I started out with a JG MP5 A3 and it held it's own against the big boys at an outdoor site. I would recommend a JG as a good start into airsoft and you can't go wrong with an MP5, mid cap mags are still available along with mag pouches in various camo's. The handguard can be traded up for RIS with the option for a battery box or if you can find someone to do it a custom 3D printed handguard with more battery space. Good video to show off the platform.

JGs are great for the price point. The only issue I find with their V2s is that gearboxes crack (both front and rear). Cracking at the front end can be prevented by installing POM piston heads. As far as rear cracking goes, If using 11.1v it is worhtwhile switching to 7.4v post-game and running a few shots in semi. This will ensure the spring is not left in a 'pre-cocked' position as a result of overspin on 11v. Switching to 7v will not be necessary if your semi-auto functions well, but I've found they can be a bit hit and miss.

I have the full stocked JG SD6 and it is by far my favourite, even better than some twice the price. Ever since Charlie Sheen and Michael Biehn rocked one in Navy Seals back in 90 (with the collapsible stock granted) I've coveted this MP5 varient...Yes the selector becomes easier ti click.

Thanks for this, Pheas! I'm always going to associate the MP5 with the first couple of _Die Hard_ films.

@@lordofdiscordxx6952 Learn to read please. I said I associate the MP5 with the first couple of _Die Hard_ films, not that it was used in the films. I'm very much aware that it was the HK94 being used.

And thats why my main gun is a MP5, and i absolutly love it, fully upgraded my TM old plastic MP5, love how light it is, how compact, the old school look of it, the only thing i hate is the hop up system that was always getting lose til i managed to make it tighter, the jing gong version is quite better with that serrations.
