I've been skipping a fair few Fairyloot YA boxes since November last year, but took a chance on this one because I thought the book could potentially be good... now I wish I'd skipped and the only thing that might save it would be the book/book design. I opened the box and instantly wondered what you'd think about it - your thoughts mirrored mine. I appreciate that you always review the boxes so honestly and authentically

Oh no not the best box to not skip!! I think April might be a good one, but the YA boxes for the last 3 months I would have skipped if I didn't make videos! Thank you it's so important for me to be honest always

I too found this box pretty underwhelming, especially after how great the January box and how great the February adult book was. However, I have read the book, and it really surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, and I very much DO think it fits morally grey so I'm not sure why people would think it didn't. Moral ambiguity is baked into the concept and very much ties into the arc of the main character, trying not to get too spoilery. The items...........not so much. AND YES I BEG OF YOU MIX UP THE FANDOMS PLEASE NO MORE OUABH PLEASE

The only reason I get the full box and not the book only is because they do come out with paperbacks every now and then as the extra items. They need to do this more often.

I thought it was just me who was getting overwhelmed with the sheer amount of stephanie garber items 😵‍💫 i’ve only been subscribed to fairyloot since october and I think there was only 1 box since that didn’t have anything involving hers, whether it be ouabh or caraval, regular items or tarot cards. I haven’t read her books so I can’t say whether i’ll enjoy them, but there’s just so many other incredible authors & series out there who deserve rep from fairyloot!

I was fairly dissatisfied with this box. I’ve just been unhappy with a lot of the items in most of my book boxes lately, which is sad considering how much they cost.

Very low box, book is pretty, but not amazing. But..but...Illumicrate has knocked it out of the park, 20 out of 10 for everything they did with the February box. The book might be the most beautiful one I've seen and the objects are simplyy favourite. I really think I should have paid more for the box and that never happens.

This FL box was very underwhelming soooo I was so glad when my illumicrate box arrived and was freaking amazing. Especially the book. It’s absolutely stunning……. On a par….. if not better than Fairyloots daughter of the moon goddess. Illumicrates items are so much better quality than Fairyloots. Sick of getting art print, card bookmarks and pencil cases so often.

My box was stolen out of the locked USPS mailbox. It says it was delivered. The 4th time in the last 2 weeks were the key I was given in my slot with a letter on container was already unlocked. Anyone can take my boxes and I think 2 of my boxes have been grabbed. I am filing a claim for money back but I will never bet my box. 😭 I love the print and howl's moving castle items. And I have bought many prints I like. The book is amazing. Sad to have lost it. I love dinosaurs 🦕.

The edges disappointed me tbh, considering how good the digital edges have been in the past 2 YA and especially the Jan adult book, like I really expected more from FL. I feel like for February they poured all their creativity into the adult book, and then suddenly thought , "Oh wait, we still have the YA box to do".....

Okay I love the color change on the book, and the art print. But overall I'm glad I skipped this box. So far this year I haven't liked any of the FL YA boxes, but have loved the Illumicrate and Owlcrate ones sooo I might just cancel FL. But then I get FOMO haha. I'd love to be entered in for the draw. Also I am reading Ballad of Never After and enjoying it (but also agree they need to cool it with the OUABH items)

This box was a major disappointment for me personally, I really can't wait for them to start the Adult + YA Book-Only combined subscription so I can switch to that instead. So many of Fairyloot's items are not useful to me, or just seem flat out cheap. And they're also too hard to gift to someone who doesn't know of the fandoms. (I dislike the design on this month's pouch a lot, and have no idea who I can gift it to cause all they will ask is "what is this quote and who's Chloe Gong".) I really liked the bookends in the December box, and the hollowed out book from January. I really hope March's fandom neutral items are decent.

I agree. The book is sooo good in my opinion but the items.... honestly my favorite is the art print because it reminds me of Ever After High where they go to Wonderland and I have such nostalgia for that series. I don't know, I didn't get the theme either. If the items don't improve in March I'll switch to the Combo subscription.

