Today I am unboxing some flowers I ordered in to make Thanksgiving bouquets for my local customers. They were ordered from Bill Doran. Also- as I was editing this I realized I misspoke and said Astrantia was grown from bulbs. I had ordered bare roots that were cancelled- not bulbs!

Love all the flowers! FYI for future rose ordering, leave the paper on the roses for a few hours while they hydrate! Sometimes the roses are really weak and this prevents breaking!

Everyone calls those Christmas Cactus, but actually, there are 3 species everyone grows. And depending on what one it is they might bloom closer to Thanksgiving or Easter. The one with pointed sides to the leaves is likely Schlumbergera truncata which blooms around Thanksgiving. S. bridgesii lacks the pokey bits on the leaves and is the true Christmas cactus. Hatiora gaertneri is the Easter one but that holiday jumps around a bit so they don't always flower on time with the holiday.

Beautiful bouquets!! I've worked in 2 florist shops and also freelanced weddings for 11 yrs. Brings back memories for me. But..I would rather grow my own now. You could have a cooler for the late season bouquets. The burlap/roping is a great touch!! I miss doing the flowers for weddings ...but not the drama!! Farmers market is my retirement job....but the work is alot harder! Great choices on those colors, too.

Alstromeria, Alstros, are a Lily. They come is a wide variety of colors. Roses have guard petals that need to come off. They can be left on for a more naturalistic, rustic look. Where you live finding evergreen is SO easy, when you need filler or texture interest, go cut some. A nice pine or fir adds so much to a bouquet in interest and in bulk (perceived value is higher) Ive been a florist for over 30 years. I see your true love of flowers and working with them. I give you 6 months and you will be installing coolers... A full service florist is in your future I do believe. GO with it!!! Flowers bring Joy to everyone!

Beautiful blooms Nicole ,, stunning colours at this time of year ,, I grow Alstromeria and they are really oriental looking and last ages in the vase, but are frost tender so have finished now here in the Uk ,, I’m still cutting chrysanthemums in my polytunnel ,, they also last ages in the vase so well worth growing ,, more rooted cuttings on order for next year 🌸🌼🌺

Absolutely love the colours of the bouquets and the idea to wrap with burlap! If you had issues with the tie slipping down the burlap you can get two incisions in the layers of burlap and weave the tie through to secure it next time!

Italian ruskis is definitely a pain. Super expensive here I live in California. Because it lasts so long. Hear we can you reuse it and reuse it reuse it. I just snip it but I always make in a vase or an container arrangement. I even learned how to make hand tied bouquets in a vase. Were you build a vase and then just pull it out and rubber band it. I enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
