Nice! We are nostalgics! I'd like to buy one audiocassette CD player now, in 2020, and i'm gonna do this soon.

Phillips also released a cassette player, just few months ago! Don't remember the model name.

I found one like this at the second hand store. It works and all. But sometimes it doesn't work on recorded CD's

Also - try it on headphones - much better than the speakers

Thanks for the video. I’ve been trying to find a cassette player that doesn’t cost a fortune.

Do you found it when it is playing cassette, only right side of the speaker is working, or is it just me ? Thanks
@strayferal3 жыл бұрын
Honestly on mine it seems to work fine. But i also rarely use the speakers, as these are no good. Most time i listen on headphones, as sound is significantly better. But i read comments on other videos and websites selling these. People complain of various problems. You can try fixing it or bring it to a repair place.

Hello, I have many old cassette tapes and my # 1 concern is my tapes getting eaten. Have you encountered that with this Sony boombox?
@strayferal3 жыл бұрын
No. So far i have no such problem. But also most of my cassettes are brand new, so the tape is in great condition anyway.

I thought cassettes were dead and gone. I bought one thinking my kids and I might have fun with a mic and recording ourselves. But, apparently one cannot record themself. Have you found a 'work around' for this BIG PROBLEM?! No external place to plug one in and no internal mic. Big disappointment. Thanks.
@strayferal4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dean and first - thanks for watching. So have you tried the "audio in" minijack input? It's on the left on the unit, next to the headphones output minijack. Some cheap old mics will have minijack to connect to. You can try. On the unit, there is a "audio in" button, so I guess you need to activate this in order to get signal from the audio in minijack. This should work. Alternatively, you can also try an old trick - connect headphones to the audio-in jack, activate the button and try to record. One word of advance - you need to yell a bit into the headphones in order for them to catch the signal and the quality won't be good, but it should work. But still - on ebay you should be able to find a mic with a minijack. That is, if you still want to try this unit or you want to record onto a cassette. BUT if you just want to have fun with your kids, you might be just faster and better with a dictophone or a field recorder. In BestBuy there is one $60 (Canadian) Sony dictophone model. Not sure "dictophone" is also in English, but in French and few other languages these are the small old devices, one would use to take audio notes and then play them back. Current models record onto microSD card. On ebay, you would be able to get some older models which work with the old small cassettes. Your kids will be impressed for sure. There are also the field recorders, like ZOOM H1, which record even better in a microSD card. And again - in places like ToysRUs you will be able to find toys which mimic the karaoke machines - won't record, but will produce funny effects. Hope this helps. I am also a parent. Write back if you have questions.

PS: And yes, cassettes maybe generally dead and gone, but there are actually bands which release music both digital and on cassettes and stores which actually sell these. If you live in Toronto, one such place is the Dupe Shop. No, I don't work there. But I go there time to time to buy new stuff. I support the local artists.

True - not your dad's Sony and true - it is cheap. However I never had any issues with my unit. I use it mainly as a cassette player and rarely for CD and radio.

STRAY F. is the cassette deck still working? and the cd one too. i heard the cd deck sucks
@strayferal4 жыл бұрын
@@cristiandrei8438 everything still works. I use this mostly to play cassettes. Rarely play CDs and even rarely play radio. But I am also careful. I have been given some old cassettes. Some are okay, but few already got tape defects, so I don't play these to keep the deck in better condition. I also don't play every day. Often listen to things from Google Play Music. And all my CDs are in good shape, so the CD player won't break soon I hope.

Why TF is this necessary? I am dumbfounded that not only did this guy felt he needed to make this video, there are people who've watched it... and rated It! Omg... and hey... there's half a dozen other videos just like it!!! Wtf!?! I found one still in box in my closet I had apparently been given as a gift and forgot about... so I googled to find its worth for the yard sale and stumbled upon this gem. DUMBFOUNDED

@@strayferal ok, not gonna read all that tbh, but I did read up until the "cassette tape era" or however you put it... my first music player was a record player and 8 track. I can assure you I'm very familiar with how cassettes work, not to mention how to open a box. It's nothing personal, this video just happened to be the one I came across, therefore the example I commented on... but know for sure that this and every other "how to" video (or however you want to classify ur) of this caliber dumbfounds me for its existence. If you're capable enough to Google and/ or KZbin a video... you're capable of opening a phukn box and operating a cassette player... IMO. That s all. No need for a reply. I wasn't intending to insult you, The fact that there's the need apparently is what floors me most. I did also read the last few lines and want to assure you... I know how You tube works and it's purpose... I only stated how initially I was wanting to check out it's going rate and one thing lead to another, down the rabbit hole which lead to you're video. Like... Idk... I guess I give people more credit and don't assume everyone a total moron... as you assume I went to KZbin to check prices

That's the thing Rachel - the Rabbit Hole! Alice went down and weird things followed, which Alice simply had to accept, as part of this new reality she found herself in. Trust me, there are certain KZbin videos I also don't get - weird of their own sort. But it is all just part of the Wonderland aka KZbin. It is okay. You can do this or I should do that - who cares. The content is there, somebody watches for some reason. For it is the True Rabbit Hole.