Definitely not as good as the February adult book but that one was GORGEOUS so it’s hard to top. Loved the bag tho, that was the best item!

I was so exited for this book, but it was a great dissapoinment.. didnt recognize jacks and evangeline at all, the items seem very weak to me + expected more from the digital sprayed edges..

I thought this was a massive waste of money :( The items look and feel cheap, we just had a mug and paper item/print. The mug is just very flat. I think the design choice for the book is kinda weird as it is a book about nightmares and they decide to do pink. I think they could have done so much better, and the stenciled bird is hardly visible. Definitly a very big miss for me

Absolutely one of their weakest boxes, especially after opening Illumicrates. If I had opened them the other way around this video would have been a totally different mood!

The only item I liked in this box was the OUABH print haha, but i love that series. I agree the mug, pencil and necklace are a bit meh, but i think the necklace could be repurposed into a keyring? I cant wait for the IC video cause the items are sooo much better!! Im very much looking forward to reading this book! I quite like the colour change, though the edges are a bit pale for me. Defs not my fave box for the year I can tell already haha. But IC might just be.... I only get the items cause the difference with shipping is like $20, and sometimes you get lucky and can sell the items for that. I am moving too in about 6 weeks!! I am freaking out cause i hate moving haha, but ive been selling a lot of my book box stuff just to make a bit of extra money and also have less to move with me. I need to install fencing and security screens and just ugh. I am poor now haha.

I do think it would make a nicer keyring but I don't think it would live for every long! I'm moving in 10 days and I don't even know where I'm going to go because my house purchase isn't ready haha!! I did make a pile of books that I was planning to sell but I can't sell them, literally noone wants them. Some of the Fairyloot books are up for sale for £10 and I'm thinking for that price I might aswell keep them

@@Wanderness omg I feel that!! I am building a house and i am PRAYING I get the keys before our lease is up in May, as we didnt renew the lease.... But we can't move without fencing cause we have dogs!! Its very scary hey. I hope everything gets sorted out for you with the house cause the anxiety around it is just awful. and yeah I have had no luck with some books on the usualy place i sell (aussie book group) but i posted some on ebay and had some luck, and im going to try the illumicrate bss page too. But agreed I would rather keep them than sell them for less than what i think they are worth, especially if they are pretty. Like I couldnt get into EOTV but the edges are SO PRETTY.

Yeah on Mercari! Prints sell on Mercari and ebay, especially rosiethorn foiled prints. TBH I’m not a fan of the series or author but I would have been so excited to have seen this particular rosiethorn illustration as on of those rosiethorns 3d things they started doing! Like, what the hell? I would have FINALLY taken the time to bust out my exacto knife for this one! Such a missed opportunity.

This was my third Fairyloot box and I'll be honest, apart from the cup I've found the book and items really disappointing. It was very anti climatic considering there was a delay with it also. I wish they had picked a different book or done something else with it. It just looks completely different quality to December and January boxes.

Im subscribed, have been a long time now and as soon as ive opened my box I always come to your channel to see your opioions!! And ALOT of the time I completely agree with you, the necklace although lovely design does feel super cheap and as an illustrator myself I cant say getting art prints is my favourite thing (which I have alot of already from an art box) its getting to a point where I have too many lol! I do like the little bag, it fits a paperback of about 300 pages? Ish, and the mugs are lovely ive ahd 2 now but im so scared to use it incase I scrape the interior design off!! Im a huge Dinosaur fan though so this months book hooked my heart :D

I’m excited to read the book. After reading the synopsis I thought it sounded kind of cheesy and figured the book would either be really good or really bad. So, I read the kindle sample to decide whether or not to skip the box and enjoyed it so I’m hoping the book is great! It will be my next read unless I change my mind like I always do 😂 It’s funny how you talked about people just doing the book only boxes because of useless items and whatnot. I don’t know what most of the fandoms are. I signed up to Book Boxes to get more of a variety of fantasy books. I switched to book only for illumicrate (I hated their items) and the only reason I wanted the book & items from FL was because every few months they seemed to do two book boxes. I’ve been signed up since September and there’s only been one 2 book box. I do love the foiled mugs. I was really hoping the mug was going to be Once Upon a Broken Heart, but I do really love the print. Right now I’m reading The London Seance Society. So far I’m really enjoying it!

