Sailing is one of the things that has saved my life. 2019 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. It spread to my lungs and I was told I had a 20% survival rate. I found sailing in that time, all I thought about and watched was sailing all through my operations and treatments. Went to the local yacht club and found a boat to race on and now I have a cruising sailboat of my own. I thank god and I thank god for sailing. And I thank you ❤️

For your nav desk, don’t glue those down. Have them laminated. Then get a piece of tempered glass cut and beveled the same size as the desk. Put the laminated papers in place on the desk and lay the glass over them (hoping you have some sort of edge or fiddle to keep it in place). This way everything is protected and easily cleaned, but also can be changed/rearranged too.

Congrats on the Rudder. That’s a big deal and accomplishment. I hope it works out perfect. I’m sure it will. Just on a more broad subject here. It’s amazing that you “only have” about 2 million subs. It’s kind of like KZbin’s best kept secret. Your channel adds value to the KZbin space. There are many creators who may have more subs (not that sub count matters to you) but most of them aren’t contributing near the quality of content that you provide all of us.. You have brought sailors and non sailors together and have created a sailing community, all of which, if they aren’t already, would like to become sailors. The way you have taken your life and made it relatable to the every day person is an accomplishment. Your passion and enthusiasm for life in general is what is so attractive. And it’s what draws your community together. Anyhow, not to linger on. Keep it up guys.

Rapido isn't the first yard to offer a T-foil rudder. Dazcat has them on some of their boats and works exactly as intended. Much less hobby-horsing with no major downsides.

The kicking up on impact part of the rudder is actually an old Bernd Kohler design. His original design uses either springs or bungees to reset the rudder position to vertical immediately after the impact. He also had a design that allowed the rudder to lift vertically to enable access to shallow water and to enable his smaller designs to be easily trailerable. Its great to see you're thinking like highly experienced naval architects and breathing new life into old ideas.

A good idea for the posters is sheets of acrylic. It will give a durable surface, protect the poster, and make it easy to change. You could even use dry erase markers over the top for fun. Use screws or magnets on the corners to sandwich the sheet and poster onto the surface.

You've asked what feeling you get from sailing. I've always said for me it's like flying! I've always loved the quiet ( when you can finally shut off the engine )! I sold my boat this past spring, as my 65 year old body can no longer take the rigors of sailing. My younger sister and I had a lot of fun sailing the coast of Maine for years, but all things must come to an end. So now I will have to live vicariously through you guys.
