Hi, lots of similar design but quite different under the hood and with the display. I'm yet to be hands on though. When is the new Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 (CP714-1H) coming to the UK?
@MergeDroid5 ай бұрын
Soon I hope. Very have a listing but shown as "out of stock" so can't be searched. Hopefully once stock is in it'll go live there and at other places. You can view it going direct to this page: www.very.co.uk/acer-cp714-1hn-14in-2383-intel-core-ultra-5-processor-115u-8gb-ram-512gb-ssd-iron/1601057294.prd

Hi, could anyone explain to me what the codes actually mean? e. g. what does the H in CP714-1H mean? I bought my first chromebook 10 years ago and have been using chromebooks since then. The reason for me to buy was they were all fanless and had an SSD. I haven’t been into chromebooks the last 2 or 3 years and now decided to search for a high-end device without a fan. All across the net, whether specific devices are fanless or not isn’t even mentioned, which in my experience is something new. Even the manufacturers themselves are including every single screw in their specs list, but passive cooling or not is treated as not relevant, which is really bothering me. I'm searching for a high end chromebook without a fan and there seem to be fanless models even in the Spin 714 line of the newest generation. Could anyone help?
@MergeDroid2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for checking this video and the channel out. For Acer Chromebooks my understanding if they end in "H" it'll be a non-touch screen option and if they end in "HT" it'll be a touch screen option. I'm similar to you, started out with fanless Chromebooks, never wanted the heat and noise of a fan. I would say times have changed though, processors like the Intel Core i3-N305 inside this Acer Chromebook Plus 514 and a few other Chromebook Plus models requires very little cooling and the fans generally don't run often and when they do (when you're pushing things a little more) are not too loud at all and the heat again in this case is pretty minimal. If you can, try and see one instore somewhere and if it's possible for a demo get an Android game running to get the fans to kick in and see. On the flip slide see with 'normal use' the fan won't even be active. BTW if you do like this Acer I've published my review now: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppvHeIljfbeIeaM I hope some more of my reviews and unboxings will help you, as I always cover if there's ventilation and/or a fan on the Chromebook. The Intel N200 processor is also pretty capable (you can compare it to this Core i3-N305 and see benchmark scores). More mid-range, but I recently unboxed this Chromebook with it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqiroJRsorFgnq8 Whilst you'll see there's a grill for ventilation, there's no fan as it's not needed on the N200. You could also look at MediaTek based Chromebooks, maybe a wildcard but did you see my video on the new Chromebook Duet 11" ? It's here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6XSgqOgmKuMd8k As for high end and no fan, it's difficult as high dictates powers and power generally still needs a fan. However, some of the latest models with processors like the Intel Core 5 processor 120U or Intel Core 3 processor 100U can be fanless with passive cooling. The new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus 15.6 inch Chromebook is, I haven't been hands on yet, but you can see me cover in in my recent video from the recent Chromebook Showcase event: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpS2m6yeobxrsJo It has a grill on the bottom for cooling but no fan. You can check Amazon in your region to see if they stock it - amzn.to/3AjajKY (my affiliate link). In the UK we have both a Intel Core 5 and Intel Core 3 version, whereas elsewhere like the US there looks just to be a Intel Core 3 version currently. Also I'd watch and see what happens with SnapDragon next and Chromebooks.

@@_ruggi_ I'm liking it so far, a lot of similarities to the Acer Chromebook Plus 515, keyboard and trackpad feel very similar - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKaslZqffc5pY9k Also the similarities I mention compared to the current Gen 'regular' Acer Chromebook 314 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3mpoKGid8-Gd9k If you're keen on this model's setup you'll really want to at least compare it to the other 14 inch Chromebook Plus models with the Intel Core i3-N305 processors, e.g. Lenvo Slim 3i Chromebook Plus - kzbin.info/www/bejne/en-benqJoM2AjJY and the new HP Chromebook Plus 14. A lot may come down to the spec options on the exact models you're looking at, such as the optional back lit keyboards and touch displays....and of course the price.
