These JBLs have similar specs to the Infinity Kappa 1200W and also produce identical response curves in Bass o Pro too. But sound quality-wise, which one sounds better?

Thank you so much for this review. It helped me make my decision to purchase two of these subwoofers. I would like to know, what amp would you recommend to run two of these subwoofers?

I have the 5 chanel JBL AMP, it supports 320w rms 4-Ohm/ 500w rms 2-Ohm. Pretty hard to find a 10"sub with those specs. So i'll try the 10" version of this guy. Even if its rated higher.

I believe the 97 DB sensitivity is measured at 2 ohm which is 4 watts of power at 2.83 volt. So with 1 watt of power, how most sensitivities are measured, it would be 91dB. Which is above average and still quite good.

I have been running one of these in a sealed box (about .8 cubic ft volume) powered by a cheap amp that only makes about 300 w max at 50% gain. It's loud enough in my ford focus that i keep the sub signal at "-8" out of 10 on the head unit for regular listening. Then when i want a lot more bass i turn it to "-4" or "0" on the head unit. For some reason 55hz is WAY louder (relative listening volume) than 30 hz. Idk if it's the head unit or the accoustics of my car or whatever that's causing that. Or maybe because the range of the sub "ends" at about 30 hz. When the temperature gets down to 30 degrees or so, it doesn't work well. I'm guessing its because i'm using a sealed box and the air density is a bunch higher due to the temp. Overall i've been satisfied with it. I just wish i had a way to controll the amp gain from my driver seat since the bass is pretty loud even at "-8" for some songs.

The size of your vehicle is giving you a peak or boost at 55 Hertz. The reason you're not getting a lot of output at 30 Hertz is due to the design of a sealed box. If you want to even things out you should switch to a ported enclosure tuned to about 30 Hertz. This will give you a big boost on the bottom end and help bring down the top end slightly.

@@JasonWW2000 thank you for responding. I actually have upgraded my car subwoofer system dramatically since I posted that comment. I bought a second woofer and box, and I got a 1200W RMS Scar Audio amplifier cheap from a cousin. So I am running 2 x 2 ohm (nominal) in parallel to make 1 ohm total impedance. The amp seems to take it like a champ, unless it's really hot outside. I have done approximations of ported boxes for these subs, but they would take up the entire trunk space (or maybe even more), based on the manufacturer recommendations. JBL says that these subs are more better suited for sealed boxes. I'm fine with that since the sealed boxes are a ton smaller than the ported. The other bonus is that I have INSANELY tight bass response. So I can play a song with ridiculously tight bass like i've never heard anywhere else. (example: Rub Ur D*ck - GPF. It punches insanely hard and there's no fade distortion because there's no port. I haven't heard any other system punch those tight kicks as hard as mine)

Wait, the ohm load switch doesn't have anything to do with what type of bass it will produce lol, It's to give you more wiring options.
