring 😉

I think Guerlain is providing a lot more bottles of this for sale in the U.S. than they did for the vanilla and tonka versions. I blind bought it and I am really enjoying it, probably because it is less like the classic Shalimar. 🤣 I think the vanilla is beautiful in this and although the iris is drowned out, I can still detect it. Unfortunately, I also am not getting great longevity. It sounds very similar to your experience. I will also be buying a bottle of the new Fève Gourmand...it will be my Christmas present to myself. Haha same issue for me with the original Shalimar 😅 I'm glad you enjoy this version. I'll smell the new one for sure but I really enjoyed the Tobacco honey one so I don't know yet ... I'd like to have a full wear test to decide but that's not easy to get samples of it 😅

Great review! It's funny how our skin can either ruin or elevate a fragrance. Not a lot of people understand this. You should try the Legendaires collection, I was impressed by their florals. I was wondering do the Guerlain stores in France sell Vol de Nuit extrait or was it discontinued?

Hello! In fact that's a really good question. I've just checked their French website and I cannot find any extract anymore except for Shalimar (which is currently unavailable). I will ask them next time I call their customer service. Indeed this is weird. I bought my Vol de nuit extrait last year and it was still available at that time. I have several bottles from their original collection like Chant d'arômes, Vol de nuit, Mitsouko, Samsara, Jardins de bagatelle, Après l'ondée, L'heure bleue ... Vol de nuit being my favourite one and the one I wear the most. I'm attached to the other ones because I have a special bond with them as they remind me of something or someone 😊

Wow the same in the American website! I've heard that the store at Champs Elysee has fragrances that are no longer sold on their website and also discontinued fragrances, like Djedi, for people to smell on paper blotter only so they can keep the heritage of the house alive while still respecting the IFRA laws. Unfortunately here in the USA, we only have 2 Guerlain stores and the rest are either department stores that carry a small selection or the directly from the website. It's quite beautiful that a perfume can give you a memory of a place or someone.

Vol du Nuit Extrait is still available in Tokyo, saw it at Mitsukoshi department store this Summer. In fact they had 4 including Shalimar, L’Heure Bleu and Mitsouko.

I got some information at my local counter. They told me they have issues with their supplier (I don't know if this is about the bottles or the raw materials). So far Vol de nuit extrait is not discontinued but it won't be available until the beginning of 2024.

Guerlain are so complicated 😂 gourmand coquin's return will be eagerly awaited.... and then there will be outrage at reformulation 😂 I really struggle with some Shalimar flankers... philtre was a complete no for me, but this sounds really quite nice, I don't mind a slight animalic touch at all. The other versions in this series were so popular and hyped, im sure Guerlain have sold quite a few of this as i think lots of people pounced on it! I feel like you are a Shalimar mega fan 😂 I'm happy you like it at least, even if it's not your absolute favourite!

Yes I'm also afraid of a reformulation but OK, wait and see 😅 I have many Shalimar flankers that I love and enjoy very much ❤ The cologne, the initial ones, the souffle ones, the millesime ones ... Which is funny because I cannot wear the original 😆 Still, I think that I'm gonna use this one even if not my favourite it's still pretty. I think I have a different Shalimar for almost each month of the year now 🤣
