Despite being a fan for over 40 years, I'm quite happy with just one CD of this album. They do look quite striking and can understand why so many fans are annoyed at the multiple releases, especially if you thought you had every edition that was going to come out! Always good to see an unboxing video from you.

It’s so nice that Capitol can not only send out free copies to people on KZbin (hey maybe one day you’ll get free Beatles stuff too, Andrew) but they can send it overnight as well. Yet for the customers actually paying for the stuff from the official stores plus shipping costs, we would be lucky to get it within a week or two of release. But anyway, HEY MPL, We’re good on McCartney 3 , ( you couldn’t even bother to include any bonus tracks, even if they were the ones previously released to make it more enticing for fans of the music rather then some colored vinyl :x ) But besides that- WE WANT MORE ARCHIVE EDITIONS ALREADY. Hell even if its just a “coming soon” card that used to be included in older sets to let us know that the archives are still a going concern. You can even mail them to prominent youtubers to build hype!

I think they’ve lost a lot of people on this one. Most annoyed will be the completists who loyalty bought all those variations three years ago, but are now being told that they can’t buy the lot without gambling their money and buying lots in the hope they get the full set. Well, the eBay sellers will be happy - they know there will be people out there happy to pay extra knowing what they will receive.

I don't feel sorry for completists who bought every version of the first run. At least one variation has ben trading for several thousand dollars. So they can easily get their outlay back and buy a stack of this new edition in hope of getting all 3 variants.

@@classicrock7890 I know what you mean. I'm not one of those completists, but I think it's a shame for those that are that it has become more difficult for them to get these. Sure, if you can spend a couple of thousand or more on the 333 edition, this shouldn't be a problem, but some people got 333 at a normal price when it came out. I just think this new release takes advantage of those completists who have already put a lot of money into MPLs and Capitol's accounts. It just reeks of spitting in the face of that loyalty. If they'd allowed buyers to choose which ones to get from this new release, then it would be no problem for those who want everything while the record company would still get its money.

He blew the McCartney Archive Collection wide open when Flaming Pie got released in 2020… there is still so much stock of those. A real shame we might not get London Town and BTTE, simply because of the way Flaming Pie went down… Otherwise, I completely agree. He’s rereleased this album like 5 times in 3 years!! Enough!!

I think this is severely trying to overmilk this album, which is not one of Paul's best by a long shot (in my opinion). I see that a lot of people are going to give this a miss. Maybe that will send Capitol (and Paul, who has to go along with this nonsense) a wake-up call. While you're at it, the $600 "Super-deluxe amazingly special limited-edition" box sets can also be deep-sixed. Sometimes I think Paul has forgotten what it was like to be a typical fan, when he would have to save up his pennies to afford even a 45.

Yeah there’s no way Universal would be allowed to do this without some sign-off from MPL. And someone there would have to provide the handwritten sheets for them to reproduce in the inserts. IMO this seems more like the sort of idea Paul would come up with than the record company.

I use a guitar pick to cut the cellophane to take the record out. It’s less likely to damage the vinyl. Thank you for this review.

I have a few issues here - firstly, there is absolutely no need for Capitol to be releasing 3 new editions just 3 years after the initial release. There are other McCartney & Wings albums that are long overdue a re-release/first release on vinyl/special edition treatment. Secondly, the randomness of what the buyer is being sent leaves a really bad taste. Vinyl is expensive enough these days without subjecting collectors to a lucky dip, that could end up very, very expensive indeed by the time they finally manage to get all 3 variants. If Capitol can manage to send KZbinrs all 3 variants (that’s no happy accident, as it wouldn’t have looked great had all 3 of Andrew’s copies been the same!), they could quite easily have put an identifier on the barcode or a label to allow collectors to buy the variant they want/need. Again, sticks in the throat as a blatant cash grab. Anyway, just my tuppence worth, plenty will disagree with me! Finally, thanks for all your fab videos, Andrew. Really appreciate the hard work you put into your content. It’s unmissable! Long may you continue. 😊

Haha, I love McCartney for this release! Its really separating the collectors from the smart collectors. And no, he’s not doing it to add to his life savings, or because he’s clueless. Its 3 variants of McCartney lll on its 3rd anniversary. You either want it or you dont… but serious collectors know THIS is when you buy. THIS will be the really rare/valuable stuff ten-plus years from now! Its the original copies that wont be. Just because you dont want to spend the money doesnt make it stupid.

