This release of Darth Vader is the PERFECT representation, even with the few flaws mentioned. When and if you do get around to opening him up, I'd recommend a drink, great lighting (if possible) and some good tunes in the background. It's a phenomenal experience to say the least. honestly, I really do care about the helmet design. It's not just "another" Vader helmet. This one looks SO accurate in terms of proportions, whereas the ESB one, whilst trying to look more like the ESB Screen used helmet anyway, was not as accurate to it. It had a super droopy sad look to the helmet that to me was not accurate. I love the head sculpt design, and it is gorgeous, but given that I can only fit one Vader in my collection, I actually got the Deluxe to show him in his clean look, and figure out a way to display the damaged helmet some other way. So for me, I do find it very interesting when people focus on the clean look, as it's actually almost an entirely new sculpt for the whole suit as well! Awesome awesome review as always, and now I cannot wait for mine even more!

To be fair, there are a lot of people who do see it as just another Vader, even if a lot of us catch the smaller details. I'm not mad at those folks, but I do appreciate attention to adjust parts of the costume the way they do. It's really cool! I also prefer this version over the ESB Vader, the optical lenses are far too wide. I currently have the clean look in my display as well! It's difficult to choose like this. Would've loved two bodies for both looks, but I get the expense might be crazy. The presence is incredible! If I can happen across an extra body, I'll gladly pose the battle damaged version. Even 9/10s are rare for this channel, I don't recall ever giving a figure a 10/10 to be fair. There are a few figures that I haven't reviewed on the channel that would get perfect scores though. Hot Toys needs to release a burnt up Anakin on the table while being built into the Vader we know from ROTS, and also a Bacta Tank version of Vader. Both of those would be amazing!

I can clear up the reason why the saber blade did so little damage. his cape was custom made to withstand intense heat and damage as he couldn't protect his backside as easily when he was anakin.

Thanks man! And no worries, any and all comments are welcome even if you drop another one later. 😄 I wouldn’t trust it for an extended period of time. Personally, I’d turn it on for a few hours a day for better LED longevity. Considering the possible expense to replace them later, I think it’s best for a few hours a day depending. The control box may or may not overheat, but I typically keep it on for photos/videos and turn them off. Hope this helps!

The belt can come undone on the front buckle. Although, you make have to glue it back together depending on how it’s pieced.

This is probably the best review of this figure. Really looking forward to the light-up functions on this one - those on my earlier version Vaders (ANH & ESB) aren't worth mentioning. It seems like the battle damaged helmet would not be so shiny, but nevertheless that is probably how I will display him. It seems the red plastic blade on the red lightsabers tends to dim the red light (regardless of whether its battery or LED); I'm guessing if they tried a clear light with a red blade or vice versa it would look more pink. 😣 Nice thing about the Imperial base is you can use it for other figures (I didn't see a name plate on it).

Thank you, Daniel! The light-up feature on this one is better by a long shot. I'll need to find a slimmer cord though if I plan to keep him plugged in the display. A bit difficult to navigate at the moment. Yeah, the battle damaged sections could've been cleaned up a bit better, but that portrait continues to draw my eye from which I can appreciate. I also agree with that notion. They would have to change the entire way they do the LED hilt. My best guess is making a bulb-like blade to plug into the LED hilt, but that would be a whole different expense in itself. I doubt they would go that far.

Been waiting for this one! Such an incredible looking figure, I often find myself just looking at it. Photographs beautifully too! The articulation is a bit tough due to the pleather, any tips there? Maybe I'm just worried about damaging the suit. Also, swapping the hands is a pain, but he's become my favorite of my small Hot Toys collection.

I have to agree! He's HUGE in the display as well. Almost wish I picked up 2, but I think I would've preferred a second body instead to display both options. The articulation is far better than previous versions in a few ways I find, but I get that it can be a bit rough. The legs are hindered a bit due to the cod piece I've noticed. If you're worried about damaging the suit, I'd suggest TriNova: a.co/d/duk0K0n . I don't need it in the climate that I'm in, but I have it just in case and used it a few times in the past. To be fair though, it's not on Hot Toys. In the show the lights didn't cycle, they just all stayed still, lit up. You can watch the scene where he stops the ship, and you can see that the light's don't cycle, like they do in the movies.
