You're the loveliest plant in the house, Becca, so you deserve the most care! I think you've done very well with this move; I'm definitely following your example of using big boxes whenever I need to move my collection.

It is always crazy and chaotic whenever moving. Most plants and pots are replaceable ♥️. Before my last move I started saving all the extra packing I received from my deliveries to help secure my personal items/plants (cheaper and helps with waste). Also, getting a big thing of packing paper ($15 at Walmart) and using it to wrap my cacti and crumple it up to add padding between plant pots was a lifesaver! Can't wait to see how the sunroom turns out!

My favorite moving tips for pots and even just glass items is using out of season clothes. So when I moved in the summer I used my winter clothes to wrap and cushion my plants and pots. Also extra towels and potholders ❤

Hi Becca I’ve been waiting for this video & here is what I did with my garden brought from California to Southern Indiana in a 52 feet uhaul truck! I did it myself. First of all my stuff from house was already packed & left plants for last because I wanted them to place them first in the uhaul 😊 when coming crossing country states have laws for agriculture & will not let you cross it if they see a plant… I learned it when traveling in the southern states. First of all, I had plants 🍃 big plants that couldn’t get them off pots 😮 they were stuck & didn’t want to hurt their roots so I left them be, also I had pots I didn’t want to break by just trying to get plant out 🙏🏼 so I placed little boxes, blankets, pillows & anything that could prevent rubbing with each other 😊 also, because furniture & other belongings are heavy & weight makes spend more $$$ on gas I decided to remove as much soil of my plants and protect their pots. I wrapped each pot well, placed them in plastic containers that are stronger than simple cardboard boxes and did this for at least 5 days and loaded my uhaul truck first with plants. Also I had plant sizes that were kind of to the middle of length of the high of the uhaul truck, so I placed wooden boards above to protect them, and then put cardboard boxes that were household items. It took me days… from morning to dawn but I did it! I did not left an empty hole in that uhaul so things wouldn’t come out of the location I placed them 🙏🏼 also knew that going uphill things were going to be hard but I figured out that drivers in the highway were very good giving me my space & time. I also placed a rope & tied to the uhaul wall to prevent friction. I traveled in July of 2022 & I encountered at least three big storms starting from New Mexico through Missouri & I only pray once asking my God not to let me die alone 😂 it was a very big challenge ❤ as I only drove during the day & resting at night 🙈 I remember one day I drove only few hours because of the storms & I couldn’t see much! That 😳 I ask myself 😊 Would I do this again? Yes, I would 😱 I had plants with me for years & I feel this is my duty and hobby 🦋 In the winter my husband & I built a greenhouse & placed them there & I get them out by March or April when weather is becoming warmer for them. Like you, I grew up in desert 🐪 desert 🐪 zone & I have a big collection of cactus 🌵 that I love very much 😊 I think you did an amazing job ❤ considering you travel with a baby 😂

I’ve used brown lunch bags for tiny plants and large brown paper grocery bags for larger plants or a couple similar leaved plants in a bag together then put the bags into boxes. Helps protect leaves and the clanging pots 🤞🏼

Great to hear that your plants trvalled overall well! :) When I moved, I used clear plastic totes for the plants, and then just left them by the window while figuring out my new place :D They were packed there for about two weeks and they were OK. But I did not bring my big plants with me, just small ones (I did not have enough space for all sadly) so I packed the small ones in the totes and I brought just cutiings from my big plants with me, so I could start them over. That way I was able to bring all of the ones I loved, even tho not all of them were full plants yet. :D BTW, the plastic totes are the way to go even if you are leaving on vacation! I had my small plants in them while away for 3weeks and they were thriving! :)

Hey Becca!! I admire you and all you do!! I wanna be like you!! 😊 I wondered if you could take large boxes together, like take one box and close the flaps for the bottom and then take another box and don't close the flaps, instead just tape them together to make a tall box!!!

Oh wow Becca this move was great and I think you packed your plants as good as possible and sometimes plants can be damaged when packed for a time. I think most of your plants look pretty good and I am sure you will work through the ones that didn't survive. Looking at all the plants in thise room it is great, and I do understand how to pack plants. I think that you have done well with this move and I am really excited in seeing more plant care and how they will survive. Thanks so much Becca, have a great rest of your day, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😊🥰💜💜💜💜💜

I know your move is done but what if you punched hole in the boxes with your large plants and use wire/twin/jute/rope to secure them so they don't move around as much? Maybe that would help I'm not entirely sure

Congrats on finally getting into your new place! ❤️ When I moved with my plants I used hand towels and wash clothes to wrap around the base of my pots I put in boxes so they wouldn’t be hitting eachother. I moved 2 states apart and no casualties luckily! I’d definitely recommend that to anyone when moving with plants and also do what you did and box as many up as you can. It protects the plant but also saves space in the moving truck or your car 😊

When I've moved across country twice I've put big plants in the boxes then fill the spaces with smaller plants. It's like a game of Tetris and takes time, but the plants don't move at all. My large trees I wrap with bubble wrap then paper. But securing them in the truck is difficult. You moved to another state with a small child, you did a GREAT job. Cudos for not selling half your collection like most of us probably would because moving with lots of plants is hard!

The only time I have had to move my plant collection was just a few miles across town and I had quite a while to do it. I found a plastic laundry basket to be a great method since the handles are so sturdy and its easy to clean!

I think k I was literally moving at the same time you were! I didn't move a long distance but it was in close to 100° weather which was not ideal! One tip is to downsize any plants you don't love starting in the weeks before the move. Also be prepared for some casualties, in large collections it's gonna happen. Happy settling in to you! I'm still slowly organizing and arranging but my new house has great light so I'm happy 😊

Ooh I personally don’t play too much but my husband convinces me to play sometimes 🤣 he has a nintendo64 that we play a few games on (names? Idk 😭 haha) and then on the PlayStation we have played the hogwarts game, and there’s a home improvement game that I play that is really fun!! Haha but I mostly just play Nintendo switch games if I’m in a gaming mood. Animal crossing ofc, Mario kart, overcooked, jeopardy/wheel of fortune, just stuff like that! 🎮

@@BeccaDeLaPlants I wish I had a Nintendo!! I grew up with Nintendo but haven't had a console from them since the Wii 😅 I'd love to get a switch so I could play all of those games! I really miss Animal Crossing (I had City Folk on Wii), and Mario! & Hogwarts Legacy is so fun! I play that on xbox :) You'd probably also enjoy Disney Dreamlight Valley too if you like AC! Super cozy chill game, really good for relaxing :)

I wonder with the larger scale plants if you could protect them with cardboard but pick up a roll of shrink wrap at Sam's Club or where ever and wrap them together like you were larg scale saran wrapping them.

I have watched a few plant moves to a new home so i can get ideas from. Yes definitely need craft paper to wrap large plants to move them. Also if can get tall cardboard box is a bonus for them. I tend to save packaging and boxes aswell. I have experienced getting plants online where they just throw in all the plants without being packaged is a nightmare and have lost plants aswell.

You did a great job moving, and the new plant room is pretty and cheerful. When Sydney Plant Guy on YT moved, he tied (with bungie cord?) his large plants to the inside side walls of the van, his van had a bar along the inside, seemed to work well.

My #1 tip Anything you order to the house from a planter to a piece of furniture you put together keep the card board corner protectors from inside the box and all the the styrofoam. I keep a large black 55 gallon garbage bag in the garage and I save all the styrofoam in one and those reenforced cardboard corners in another preplanning for my next move. Then when its time to move I can use those to keep my planters from knocking together in bottom of the boxes. Those corner pieces you find are also great for putting around cactus for strength.
