What a lovely machine. I buy and restore old sewing machines then find new homes form them. I only ever do a straight stitch but mostly I sew by hand. I do that to honor my grandmothers that never had a machine. I always send my to it’s new hope with a manual. Can’t wait to see what you do with yours. Thank you.

I rarely need to use a maching. I use it to sew binding strips together and to make the tiny houses for that quilt. It is good to just in case I need one.

Looks good! It's amazing the price of some of the fancier sewing machines. I still have my Sears Kenmore that I bought in 1972 for peanuts and it still works great. At the time, I thought it was very fancy because it had zig zag, a stretch stitch, and a buttonhole attachment. I really only use the straight stitch. Have fun with your new machine.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to post a comment. I am sure it will last me for years and as I only do limited basic sewing it should be more than adequate. I prefer hand sewing as using a machine is too quick.

I bought a Janome, which was rebranded for one of our UK department stores. It looks very similar to yours. I'm very pleased with it. It seems well built, but I do find that the light is not very good, so you do need good natural light or a spot light.
@juliethornton3 жыл бұрын
I agree that the light is useless. I also found out once I started using it that it won't do 1/4 inch seams....the needle is too far over and to get a 1/4 inch you have to have the fabric over only one side of the legs which is not good. It is fine for wider allowances.
@wildrose75463 жыл бұрын
I haven't made quarter inch seam allowances yet, but I was wondering about getting a zipper foot for it, so I could do some piping round cushion covers. More expense, I know, but that might do the trick with narrow seams.
@juliethornton3 жыл бұрын
Mine came with a zipper foot in the accessories but I doubt I will ever use it. If I were to end up doing a lot of machine sewing I would get a better machine but this one will work for the limited use I will need it for.

Do you think this machine will be able to do denim adjustments okay? The motor would be strong enough to handle tougher materials?
@juliethornton3 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know. You may have to get stronger needles for denim use. The machine should be able to cope with denim but I have never tried it.
@roll_land3 жыл бұрын
@@juliethornton Thanks for replying! Yeah I got one anyway and hoping it can do simple denim jobs like hemming jeans as thats all I need the machine to do for denim. But yes I'll get a stronger needle!

After 2 years how have you found it? Noticed the same ones back in my local aldi for $129 so im thinking of getting one to learn a bit of sewing. Thanks.
@juliethornton2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tamiya, To be honest I rarely use it but it has worked fine every time I have. It is a good beginner machine and the bobbin threading is a bit tricky but the instructions explain it very well.
@rhianna28892 жыл бұрын
I just bought it too from Aldi. No idea where to start lol
@juliethornton2 жыл бұрын
Just start with unboxing it and sorting out all the bits. Don't bother with the automatic threading instructions....just follow the instructions and thread it manually and then fill the bobbin as per instructions and then thread that and then sew practice strips. Good luck with it I am sure you will get the hang of it quickly.
@stevenjohn25412 жыл бұрын
i just bought it today (it was on clearance) and I've given up because the needle won't go in (like where the bobbin lives) so its stressed me out haha.
@juliethornton2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenjohn2541 Maybe take the bobbib out and go back through the instructions on how to load the bobbin and make sure the dial for the type of stitch is where the needle is in the middle of the oval....it is either A ort B on the dial.

Hi Julie can you please tell me how does the light work
@juliethornton3 жыл бұрын
Hi. The light should come on when you turn the machine on. There is no separate on/off switch for the light./ Yours may need a new bulb so check your owner's manual as to how to change it. I hope this has helped.. Thanks

@@juliethornton oh ok Julie thanks for your promote reply i. Have never used and electric sewing machine before so hopefully i get one with it without so much effort and I am still not able to put thread in needle so will try again today
@juliethornton3 жыл бұрын
@@TheUshah Good luck. Most new machines have automatic threaders to make threading the needle easier but I don't use the one on this machine. Thank you.
