It's cool that you took a look and was able to fix it yourself! Nice addition to your roster.

Great initiative on your part RJ, fixing your brand-new "SWeight" yourself! I wonder if it's a more authentic "GM" product than you imagined, that is, possibly built on a Friday? Well you KNOW what they used to say about GM! : ) And Ford too for that matter! And that thing smokes so well it makes me wonder if the prime mover needs servicing! A nice aquisition just the same, and a nice touch having Percy on the end of the passenger consist! Thanks for posting!

Great vid as always. FYI, I just received this exact same engine in the Strasburg road name. Fortunately mine ran perfectly right out of the box. I love it. It’s an awesome engine. Performs well and sounds great.

Good to know about the drive shaft.! I wish Lionel would make such a critical part out of metal. I have the NYC on order and it should ship next week? Excellent video.! Have a great Holiday and Thanks.! Mark

Thanks for the heads-up on this issue. I have a Conrail version on preorder. It must not have affected all of them because I ran the Strasburg one on The Train Shop Weekly Show and it was fine. So hopefully only a few of these have this issue

One other thing I would like to add is that the smoke unit is impressive as well

Awesome locomotive! Once, I was at the PRR museum in strasburg with my father, and 8618 came across the road honking its horn. I thought that was awesome!

Thanks for the video. Nice to know you could fix the engine problem yourself. I, likewise, hate to send stuff for dubious repair.

Another great video, RJ. It seems like a lot of O gauge fans have grabbed this one. A shame your model had an avoidable defect, but you got rid of the problem yourself, so good for you. I've seen others complain aspects of Lionel's dependability lately - things like repairs, sloppy repackaging on returns, stuff like that. I guess you have to be on the lookout all time these days. I'm glad it worked out for you! Thanks for sharing again!

I got mine yesterday - really impressed with it, it ran great on a brief test at the store but it really shone when it was run with Legacy at home. Glass smooth at an absolute crawl. Interesting set up with the horizontal motor and drive shafts to each truck. Cool stuff...seems the smoke unit gets extremely hot on mine too.

Beautiful engine and layout! Let me ask the problem you had with the driveshaft correct me if I'm wrong but Lionel is not testing any Legacy engines before they ship?

Lion is inconsistent with QA. Now they will not let repair stations make warranty repair. I have been withing five months for three marketers covers gor two camel backs and two o rings for hatch covers over funnel for my sharks. Also on my D a d H Alco the engineer is backwards. How long lionel will take fir repairs is a guess when they donig have the simplest part that should be stocked. Lionel QA is getting very bad

I just purchased the same locomotive but in the Coors brewing Company livery. However, after assigning the ID number to it I cannot get my legacy command station to switch to cab 2 and display all the features of the locomotive. Apparently this locomotive did not come with a programming module? Is there something I’m doing wrong?

R.J., maybe you need to go work at this company that made this item. I'm sure you could teach them a thing or two, l bet. Yeah, American workmanship stinks now-a-days, doesn't it? Sorry you had to fix THEIR problem, because of THEIR lack of professionalism. There's too much laziness in this world, l believe. That's why your locomotive was sub-par when you received it. And that's why l love the good old days!!! They cared about craftsmanship, their jobs, their products. Now, they only care about getting paid while doing slip-shot work. YOU need to teach these lazy workers how to do their jobs correctly, sir. Take care!!!! ( you got me started with this video....about my views on people being lazy........sorry. )
