Unboxing an iPod Classic roughly 12 years after its release date. This is also known as the iPod 6th generation, rendition 2. The first models of the Classic only came in 80GB and 160GB. 2nd model debuted in this thinner 120GB model. And the 3rd model rereleased the 160GB capacity with the slim body of the 120GB model. There was never a 7th generation iPod.
No longer selling!

Still have mine from 2009. It’s on its 3rd battery and works fine. I never listen to music on my iPhone because I hate the interruptions from texts and calls. Dedicated music players are the best. I still buy CD’s and rip them to mp3 before loading them onto the iPod. It’s a bit old fashioned but at least I OWN the music instead of leasing it from a streaming service.

@@chsrgN man I had my iPod Classic and I only got it because I broke the screen on my Zune. But I hated how I felt I took a step backwards going from Zune to iPod. My Zune had the same buttons except for the scrolling but that’s because the screen was touch screen. And the screen was way bigger than the iPod. I know everyone has their preferences but I feel like the iPod classic is extremely overrated

I love these! I do have Spotify and while it is very convenient, the music is sometimes limited to specific regions and they can decide to pull music any day. My phone has plenty of storage, but I don't really want to drain the battery too much. So that's the reason I got my first iPod (5th gen 60 GB) a couple of months ago and I'll be getting a 6th gen 80 GB tomorrow, I'm really excited. Surprisingly, iPods also work well for syncing under Linux (while iTunes isn't available for this operating system, applications like Rhythmbox are perfectly able to sync with these). I might eventually replace the hard drive with an iFlash SD adapter.
@bryanvaldovinos
@bryanvaldovinos 4 жыл бұрын
Marvin P. A lot of people ask me why I carry two devices instead of just my phone and you’re right! I don’t want my phone dying mid day. Besides I don’t have to worry about commercials or lag (network related) interrupting my playlists. & with the Flash SD I’m sure the music will change over to the following song with little to no lag. Even faster than that of the already existing hard drive.
@NijiDash
@NijiDash 4 жыл бұрын
bryanvaldovinos Exactly! Plus they just look so cool and iconic, even today (except for the back, which scratches if you look at it the wrong way lol). Update on the 6th gen iPod: it had a part of the headphone jack stuck inside (as advertised), which I’ve been able to remove using a Bic pen. I really like the build, feel and user interface on it. The Cover Flow feature is cool, if not a bit laggy. Still, I do also like the no frills interface and the chunkier housing on the 5th gen. Some say there’s a difference between the two in sound quality, but I can’t hear it for the life of me.

@@fchho Yes it's been a hot tip since day one (way back in the dark ages before teh coof), you just have to be careful where you use such a polish, as it can, and will also remove the Apple logo, (less likely), or the Serial info at the bottom. (more likely), I actually had a 3erd Gen iPod that wore away part of that info away all on it's own. But, that one was in a rubber case back then, sadly it (The Rubberized Case), degraded like most other 'rubberised' products do. So it was most likely the chemicals from that that lifted off that info.

Looks like its a 2013 model if you know how to decode the Serial number. The third number being "3" for 2013, and the next two digits for the week it was manufactured in. So, as i read it this has the cost reduced materials in it, unlike the earlier 2009 ones, some people on the Apple Forums have even stated that they can not stand that model of the iPod as it just doesnt sound as good as the non cost reduced version.

Great, I have an unboxed 160 GB iPod Classic and my 120 GB iPod Classic, but I can't use them because iTunes no longer supports the iPod Classic, or any of the older iPods, I believe the iPod Touch is the only one that is still supported, but for how much longer. Apples wants people to buy iPhones for there music, but I prefer my music on a separate device. I loved my iPod Classic, but haven't been able to use it for a couple of years now.

I hear Rockbox does that. Honestly what's the difference between Flac, and Alac? Whatever that difference might be, the iPod just is not capable of 24/96 bit Files. Something for Mr Cook to ponder on. I'm sure he could make a few more doll-hairs with an iPod refresh, 512GB Flash Storage, USB 4.0, and, Alac / Flac @ 24/96 high res.

Sounds like a bad Drive. Keep in mind these have a smaller 1,8" HDDs in them, and well even HDDs die eventually. You might want to place your iPod into Disk Mode Operation. (i.e. Menu + Select (Till Apple Screen), then Select + Play/Pause (To enter Disk Mode),. Then eithe run CHKDISK (Windows), or the Disk Tools on Mac to diagnose it. I suppose it could also be a faulty Cable to blame too for what its worth. Apple Cables seem to all suck from that time. Even the one i got with my late 2009 160GB has a ratted up cable that i plan to replace. Thankfully i have an older Firewire Brick, and Cable that are still both like new so thats taking care of my daily charging uses.

Just buy a used one that someone bothers to take care of. Simples... As to scratches... You just have to deal with it. You lay the thing down for a second, and pick it back up again it's got a new scratch hoestly you may as well try to fight entopy by taking all the milk particles out of your coffee. Unlike babing an iPod to keep it's back pristine. You might actually have a prayer at that.

@@bryanvaldovinos How are you able to use Itunes? They discontinued support and software for it? I'm having problems managing music and playlists on mine? Any help that you can give me would be great. Apple doesn't give support for Ipod classics.

Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, eBay Small Ads, local Yard Sales etc... If that fails there is always that old stand in (Fl)e(a)Bay.

Good video. Hate to tell you man . That is not a "sealed" ipod classic. I used to work for bestbuy around that time. Opened many maybe 100s for customers to set up and use. Never in my life have I ever seen that accessory "bag" in the box . Apple has also never done that . Apple has always had the same experience unboxing and that's not how it was. Also there's no phone protective thing in the original boxes. You should return the item and get your money back cause that's totally a repackaged ipod that's sealed to look brand new

Hi there! thanks for taking the time to comment. as mentioned in other replies, my father received this as a gift from his company years back... he had mentioned they would bulk order these directly from best buy. This particular 120gb model does indeed come with an accessory bag as well as the protective foam on the inside. Refer to this unboxing from 2009! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppSnhI2qbaZ4oJo

You might have been dealing with strictly the 80GB & 160GB models which were far more popular than their 120GB counterparts.
