Justin and Gerry are back in the studio to take a look at Stormfang for the Space Wolves faction of Warhammer 40K.
Someone at Games Workshop has had a fun time making this model as Gerry rightly points out that they have essentially made a flying dog head. What is seen cannot be unseen, the guys carry on with their worlds fundamentally changed forever. Gerry gives the quickest and most efficient advice on transfers and Justin comments on the cold war mentality at some gaming clubs.

I don't know about seeing a dog's head, but I think it looks exactly like what I'd thing a sci fi troop carrier would look like. I think it looks practical and they didn't push the sci fi weird details too much.

If you build it with the engines oriented horizontal, instead of standard vertical, the wolf brick starts to actually look like a flyer.

I would argue that the troop carrier variant is still a gunship. It just fires really angry power armour boys out the front at very close range.

Regarding transfers: leave it soaking in water while you have your dinner/tea/breakfast. Use 'decalfix' or one of its many substitutes on the area your applying the transfer to. Apply Transfer with a medium size brush wiping over the top of the surface gently until its flat and air is absent. Get on with your day for a few hours. Go over with decalfix again to make sure its as flat as its gonna get then matt coat. I used to just water slide em and after 10 years they look a mess. Tip of the day: You can practice on the bottom of a base the spot where all dirty secrets are never seen :P

The thing is you just know that they intended it to resemble a Wolf Hound's head but it turned out more Yorkshire Terrier.

Converted mine to Imperial Fists (replaced the molded in wolf maws with the IF Fist logos) for boarding actions. Added a huge melta above the assault ramp to burn a landing port in the enemy ship. Dorn's idea, I swear.

Gave up on 40K shortly after this kit came out. I still want to get this and the Ork flyers just for the build even if I don't play the game anymore.

I have 2 and they were great in 7th Now they don’t see much action since they seem over priced (Built as gun ships) Don’t forget, the top turret for the transport option can be thrown on a standard land raider in open play as a space wolf land raider variant

I've always wondered what the flying box would look like. I'm still waiting for one to be built like Snoopy on his Sopwith Camel. The colors wouldn't be very "wolfy" though. Maybe I should look one for an Ork Wazbom Blastajet or Chin-Ork WarKopta.

its just the wolves version of the cestus assault ram. i have 1 for my wolves. i built the storm wolf and tend to put bloodclaws into it let the dogs fly forward to annoy enemy back field. its just a fast flying landraider

Cannot unsee! I'm not a fan of this kit myself even though I love space wolves. I agree with Justin as well, I struggle with applying decals. Worst part is when you apply it and its a bit off so you try to adjust it and it just folds in on itself. Nightmare.

Seeing this reminded me of how I felt as a kid when I got a couple vehicles from the G.I. Joe animated series. Making all the sounds it would do and how it would the villains' butt. Ah, my memories from the 90s are the best.

It doesnt quite seem to fit the scale, but make it any larger and it won't fit the table. I suspect this is a running problem with 40k vehicles, especially flyers
