Just bought the Fender Mustang Micro Amp (comes with 12 classic amp settings and 13 effects pedals built in) which is about 6 x 2,5 inches and weighs about 4 ounces and plugs staraight into the guitar with a headphone out socket and bluetooth. Not possible to switch effects pedals as quick as a foot pedal but excellent for practice (and the neighbours don't complain!

The model you link to is a different one than you have in the video. The link goes to IBZ10B, but that one has no gain control. It does, however, add a mid eq control. For cleans it may be a little better than the one you have, which looks like it says IBZ10G on it. I can’t fid that model on the Ibanez site, so maybe it is forthcoming. Thank you for the great work and inspiration, Tomo.

This dialing-in/experimentation process is extremely informative. You could do this again with a different amp and I will watch the entire thing. I play classical guitar and have been thinking about buying an electric. One of the largest barriers is the large range of gear that is available. Even if I had unlimited money to spend, I could not be assured I would buy the right gear for me. Great video!

Great content, as always. I am looking at modeling amps that have either 8” or 12” speakers. I play soft fingerstyle blues and some nice, mostly clean chord progressions. I play exclusively to low, bedroom-level decibels. I know that when you crank amps up, even a little, the larger speaker has a fuller, richer tone. But at the levels I play, just around speaking level or slightly higher, will I get a fuller tone from the 12” speaker or will playing at such low volumes negate any of the benefits of the larger speaker?
@TomoFujitaMusic
@TomoFujitaMusic Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Doesn't matter about volume. Just different nuance & tone. I love vintage Fender Champ tone as well as Princeton or Deluxe. No negative or positive parts on larger speaker. It's full range and good!

Little practice amps I'm still a huge fan of the Roland micro cube. I think the reason I like rolland so much is because they own boss so those boss pedal qualities are incorporated into the built-in effects of the cube and micro cubes and you're actually getting the same people that build boss Roland.

I have the Fender LT25 Modeling amp. It's not as portable and I'm probably not the best judge but, it's got 30 preset effects all adjustable gain, chorus, reverb, and delay. It's got the ability to download more effects through a USB port if there's an upgrade and you can save settings once you adjust it to the preferred AMO of delay or gain chorus or reverb. Tone knobs and a gain dial , even a tuner built in. But! You can't combine the presets like "Simulated Acoustic" with "Touch Wah" or "Thrash" . Touch Wah is a simulated wah effect but, I'ts dialed to one preset at a time (unlike peddles) so I'd prefer different buttons to a single dial that takes you from one effect to another. It was recommended as a practice amp and it was $125.00 when I needed something affordable (and for me, that was half the price of my guitar! A Squier Affinity SSS. Since that purchase in 2020 I'd have gotten an Ibanez AZ 30 (or today the AZ 40) but, okay I'm stuck with an Affinity which is a decent instrument (unlike the Squier Bullet which is a cheaper guitar in both definitions of the word 😂) so it'll have to do. I like this Ibanez amp though. I think Tomo can get almost any amp to sound good but, even in my hands I think it might be a good little amp if I had it to do over again. 😂 Thanks Tomo, I don't think I've ever heard you use distortion so that was fun , Black Sabbath came out as soon as you turned on the distortion. I used to have a "Park by Marshall" that was a simulated tube amp. I loved the tone but I've gotten used to tweaking and adjusting my LT25 Modeling amp so I have a guitar and an amp and I'm doing better than some people . Overall a good little kit but, my guitar needs a proper setup. I unboxed it and the intonation was off. Now I intonated it myself but without Allen wrenches I now have a well intonated guitar but the string tensions are all over the place. The 2nd string is more difficult to bend than the 1st etc . No continuity of string across the 6 . Thanks for the demo Tomo. Always a pleasure watching you unboxing. I hope Max didn't get covered by the box! 😂 🐈 ✌️♥️🎸🎶🙏

Hello Tomo Sensei. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and I appreciate your philosophy of Deliberate Practice. I would like to ask what is your opinion on using high quality headphones instead of speaker output? I often play in evenings and would like to respect the people around me. Is there any disadvantages of using high quality headphones as it seems I can still hear the details very well? Thank you
@TomoFujitaMusic
@TomoFujitaMusic Жыл бұрын
You're very welcome! Great question! It won't work well for practice. You cannot hear fingers & strings noises! You need to hear from the amp & from your guitar. Unless you can mic your amp & your room sound as you hearing ... then it can be good (?) So if you can whisper in your room, then you can play with your amp! Set a little low from your amp... low volume from your guitar, and your picking softer side. Thank you!

@@TomoFujitaMusic I carefully watched some of your Triad videos and am digesting this now. I am now looking at daily practice routines appropriate for new guitarist (6 months) like myself, but I think no noise is important, only the intended music, so I now practice these Triads trying for no noise. Thank you. In my opinion Internet and technology is now amazing. But it is like a fire hose. So many very VERY good teachers with good information and courses. But we cannot drink from a fire hose, it's too much at once. I believe we must let the water fall to the ground and form a pool, let the mud settle until the water is clear and then we can drink water from the pool as much as we wish. But we must remember to stop to drink and not just look for more pools. Thank you.

I ordered the Katana and after a few minutes of playing returned it to Amazon.

Different class amp. $270 vs $80. The Katana has mixed reviews. Most love it but many hate it's tone. I'm looking forward to finding out for myself, but I'm told as a Vox chime die hard I'd probably favor the Vox VX50 which is in the same price range
