Unboxing the Baofeng UV-17R and Quansheng UV-K5(8)

This is crazy 😂 I'm sitting here watching the video thinking to myself this guy may be my deciding factor for a radio. Glanced at the channel name, got the nickname Alley Cat as a teenager, 51 now. Really like the listening capabilities of the quansheng but baofeng has built it's place firmly in the industry. Looking forward to the updates, thanks a mint 🤞

Got any tips for the 17? I was hoping to get a programming cable this weekend but it got delayed. With the Quansheng you can get a spectrum analyzer with the modded firmware. I haven’t had a chance to look at much for the Baofeng though. Any good modded firmware out there?

I still haven’t decided which one I prefer. I like the quality of the Baofeng, but the Quansheng has more bands, and I’m going to install modded firmware this weekend and see how that changes things. Of course the old 9R Plus claims to be 15w, while these are just 5w.

I kinda prefer the Baofeng, it feels like it’s better quality. I’m going to try some modded firmware tomorrow and see which one is more versatile.
