Kotobukiya was an entry point for me. I was surprised back in the day at their relatively inexpensive quality figures. They still maintain that reputation to this day. If you get the chance, I would hope that you ask them a question along the lines of how can they make quality figures so affordable? Even when their prices go up, they remain cheaper than most manufactures.

Yea I don’t know how they’re so cheap, there’s a great example just out now. Go look at their new Asuka from Evangelion with ripped plug suit (I just got it), it’s ¥16k down from ¥20, and compare it with the new Good Smile Asuka with ripped plug suit, it’s ¥22k down from ¥26k. The Kotobukiya is so much nicer, she’s laying down and the base is sand with clear resin looking like water coming in. The Good Smile she’s sitting on a rock and it’s just propped up with a clear resin stand. It’s ¥6k more expensive. The Kotobukiya has much better likeness for Asuka and actually uses a scene from the end of the movie where she’s laying on the beach, the Good Smile looks weird because it looks like the rock is just floating in the air because of the clear resin stand.

That Megatron sculpt has attitude, they nailed the character! Still think Optimus is cutest tho. My Prism Violet Evergarden finally arrived from Sugo, 8th from the end of the run. Safe trip to Japan Joanne and enjoy yourself to the fullest! I been to Kotobukuya Akihabara a few times and always enjoyed myself. Its a great place to shop at. Actually my question for Kotobukiya will probably be the opposite of what they are currently doing. It seems like some of the manufacturers are currently going into premium line and i like to know if Kotobukiya has such considerations - reason for asking being i always envision when Kotobukiya is already doing such good works on lower 'budget'; if they decided to go all out or at least elevate to the next level on selective pieces, it be exciting to see what they can accomplish.

Nariki is absolutely stunning among all the figures that have been unboxed. Maki has a distorted face and it looks bad imo. Megatron has a pretty colour palette in her design. I can say Transformer figures are decent. Overall what a great unboxing came from Kotobukiya.
