Unboxing the Benelli 828U 20 Gauge - Ultimate Upland

Shotgun Summer!!! Always fun to get hands on a crisp, new shooting stick. This off-season we'll be putting a number of shotguns through the paces. Benelli launched the 828U in 12 gauge a number of years ago, it was their first entry into the O/U space. Now, we've got our mitts on the 20 gauge which was announced last year and is currently hitting shelves at your local shops.
Stay tuned, we'll be pushing a bunch of shells through this gun in the coming weeks. But here's a quick look at our first opportunity to snap it together.

Just got a Benelli 828U Silver 30 inch . The versatile adjustment of a semi auto with the accepted clay range decorum of a under / over shotgun . This shotgun is light , once adjusted fits like a glove , looks stunning and I ran 24g 7 1/2 club cartridges through it with good results once my eye was in . There is a price to pay though . To deep clean this gun you have to remove ejector systems , trigger groups etc that are complex and different to any other gun . Once you have done it a few times it becomes easier but it’s not a standard layout . It’s sort of like a light , streamlined Italian high end sports car , to keep it functioning correctly regular maintenance is key . Don’t expect to shoot this gun , pull a snake bore cleaner through it and put it back into the cabinet . It will have problems if you do this . It must be deep cleaned every 1000 rounds or so . Would I replace this shotgun with something else , definitely not . It works for me and the recoil with 24g 7 1/2 shot is light . 9 1/2 out of 10 for me . Thanks for your download 🙏

Thanks for the feedback. Cleaning is certainly one of our longer term concerns, especially since we'll be using this primarily afield, not at the range. We plan to dig deeper into the adjustments and disassembly in the coming months - need to add spacers in order to increase the drop at the comb to fit us better - BUT we're excited to try that out because this kind of adjustability isn't built into many other field grade doubles. Will keep you posted.

@@UltimateUpland I envy your lifestyle friend . Attitudes to hunting both from the public and police are very negative here in the UK . It seems it’s ok to consume meat or poultry from raised , slaughtered livestock , but not from wild , clean killed game . Even with hunting rights or on your own land if a member of the public contacts the police all hell rains down on you . You figure . Enjoy your hunting and long may you be able to . We have to make do with simulated game days or pay thousands for beaten game days . The freedom of walked up game has all but disappeared here . Enjoy your Benelli 828U , I believe they have ceased production now . Good hunting 🤞👍

You’re likely not gonna find it, especially the 20, on sale. Best I’ve seen is a couple hundred dollars below manufacturer list.

Great Guns but they’re Pricey. Being a Blue Collar Hunter, This is just my opinion. They’re to expensive to take into woods and beat up on.

We call them "character marks" not beat up -- BUT I look at pricey guns as a one-time expense then divide it over the number of years I end up using that shotgun, makes it easier to justify.

@@UltimateUpland, I have an American Arms O/U I’ve bird hunted with it for 30 years. Love this Gun. I can’t bring my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon into woods. It’s strictly for Sporting games. Light gun, so it's there but not really noticeable with Benelli's built in recoil reduction system, think they call it Progressive Comfort.
