Great video as usual MArie. Very useful and made me realise Im best staying with just my giffin grip. I place plastic flexible chooping boards cut in half around my splash pan to stop the clay shaving going everywhere.

I have. Both griffin grips. Love the mini for smaller pieces and my shampoo portable wheel. Need the bigger one for large dinner plates and larger bowls. Great products. A+ on the new mini.

I made one and only glaze the outside including the bottom has been 3 days and is still there holding water but I don’t if is ok to do that ? Thank you ! Xx p s I am using earthware clay

Thank you, Adri. Good question. Earthenware is porous and will absorb the water but should not leak because you glazed the outside. The vases should be ok, but if you want the vases to last longer, you can glaze the inside also because the water will weaken the vases over time. 😊

Thanks for sharing , I decided to with the regular size Giffin Grip based on your review .. the grip fit’s snuggle on to the wheel head .. should I be worried if the grip scapes the side of the wheel head ?

Hi Shawn. That's great! Good question. The brackets are made of a hard plastic. I have used mine on 4 different wheels and haven't noticed any marks or harming my wheels in anyway. Enjoy your new Giffin Grip 😊

Hello! This is helpful to show between the two. What’s the smallest piece that can go on both of these? I tried the original today and some of my pieces (just mugs, nothing special) were too small to use the giffin

Joyce. That's good to hear. The original can trim about 3 inches across with the smallest extension rod. And the Mini can trim as small as a half inch across. I think even a little less.

I just bought one..I have not used it yet…seems to be a lot of work setting it up. Doesn’t seem to be that easy to do. Does it take longer than just centering a piece on the wheel head? This doesn’t seem like it is something to have if you only do a few pieces at a time by the time it takes. Would this only be best used for a whole lot of pieces to be trimmed?

Hi Sheri. That is a very good question. Once you get the brackets on the bottom, you are all set. Just place it on your wheel whenever you're ready to use it. You will never have to move the brackets unless you have several pottery wheels with different size wheel heads. I really like both Giffin Grips. I also like to trim a lot. 😊

Hi Marie, the holes on the bats I use on the wheel are deformed. When I am throwing the bats wiggle and interfere with how the pieces turn out.

Hi Brain That has happened to me also. Try this BatMate. I place it under all my bats. Works great for me, hope it will for you also. Here is the link for you. geni.us/QqLcNYI If you do get it the blue will fade of after a while. They have a 14 inch batmate also but I use the 12 all the time. I even cut my 14 inch one to 12 😊

Very good question. The mini does not. The pads are softer. My Giffin grip does but I have the older model. I heard they improved the pads on the sliders and they more like the mini sliders. 😊