I’ve only ever a streamed this album and never bought a physical copy either in cd or vinyl, and to be honest, it does look quite unique. I know a lot of people aren’t happy about this release because maybe they’ve already got several versions of this album either in CD or vinyl and don’t want to buy any more, but if you haven’t got a copy, this may be the one to go for. Just got this in the post. What I didn’t pick up from your video was that when I took the cellophane wrap off the full screen print high gloss lettering inking was revealed in all its glory against the Matt board sleeve set against a lovely halftone image of Paul. Interesting to see the work in progress inserts. This is a work of art on multiple levels. BTW my copy was in a proper record mailer and completely intact inside and out.

Those look pretty sweet, but it's a shame they're tying up valuable presses to repress this again, 3 years later. Also, is it too much trouble for Paul (or anyone else that matter) to insist on using a poly-lined inner sleeve? They can still include the printed inner and other inserts, but there's really no excuse for not having a poly one of some sort these days since they likely cost only a few cents each. 🤷🏻

As unnecessary releases go this has to be in the top three of all time. Reminds me of that hilarious “ hand poured” color vinyl of Let it Bleed. Just a total waste of time. You know it is possible to go to the well too many times. This release is a good example. I know Paul is getting on but can’t help but feel he just isn’t paying enough attention to whats going out in his name.

Very nice indeed Andrew, you are a lucky and worthy chap to get and promote these. I still think that it's an obnoxious release and I will not be purchasing them. One thing to note is that quality control is substandard re those inner sleeves, I wonder how many people will return theirs as I'm sure most buyers will be collectors who quite rightly expect optimum quality.

I can’t help thinking that for what it cost then to send the promo to me in Australia, they could have just sent me a copy of the LP 🤔 Anyway, despite some feeling of cynicism over this release, I have ordered a copy - mostly because, while I am generally a sucker for coloured vinyl, I didn’t bother with them back in 2020.

They know most of us may not open it and those that do will look at it and maybe play it once and file it. We McCartney fans just want his releases. This is really the end of the road for me. I bought every single vinyl variant of III up to now, but I won't spend another 100+ on yet another version. The 3333 units yellow/black splatter showed that the marked is more than over saturated and the records will hardly be able to hold their value in the forseeable future. It's really a drag. Instead of creating unique collectors pieces they devaluate the medium and the music more and more. From now on, I will wait and pick out the one variant I like best. Did that with the Stones and Chili Peppers and it was very satisfying (and comparably cheap :)

I can't remember how many of these I bought first time. It might have been two on coloured vinyl and one or two on CD? I actually think it's Macca's best work for years so I play it a lot. I'm a sucker for splatter vinyl - I bought and loved the blue and yellow Paul Smith issue of Bowie's "Space Oddity" for instance although that is a different pattern; the recent Slade reissues; The Zombies "Odessey and Oracle"; Zappa's "Hot Rats" - so I'm tempted by the first copy you opened Andrew. However... I have the same obvious reservations because apart from the less attractive alternative sleeve it's the same content and I only have so much cash and shelf space! Also the only way to secure that particular copy is to pay big money on eBay and it is Xmas time when I have to get other people some presents. They are, to say the least, milking it aren't they? Weren't there any unreleased tracks from these sessions? I seem to remember there was a rumour there were - including a 7" single from the album with a different B-side or something to sweeten the pill would be more enticing. I snapped up the 2CD version of the new Stones album because of the live tracks despite owning a few copies of that because of the extra content which I heard today and is stunningly good. And where are the last two Wings box sets we're all desperate to hear? if I were younger I may get my head around having a virtual record collection by simply watching your excellent videos for the vicarious thrill of filing the memories of these issues in my Mind Palace but I am addicted to physical product so I guess I'm off to eBay for a nose about as soon as I post this! Hi Andrew - without reading 306+ comments...I did notice on your second copy that the UPC code is 744-2. I saw it on the 2nd poster I believe. I'm wondering if you can tell the variants by the UPCs. I work at a record shop and usually we can tell which pressing is which by the UPCs. That's how we check against the shipping list vs what was received. 🙂

It is interesting to me that you received the records fron Capitol, and they are the German pressings. I like the look of the colors, being a first generation fan the tie dyed style the best of the three, It is a little disappointing that there aren't any additional songs, since the akbum has been out for as long as it has.

