I guess the “long joint” isn’t necessarily so “long” these days! I haven’t been playing bassoon much for quite a while, although ironically, I have played a bit of contrabassoon the past couple decades. It looks like they’ve changed a bit over the years! For example, I hadn’t seen the low Ab/Bb trill key. I also see a tab attached to the low-C key, apparently to let you close it without also closing the low D. What is that used for?

Looks great! One question, why is the Eb trill in the left hand for most European horns, but some American horns have it for the right hand. I prefer the right hand because it’s an excellent all purpose trill key.... excellent audio by the way! Nice video!

A matter of choice, I guess. Our Amsterdam Model is obviously meant for the European market and, although there are many European players that prefer a right hand Eb trill key, we made this choice

Hello and thanks for asking. No, it doesn’t make any difference. It’s the same varnish, one is polished to high gloss, the other variant is only sanded

Y played shostakovitz 10th with my Bell bassoon. It was my Last performance at the Solis theater . It was nice . Very nice !
