i will be doing their 32,000 grain unit, but outside install. Our previous softner was installed outside as well, but my concern is how to protect it. The Home Depot rep said install it on cinder blocks, and as close to the exterior wall as possible. Our installer never connected the drain hose to the drain, just had it hang loose and it just went onto the ground.

@@ProjectAnonymous_Duo Yes i am fully aware installing this unit outside is NOT a good idea. I have seen another post that someone installed a AO Smith version outside, and asked if he had any issues. But I do know they sell after marked "covers" for water softners. I also contacted Rheem they said the same thing, installation indoors is prefferred, but can go outside if it meets a lot of criteria ...thanks for the reply!

Hearing there was a flange redesign about 2 yrs ago. Also, in talking with Rheem, these failures were attributed to water pressure spikes in excess of 100 psi.

I have had two Rheem rhs42 units and both popped the head unit off the tank inside. I only had the units two years each...I just bought my third unit RHS32, AND installed it yesterday....dont know why these keep popping the head unit off the tanks. Good thing I bought the warranty insurance (Allstate) and they reimbursed me. Does anyone know why the head gasket keeps popping off and flooding my garage??

Have you checked your water pressure? These machines do have a max water pressure, however, you can remedy this by putting a water pressure regulator before feeding into the water softener. Ours is still working great after three years.

Great video guys. I have to replace my old water softener. Can that unit be installed outside and is the power cable long?
@ProjectAnonymous_Duo2 жыл бұрын
We found this information online about installing a unit outside, but it may be a good idea to contact them directly with your specific situation. “Occassionaly in warmer climates, the only place to install your new water softener is on the outside of your home. Our units can be installed outdoors, but we recommend the following: When installing your softener, be sure to construct a shelter or covering to block the unit from sun, wind, rain, and other environmental elements. Verify the power cord is also sheltered at the outlet connection.” The power cable is about 7-8 feet long. Thanks for watching!

@ProjectAnonymous_Duo7 ай бұрын
We haven't had any leaks to date and it softens our water, so it has been getting the job done for us so far. We have found the app to be helpful with notifications and we have always had a leak sensor/monitor set up near our water heater and softener to detect leaks.

@ProjectAnonymous_Duo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! We haven’t found a need to cap off the drain, as the P-trap blocks any smells that would otherwise come through… the drain hoses seem to stay in place with no issues, but we did zip tie them in place to prevent them from coming out of the drain. Hope this helps!

Is the unit damaged if it was laying down during transport from store to home? I bought it from a store that already had out of the box. It was laying down for 30 minutes. Has been standing up for 3 days without being installed.
@ProjectAnonymous_Duo2 жыл бұрын
We can’t say for sure if your unit was damaged during transport. We were told if it was laid down the resin beads could mess up the upper part of the unit and possibly end up in your water. We suggest contacting Rheem or where you purchased it so they could best advise you on what to do. Thanks for watching!

Hi we just bought the same unit brand new and did the install and recharge but my unit is filled with water now . The water level is like around 3 on the salt level , any ideas what it could be ?
@ProjectAnonymous_Duo2 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure this is normal, this is your “brine” tank, and should have some water and salt in it to clean out your resin tank… you just want to make sure your overflow hose is connected to a drain and not plugged up.
@freddcast3465 Жыл бұрын
Do i have to put the 3 gallons of water?????
@ProjectAnonymous_Duo Жыл бұрын
rheemwatertreatment.zendesk.com: "You'll be prompted to add three gallons of water to the salt tank during initial installation. From there, your unit will regulate the water level for you, at a steady 2-4 inches in the bottom of the tank. During a recharge, the tank will fill with water and then drain that water back down to 2-4 inches."
