Ok now I need one 😂 already have the regular size one that I use for holding pieces while I sand but it's the mini trimming this small version can do that really gets my attention - I love throwing tiny mini pots but don't trim - this would make a huge difference.

It fits on the speedball wheel perfectly also! I love mine. Have them both. Mini does itty bitty pieces too.

I loved my original, but I love my mini even more. I use them both depending on the piece!

@@KaransPotsAndGlass wish I would have saved the box. The packaging is awesome! I’m always trying to keep my small studio clean so I sent it to recycle. Regret it 🫤

I love my giffen grip mini. I got one for christmas last year. My wheel is a leach-style wheel built by my dad in about 1963, that I modified with bat pins. But it can only fit a maximum of a 15" bat, and the regular giffen grip needs 16". But I didn't realize it sat above the wheel that much, maybe it will work. I'll have to go to the store and take some measurements. But if I do that I'll get trimmings all over my studio! I don't use it a lot, I mostly prefer to trim on a sticky bat, but I'd still not like to do without it. I particularly like it when I need to re-smooth the rim of a cup, I really can't do that easily any other way. I would like it if it had a greater variety of arms, or at least softer and/or swiveling pads. I usually put a piece of foam under the pads to keep from marking my pots. I also have a Plano fishing tackle box that is just the right size to organize the arms and other parts. Thanks for your great review!

Thanks for the great review. I love reviewers who get right to the point and show all the features of something. I'm definitely getting one for my studio. While I'm here, I noticed your Skutt wheel (the green one). Do you have the special drive for the foot pedal? Do you like it? I'm thinking of getting one, because my CXC isn't very responsive at slow speeds when I'm working on little details. I'm wondering how you like yours. Is it the 1 hp?

I have the Skutt Classic- which is 1/3 horsepower. I find it to be the perfect wheel for my needs! I can throw 20 lb pots with no lag and smooth operation! I do have the upgraded controller and love it- although I’ve never used the regular one for comparison!! It has beautiful sensitivity with the pedal- especially at those all important lower speeds. I absolutely love the integrated splashpan and removable wheel head- by far my favorite wheel I’ve ever used and cleaned!

Love the mini GG. I looks like it would fit my Vevor really well. I’ve been calling around to different companies making bats to find an 11” bat system with inserts but can’t find any company making them. Do you know of anyone? I drilled 10” bat pins and will try and make my own with 6” hexagonal inserts.

I don’t know if any- but- you may want to reach out to Outpost Pottery- they have a 3d printed frame they make to use with tile inserts- they may be able to help with just the right size!

What do use more mini or the regular Giffin Grip ?

It seems the GG will center the piece you insert. If I want to trim a very asymmetric piece, will it hold?
@KaransPotsAndGlass

for an assymetrical piece, I recommend the regular giffin grip with the flex sliders- that gives you the greatest versatility with assymetrical pieces! Here is a link to them! www.giffingrip.com/parts/flex-slider

When I trim an asymmetric piece I can usually center it with blocks of foam.

What is the largest diameter piece the mini can take?

It is 11" across, and from my estimation , it looks like the widest slider opening is 9.5" (the plate sliders)
