The leather straps made by Vario specifically for the Royale are amazing, I've bought multiple. Highly recommend if you want something different from the default resin strap.

Three things! - MWC have you seen the Keith G shocks from a few years ago? They are good and shows he has been in the watch game a few years! - I went the route of getting an original for £299 and don’t think it’s too small for me - it’s in the metal bracelet maybe that helps make it feel more adult? - On the wife check. My fiancée has never had such a visceral reaction to a watch as my one - she hates it!

I respect and appreciate your honesty. Including the good bits, rather than just mindlessly piling onto it. This release is a lot of "could have been". Perhaps Tag will evaluate the situation and release a real version, with "Tag Heuer" branding, and priced appropriately (500 ideally, certainly no more than 999 for it, come on now). The Moonswatch was alright, by comparison. I went into a Swatch store, said to my wife "that's great but not for me" and went on with my watch collecting life. Tag was taking the Pith with this release.

As far as im aware the second hand is not supposed to line up with the index markers on the watch face, its supposed to line up with the markers on the bezel, something to do with the bezel needing to be more accurate in a diving situation as its the bezel thats the life saver, hence why they are normaly uni directional also.

I had an original WA1214 stainless steel with jubilee bracelet. Got it in 1995. My first analog watch in about 13 years at the time. I was and still am a big F1 fan. That watch was stolen from my bag while playing soccer in 2003. I loved it and was sad. So I see the nostalgia appeal for this reissue. But the official timer of F1 and the Tag Heuer name and logo that was shown on F1 races was a big reason I got this watch. So Kith Heuer is a hard No for me. The price tag (pun intended) is also a hard no. But I miss the cute little F1 watch that was my most expensive watch purchase ever at that time. So I went and got one, in good condition online for around £350 ($450). Nostalgia costs, but not 1500. 😊

My Seamaster was £500 in ‘93, which is the equivalent of £1350 today. Watch inflation is a completely different beast. Also the current F1 quartz is £1500 on a bracelet, so expecting ‘luxury watch brand TAG Heuer’ to offer these or any future TAG-only release for under £1000 is very optimistic. The bracelet versions of this are the only ones worth considering, should you have the £1350.

I bought the original stainless with the luminous green dial and black bezel in 1994 for 195 Gbp when I was aged 35 so not a child as such and regrettably sold it on ebay for 200 GBP recently as I only used it for three years before upgrading to another Tag of the same mid size which was the normal size back then and my daughter now wears it every day. Would have kept it if I could have foreseen it being reissued all be it in a down market form as like most people, I have never heard of Kith as a fashion brand. Now that I am in my sixties it seems a bit boyish for my still immature tastes but have recently acquired the Blancpain + Swatch black Ocean of Storms which is all plastic and priced at around 350GPB which may be a more comparable price for this reissue as Blancpain and Swatch are more highly regarded than Kith and Tag Heuer although still very fond of this Tag Heuer which may have been one of the first collaborations between a watch brand and a car parts manufacturer.

You got it right: most watch brands don’t give a sh*t about us. I’m trying to understand this one but there is no brand strategy that justifies “butchering” the brand name and “selling out” an icon for a ridiculous partnership with a ridiculous luxury brand unless this is a money grab. This was the first watch I got, 32 years ago at 15 (still have it, obviously) with all the savings I had (and the start of this looney hobby). I’m fortunate to have amazing watches, affordable and expensive, but Tag Heuer has been in the collection through the years, down to the recent Carrera Glassbox. I know they don’t give a sh*t about us but as a hardcore fan I’m insulted by this release and I regret defending them against critics all these years.