I can see collectors opening their copy, going "I've got that one" and then keep returning their copy for an exchange due to the split inner sleeve, until they get one they haven't got. That's what i'd do, but i'm not mad enough on the album to buy this addition anyway. I'll stick to my HMV blue one, well i think it's blue from memory, i havent played it since 2021 as it's not anywhere near the top of my list to play.

The vinyl is REALLY beautiful on these. I especially like the first one, which looks like a vinyl version of a Floyd show from UFO! Special edition collectors marketing has been common with comic books and toys for years. Uncynical Viewpoint: It's a way for artists to make money from lagging physical sales, so perhaps it's not a bad thing.

It was nice of Capitol to send you the full set, Capitol almost! But I was still left wondering about whether the insert for each different coloured vinyl is standard to that particular colour variation in the vinyl, or can the insert vary as well? And are there only three inserts? Still, as long as the music remains good and McCartney can now focus more on, say, a 'Back To The Egg' Wings archive collection, or something else the fans wait for, patiently, then okay.

The inserts (there are only three) are each associated with one particular coloured vinyl. The ones you see in Andrew’s shipment will be the same everywhere.

While I would say archive reissues of albums like London Town and Back To The Egg are a must, and would’ve been much more appreciated than this, I think reissues of Run Devil Run, Driving Rain, Memory Almost Full, and Kisses On The Bottom would be better. Copies of London Town and Back To The Egg are plentiful, while these other albums aren’t. I understand the extras those archives would include would make it worthwhile but I feel repressed should be in order by this point of those albums I mentioned, sort of in the style they did in 2017-2019 with the black and colored vinyl reissue campaign. I would say Off The Ground too but I feel that album and any other prior probably are more suitable for archive reissues. Regardless, pretty pointless edition, won’t be a last minute add on to the Christmas list this year I’m afraid. Edit: Should also mention that while the randomness is a dumb aspect in my opinion, it’s not the first time that an album has been put out like this, taking In Through The Outdoor for example, and that one had SIX album cover variations.

Once a record dealer showed me how to open the plastic foil seal without a knife: sit down, relax, put the album with the open side on your thigh and rub it quickly until you feel some heat on your skin. This will melt the seal and you can open the foil gently with your fingers or you can do the rest with some scissors. Easy! About the music: I have to listen first by streaming. As I read the comments on this video and so many other "re-issue" videos, it's strange to me how so many people get upset at the different reissues. Nobody is being forced to get these. Just be happy with the release you've already got. Collecting should be fun. If you enjoy collecting, you shouldn't mind paying money for another reissue because collecting comes with paying that extra money. But there's no reason to balk at it all. No reason to be upset at Paul McCartney for all the re-releases or anniversary issues. He's not forcing anyone to buy anything. I would only be interested in buying this re-issue if it was a new remix or something because I'm not all too impressed with the McCartney III album as it is (and I'm a huge Macca fan). But it's fun to watch videos like this and see details on new editions. Thank you for all your informative and entertaining videos!

The KZbin Channel SuperDeluxeEdition has just posted their unboxing of the three albums from Capital. He had the same issues with the ripped inner sleeves plus all the albums had damaged corners through the posting. He also showed a design inside the outer sleeve which is the same on all three sleeves.

The Tri-colour edition very similar to YES 90125 album from 4 years ago when the anniversary edition n plays really well. With no distortion or cracking.

Won’t be buying, but thanks for the unboxing. Your videos are always high quality. MPL should themselves to the same standard. The records look nice, but this was a release no one was asking for. There are plenty of great options they can choose for releases in the future!

It looks very nice, and the packaging has some love put into it, but the main question is why? On the McCartney 3 website, the 3x3 edition was placed alongside the original album and Imagined, and the cryptic marketing campaign just doesn’t hold up to the product they’re trying to sell. At the very least, they could have simply included all of the original bonus tracks as a bonus EP, since this is a vinyl release.

Love them! I actually watched a video from someone: I won’t say who; that was visibly angry about these lol. It was quite comical. As with anything if you don’t want them keep your money. Quite obvious he’s banking on likes and views with his ranting. Which I guess is working out for him since I watched it haha