Generally as long as a book is my poorly written ill give it a go, but your tip about reading samples to decide if you want to skip is a really good one! I was actually thinking last night about how there hasn't been a two book box in a long time. They used to be about once a quarter, I think the last one was Twin Crowns which was about 7 or 8 months ago

Cheers to a fellow archaeology degree holder! I agree, an underwhelming box. I swapped back to OwlCrate when they started the Lord of the Rings bowls about a year ago and they’ve had so many more practical things. It seems Illumicrate has a similar consistency of practical items as well. I don’t subscribe to Illumicrate, but a friend of mine and I are constantly searching for their books and items secondhand. Currently reading Braiding Sweetgrass, Rebels of Gold, and Among the Beasts and Briars.

For the first time, an art print is my fav item...i don't know how i should feel about this. Even though i am not a fan of Once Upon A Broken Heart, i cannot deny their artwork is beautiful. I am a Fairyloot subscriber. I have 3 boxes so far and this April's box will be my last. I have never subscribed to Illumicrate though. Do I still get a bonus entry? I definitely subscribe to your channel to watch the unboxings, and I'm wondering what might be in the giveaway box... Does the adult Fairyloot come in an option for a book with items box that you know of? or is it just an option to have a book only subscription? I didn't see another option than book only but wasn't sure if I missed it somewhere. I don't really want to sign up for the YA box again since there are just too many YA books I don't really want and too many items I really would not use (as I commented on one of your other vids). I don't think I could justify the adult book only subscription for the price with shipping costs to the US but I would try it if it was going to come with items - ideally not jewelry as that will never be of a quality I would wear, as evidenced in this box. I do miss getting the unique cover and sprayed edged books especially since they started doing much better sprays with designs other than just a solid color. And the items that I did really like - mugs, the secret fake books, wood or metal bookmarks, trinket trays (I know you don't love multiples of those but I love them, mainly because I have too much random s**t on my shelves. So I can make use of them!). I love watching your reviews because you really cannot hide if you don't like something, I love that.

Unfortnately the adult subscription is book only with no items but if I'm honest I don't miss the items when I get it because the books have been so nice recently! The only items I would really miss are the upcoming secret books, and maybe even the tarot cards because I would be annoyed if I couldn't finish the set. Thank you, yes I'm a terrible poker player!

Thanks for sharing! I agree with you that I don't think the value is there either. I would have been disappointed by the items. Mugs and prints and bags have been done to death. The mug for me is not very usable with the foil on it as you can't put it in the dishwasher or microwave. The book is really pretty. Fairyloot really does a good job with them. You said pterodactyl correctly or at least in the US it's correct where the "p" is silent.

This is probably my least fav book design I’ve ever gotten from FL. It doesn’t match the vibes of the book to at all and I really like the OG American cover. I’m just hoping the copious amount of pterodactyls make sense after I read the book 😅.

This really wasn't a great box or book in my opinion. It's such a shame as I've waited months to get off the wait list and this was my second box so far. It annoys me that the boxes never come on time and then when they do turn up they're not that exciting (it seems to me, so far) I'll be selling my box on ebay for cost price.

It annoys me that renewals happen before delayed boxes come so you don't have the option of skipping or cancelling before getting the last box you paid for. I hope you manage to sell your box OK!!

Considering I tried to skip this box and couldn’t as I had already skipped January, was I over the moon to get this half empty box, nope no I wasn’t. Like the book for the same reasons you stated and the zipper bag, that’s it. I now have another item to go in a bundle I am putting together for Once Upon A Broken Heart as I am selling my pink FairyLoot copy. This box for me just nudged a 4/10
