I can't believe how fun this sport is. I think it is a sport? Anyway for over a year I have been riding the 16X which is such a fun nimble wheel. I decided to finally upgrade to an off road wheel and after way too much confusing and frustrating research I went with the V14.
Over the next few months I will learn to ride this on and off road. I live in the middle of some of the best off road trails in WA and I can't wait to see what this wheel and myself are capable of.

The pads are a personal thing. Generally speaking, the tighter the pads, the more responsive it feels. Sometimes, there isn't a lot of real estate for pads on the side of the wheel, so the pads are tight by default; therefore, some people cut their pads to size to get exactly the right feel. Having more room between your pads makes the wheel slightly less responsive, but it gives you more leverage when torquing it because you can better lean into it with your body weight. You want the pads to be tight when doing technical off-road tracks but loose if you are riding high speeds on roads or race tracks. Most people do a bit of both. The other thing is ride mode. Hard mode means there's very little tilt when you lean and this is the most responsive but tiring mode of riding. Soft mode gives you the most tilt so you can really lean into to it when accelerating. It gives you the most power but the wheel is less responsive. Medium mode is where I sit. Hope this helps!

Thats huge! Thanks so much. I have some adjustments to make. Great info on the hard vs soft mode as well. I have been going back and forward trying it but wasn't really sure what it did.

I just got the same wheel last week (also upgrading from a smaller non suspension EUC), and was about to make a similar unboxing video lol. I definitely resonate with both your commentary on so many differing opinions about the best EUCs vs just getting what you think will best fit your particular needs, and about feeling like your learning to ride for the first time again on the bigger suspension wheel. Solid video!

I’ve been going back and forth for a while like yourself and this is definitely top of my list. I think the biggest selling factor is the Smart BMS and being able to check each cell. I think this is the only wheel that has that capability within the app. Seeing the footage of the S20 demo unit flare up caused me to be bit more cautious in my selection. The only real downsides I can see is the speed cap. I wished the limit was 47 - 50 mph for to be able to take the wheel in a 45 zone to navigate heavy intersections with no bike paths. Also the seat, since it covers the charge ports. I suspect it won’t last as long from the wear and tear of being removed all the time. The torque will be a real benefit taking this into Seattle with so many steep hills. I really love that orange! BTW, if you want to save your wheel from too many scratches while you’re getting acquainted, I’d recommend tying a short length of rope to it that way you can hold it up right should you happen to jump off

No it's not, the s20 was a prototype sent for reviewers to test, since then no more fires kingsong has an explanation video for what happened. Ks s20 was the first with bms, then came, begode extreme, v13(?), v14, veteran lynx, ET max, any wheel you choose you won't regret it. Eucs aren't perfect since manufacturers are cheap but Holy crap it's a addiction

Congrats on the purchase of a fantastic wheel! The rectangular pieces at 6:30 are to increase the dihedral angle of the pedals which most people probably won't use as it reduces comfort. I like my pads with a bit of space for my legs to move and to prevent rubbing against my shin but there is no right and wrong on the positioning as long as you find it comfortable. You can lower the tire pressure to make the ride more comfortable but make sure you add tire slime first because lower tire pressures increases the risk of getting flats.

Good point on the buying now especially for the first few wheels you'll own, although I think you'll find yourself considering more criteria once you find yourself using it for much more than you initially thought. Try raising the rear "brake" pads a bit, it might give you more leverage for braking. I like to ride with my right leg touching the rear pad and the other leg touching the front pad, gives me some sense of control without being too loose. Both legs touch both pads under hard acceleration and braking. Also provides additional contact points, which to my mind reduces wobbles. My pads are also not symmetrical when viewed from the top, right pads are more in front - I accelerate by leaning somewhat towards my 11-oclock if that makes sense. I am not sure if that reduced my wobbles or if my mind was conditioned to think that way. For tires, I worry about pinch flats so I ride at 35 psi on a suspension wheel, and compensate for ride comfort by adjusting the shock. It takes some getting used to. I ride mostly street to commute but live in a pothole infested city/country. You learn more about how you want to ride by just riding more. Even at ten thousand kms, I'm still learning. Keep safe and have fun.
@CfTesla
@CfTesla Ай бұрын
Wow you have put some distance on that thing! Thanks for the good advice on the pads. It sounds like there is not real right or wrong way to do it more just what is comfortable. I will have to keep experimenting around and I want to try the setup as you state to see the difference. The problem is they are so fricking hard to take off and on. That velcro is no joke.

I personally like my pads to hold my foot down nice and tight for jumping up curbs and offroad use. I like the back pad to be against the back of my leg when standing fully upright. The top of the front pad is where it can vary; the more you lean it forward, the harder you can accelerate. It also gives your legs room to bend in case of a really big bump if you have them more forward. I’m sure there’s plenty of videos about this; these are just my personal needs. I’m a speed demon that accelerates like he’s trying to touch his toes.
@CfTesla

Thanks for the advice. I am still messing with them. There are videos but not that I could find with the similar pads to mine. Max speed for me is still 31.5 but I am working my way up.

I have an electric mountain bike, an electric scooter, an electric skateboard, an electric motorcycle, and two electric unicycles. EUC is the funnest damn thing ever. I run my tire pressure way down in the low 20s. If I ride at 30 psi I am much more prone to speed wobbles. I leave space between my legs and the power pads so they only engage when I hard accelerate or haed brake. I use whiteout on the Velcro so that I can see Where I had the pads and make adjustments but use the white out as a reference to where I was.
@CfTesla

Yeah, it's really hard to choose which EUC to get, there's so many of them. Someone may like one wheel, but then someone could absolutely hate it. It's best to do as much research on wheels as much as possible and make an educated decision which one will serve you best.

Hey man, I'm in the same boat. I have 16x and am considering upgrading to v14 Is it possible and easy to push this unicycle up the stairs? Unfortunately there is no elevator in my building, and I'm thinking about buying it, but it would be a pain in the ass to have to climb 3 floors every day with ~40 kg. I can't find anyone showing that sadly witch v14. Maybe you can record that? With 16x is simple and fast when I just lift it and going up and down. If it comes to pads, its depends what the raider like. Cheers mate.

You don't need to be tight with the pads unless you do aggressive or offroad riding, i suggest to not put you foots on the center of the pedals but about 1 inches to the front it makes better acceleration also you legs will be less tired so you can enjoy longer rides, also with those powerful wheel i suggest you to adjust the mode to smooth or medium so you will accelerate and break more effortlessly... Tire pressure i recommend for this model and your weight is between 31 to 35psi. Enjoy your ride wear gear and be careful. Take care

@@CfTesla I can't help you with that i have never owned an Inmotion my main wheel right now is the Lynx so i have a slider bar from soft to hard mode from 0% to 100% in the app so take a look in the app i heard Inmotion have probably the best and complete app in all EUC market... I used to always ride in hard mode with my older wheels but the Lynx is so powerful its harder to lean forward and get good acceleration or breaking, my sweet spot is 55%

if you ever have extra time to burn on a practice session, try to figure out a technique to ride without the pads. i learned on an mcm5 and a exn without pads. pads unlocked the higher speeds and control, but the fundamentals of learning how the wheel responds from purse weight and feel, without the pad toque is useful.
