Nice video - it makes me want a new machine. Accuracy and Precision (not the same thing) start here, with the install. Having a rigid floor, making sure that the machine is perfectly level, keeping the shop temperature and humidity to spec, gently bringing the machine to life, bringing out the beast from within. What a beautiful machine, can't wait to see what you'll do with it!
@465maltbie2 жыл бұрын
I do see from the video how you ran the power, it is a good practice to have the flexible conduit at the machine. Glad to see you are doing that, perhaps you can do a video about how to install a machine and some of the things you need to think about for layout and plumbing. Not directly machining related but a good thing for people who might be buying a machine to get an idea of all the extras you might not think about in advance. Charles

I fully agree here, i had a horrible time explaining to a customer about why a shop/factory needs a compressor Or why you can't just use 120 for a $980k machine (same guy) The surrounding equipment can be absolutely crucial and sometimes essential (like proper electricity or air)

I love new machine day too. Just today we signed a purchase agreement for a 2019 Doosan LYNX 2100 lathe with about 300 hours on it. On the cheap at that. Tons of great used iron out there right now. We've got some Star swisses on order but they're nearly 8 months out. Nice machine you are showing off but it's not where we're trying to go. Swiss is where the money is at for us. Low labor, high output. They're like printing presses.

Titan's next machines need to be a really massive pig cooker and a retired Army mobile kitchen trailer. Get one that'll do five to ten pigs and hire a crew to come in starting Thursday night and sell/deliver Friday lunches to the rest of that industrial park you're in. Call it Titan-Q. With the kind of class the rest of your operation has, this can't help but be a success.

Love it! Absolute beast of a machine, interesting seeing those beast-y rails and ball screws, and those massive bearing blocks. Interesting you're starting to show the parts that build up the machine, I encourage tenfold. I appreciate learning from the ground up, I think that's why I had to attempt to build my own CNC to give credit to the craft, and be humbled by how damn hard it is to make a CNC machine. Totally not planting seeds for a Titans desktop CNC.

how does DN solutions compare to DMG Mori or TAKAMAZ? Both these competitors told us of similar horror stories about Doosan. I've always been interested in getting one but upper management keeps drinking the coolaid. are there business cases that Doosan can provide proving they provide long lasting production machine tools?
@TITANSofCNC2 жыл бұрын
The machines are 20-40% less expensive than some of the other top premier machines and provide a nice step up for those moving from Haas to a high level machine. We machine titanium, Inconel and most materials to tolerance. They are the best bang for the buck.
@michaelwhite61102 жыл бұрын
@@TITANSofCNC Are there companies 200+ employees that are using these in a production setting and having success? Any names you can give out?
@peterCheater2 жыл бұрын
I mean, you get what you pay for and depends on your application. Any name brand machine can provide long term lasting production. If its tight tolerance like +/- .0005 then you obvioisly want to set up to a DMG or Okuma. If its +/- .001 the Doosan is capable. If its +/- .0000# then a Hermle and Kern is your answer. Kern > Hermle > Makino > DMG > Doosan > Mazak > Haas

Haha yeah if they're running the machines hard, got climate control to keep all that space a constant temp, big ol air compressor, and some other stuff. We've got 2 20-30 hp Haas mills and I think we spend more on our light than what the mills use haha. we're a job shop, rarely go over 10 hp on the spindle, and don't run the machines all day everyday. Depends on what they're running, may not use as much as you think.
@highpointsights2 жыл бұрын
what is the difference between "bridge" and "gantry"?? It looks to me like the gantry machines we used to build???? In my last california shop we had a gantry machine that an "X" axis around 10-12 feet, maybe a little more!!!
@kdr0824752 жыл бұрын
A gantry mill moves the entire machine over the table. A bridge is more of a fixed position machine. Way more rigid than the gantry. 12 feet is just a baby when it comes to gantry mills. We got one that is around 25 feet. But we have a very old okuma that is a bridge mill that was a converted NC machine. It repeats numbers better than any machine in the shop. Not super fast but it is amazingly accurate.
