I just bought the black on milanese version of this! It's absolutely gorgeous and the pictures don't do it justice. The concave bezel is actually very nice and hardly noticeable. The watch is also sooooo thin. I firmly believe it's impossible to accurately criticize this watch unless you're holding it in person. I took it to my local Breitling Boutique and the sales rep had never seen one before and was asking all about it. As a fan of the quirky and different, this is a Great buy!!

100m water resistance push in crown is way better than 100m screw in. You don't have to wear down the threads of the crown tube every time you want to wind or set your watch and it's the same amount of water resistance. Modern silicone gaskets last forever compared to their old rubber counterparts, and even a screw in crown is relying on the silicone gaskets for their water tightness. 100m is an insane depth. Most scuba divers aren't certified to go below 18m! That is one gorgeous Breitling. Love the colour. Love the style. I can't believe how good the 42mm bezel looks on a 6 1/2 inch wrist. Perfect fit. edit: the brooch comment is legendary 🙂

He doesn't understand. 100m water resistant doesn't mean you can dive to 100m under water 🤣🤣🤣 It refers to atmospheric pressure. So 50m wr is ok for surface swimming (as movements of your arm through water will effectively be 5ATM). 100m means swimming under water in a normal pool, maybe ok in surface swimming in the ocean only.

Some years ago i got a vintage, damaged 1970 Breitling skin diver for 600 € on a flea market , i took the risk ,and luckily i had the needed spare parts for overhauling . I love to wear it !🤗🤗🤗🤗

That Breitling is a stunner! I disagree and say it actually is a true diver with all of the desirable characteristics of a skin diver of the late '60's / early 70's era. I have Wittnauer, Gruen and Waltham skin divers of that era and they do not have screw down crowns either but have the thin and very comfortably wearable dimensions of your Breitling. And the crown of the Rado Captain Cook does not screw down either. Jason Heaton has mentioned on an episode of The Grey Nato that he has put the Captain Cook through its paces on several dives without issue as the gaskets are designed for diving even though the crown does not screw down. So enjoy and don't worry about getting it wet!

I saw this watch, few months ago... ...she's awesome ! For me, the only mistake Breitling makes wasn't making a screwed crown for a "little 150m" deep resistance like old dive watches.

Cool watch! Btw, a quick warning to all, I purchased a tudor BB chrono two-tone from Jomashop (about $6,000). The chronograph minute counter was broken & would jump in 15 minute increments. Returning it was terrible and took ages. They said nothing was wrong with it. I was on the hook for $40 in shipping costs. They then tried to bribe me with a partial rebate on shipping if I retracted my poor review of them. When I didn't, they called me a liar on a public forum.

great watch. if you're looking to own a vintage inspired piece there's no need to cry about things the watch is missing because the original didn't have them (higher water resist/screw crown). it's superb. also, i've purchased about 25 watches from joma over the years and while i've gotten a few where there's been issues from the manufacturer, i've never had an issue with joma making a return or refund extremely easy. enjoy the watch, great choice.

Don't feel bad! The 50 Fathoms, that started the dive watch craze in 1953, was water proof for ... 50 fathoms, that's 300 feet or 91 meters! The Rolex Sub Marinade (silly name, why would anybody want to marinade a submarine???), that started selling in 1954 was NOT a 200 meter watch either, it was originally a 100 meter watch! Both of them were used by none other than Jacques Cousteau and his crew for his spectacular research dives!

I honestly don't get why people who probably won't ever go much beyond the bottom of the local swimming pool or a sea snorkel dive would be concerned about it 'only' having 100 or whatever metres depth rating. It's never going to be tested beyond that, and if it were needing to go 200-300 there are other things it would be missing for a serious dive watch which would probably alter its design to the point you may not like it so much anymore. Don't worry about it, it's not a negative in any real way.

Years ago, I promised myself a Breitling, but after really getting into watches, I've bought Speedmasters and Tudors because they really fit my tastes. I love my Breitling Pistachio B09 chronograph. So dressy but has a lot of modern accents, and really fantastic finishing. I think Kern has done an amazing job with the company. Congrats on yours!

