I just bought an old jar of “jewelry materials” at an antique store. Can confirm, if you’re a rockhound/ mineral collector, a container of surprise materials is an almost… intoxicating experience. Not much in this world gets me that excited. Too bad I’m broke rn lol

Tom is a fluorescence person. So am I, when I've sifted through parcels of random gems my favourite tool to use is my UV torch.

Tom, please post "fluorescence" clips. Love that distinguishing factor! The rectangular blue stone at the end appears to be a zircon, and the pear shaped one, a fluorite, even though sight-id is a no-no regardless of facet doubling. LOL. I can't imagine how many pieces of jewelry are destroyed just to get the gemstones out for testing. Sawing vs. prong lifter around main gemstones....hmm.

The survey came...and I responded. A little later saw "gemstones live".... it wasn't you folks. It was slick, and sales . Like the jewelry shows. And those are ok but I wanted YOU. Fun and informative and yes I probably would go check out a product, but that wasn't the point of the show. So, if you could add that to survey comments....? Just a response. :)

I love my gym identification equipment, but I will tell you this You need more than just a loop you need a Polaris scope, a loop a UV flashlight a refractometer which will be your best friend then you’ll be on your way if you can get a microscope, that would be cool too, but they are sort of expensive but the refractometer will tell you a bunch even though there’s a couple of more tools I’m missing you for sure. Will need some tools to positively identify the stones, but if you get the equipment buying parcels like this to make jewelry would be splendiferous. If they are not trying to play you.😂 a lot of those stones are worth more than just 100 bucks so once you set them in a piece of jewelry, you’ve made your money back