100M is deeper than any diver will go, meaning you can keep it on during a dive. The bi-directional bezel is surely a real bonus for most people and as for not being a real dive watch… don’t be soft. No watch is. It’s a beautiful functional watch you don’t need to remove whenever you go swimming. Or diving. Just wear it & love it & take 100 Hail Marys for perpetuating archaic dive watch myths! ✌️

To be fair russell , you could have got the 42mm captain cook new for around 2k. The bezel action is great and it has a screw down crown with better water resistance. It also has a lovely beads of rice bracelet and a leather deployment strap . Id argue its better looking especially on the sunburst green dial , its a stunner. Breitling is a great brand , but so are rado, and they are definitely underated, and the rotating anchor with the pop of red really adds to the coolness of them.

This is a retro diver thing of beauty MWC! Definitely cool to have something different in the watch box. Happy new watch day! I know a lot of people aren’t fans of divers only being rated to 100m but really it’s not the end of the world, particularly in a retro dive watch. Unless you actually use the watch when you go diving of course, but then you’d probably have a dive computer anyway so you can save the Breitling for your post dive cocktail soirée 😂

My beloved Breitling Galactic 41mm is shinier than a Cylon's Helmet and will burn your retina off if the sun catches it at the wrong angle. It's loud! One thing I was told by a grey market watch dealer though (when I made enquiries about selling), is that a "Buying a Breitling is buying it for life" (ooh I thought, great! They must be bloody special then!) before he followed that up with "because it'll be worth f*** all when you come to sell it, so you may as well just keep it." Truth is he was correct, so I guess eventually I'll be the blingiest chap in the Retirement Home. Huzzah!

In person, there’s just something about Breitling and their dial colors that makes them pop and look so incredible compared to other companies, especially the green. My 2 favorites I’ve tried are the new Avenger diver in green and the Chronomat chronograph 42mm in green.

I bought the heritage B20 at Christmas in steel and gold which is basically inspired from the original superocean so therefore ticks all the boxes your looking for (hopefully 😂) and it shouldn't look like an old ladies brooch 😅

The thin case doesn't mean lower water resistance. Do you think it will crush under pressure? Its the lack of a screw in crown that makes it lower.

It won’t crush under pressure, but a thinner case is more likely to deform ever so slightly allowing water ingress. And whilst a borderline capable design might stand up on day one of use, how might it fare after several repeated uses within its warranty period? It only takes a tiny amount of water to leak in and steam a watch crystal up.

I think Breitling makes some good pieces. Particularly, some of the older or vintage, diving, or military type watches. The problem with Breitling is they have tried to piggy back their retail prices off others like Rolex. Omega in many ways has done the same. Great history with Breitling and they do make some good quality but not for the ever increasing prices they are charging. Higher priced Breitlings can be nice still if pick up pre-owned. Great watch 😊

The watch showcased here is stunning! However, the strap doesn't complement the Art Deco design and seems out of place. Its design closely resembles that of the Rado Captain Cook, yet it appears more refined and appealing. Surely, Rado is envious of such elegance!

It’s a nice watch but it seem it’s not well aligned with the minutes markers or maybe it’s just the bezel. To be honest I would have go for the colt. But the important part is that if you like it.😃 by the way there was nothing to click on.

I’m surprised how different your superocean is from my 2017 model. My watch has 200 meters of water resistance, screw in crown, a flat ceramic ratcheting uni directional bezel and a Tudor movement with 70 hour power reserve. There is also a date window at 6 o’clock. I can only surmise that Breitling felt the need to produce a budget version of the watch that I own.

It was stumbling across a Breitling Chronomat in the late '90's that set me off on my passion for watches. Was 2nd hand, but mint condition with gold overiders and crown, with a light grey/brown dial with the 7750 movement in it. It cost me just under £1000 ☺those days are long gone, sadly so is the watch. Mysteriously vanished like a puff of smoke in a divorce 🤨

I got my Breitling Avenger from Joma and the bezel felt so cheap and junk I worried that I got a fake. Nope, the bezel was just that bad. I have $7 Wish watches that are better bezels. Bought a green Capt Cook in March. Loved it in the store lights. Have regretted it ever since. Hit me up if you want a good deal ;)
