I have a Duo in my collection. I bought it as a goof thinking it was more of a Fender toy. But when I plugged it in I heard some of the best tones ever. Since buying it I also came across a Fender Marauder that I picked up immediately because I heard they were rare. It was hardtailed because the trem was blocked, but the Marauder is also killer in sound . Both are now permanent members of my collection.

Practicing different keys and emphasis on playing the triads first to hear harmony and slowly adding in phrasing is a helpful approach. Also find when you demonstrate fully to be helpful.

I've been trying to figure out how to link triads with chord progressions like this. Perfect lesson. Nice plug for Homeskoolin' with Tom, too. You guys have a similar style. The conversational approach feels personal, like a window into a trained guitarist's mind. Invaluable. I only let a few youtube teachers in my head, but you guys are welcome anytime. Bring beer.

Tomo ciao. You are a great teacher. Thanks so much for sharing the knowledge. The little " bass cromatic trick" you are using on the VI string while moving from G7 -> Cm7 is eye opening ;-). And moreover explains why you have choosen that voicing of Cm7. There is always something I can learn from your passion. GRAZIE MILLE !

I have a question Mr. Fujita, I noticed that you always talk about one-note-per-string triads. But you never speak about two-note-per-string arpeggios? Why? Do you ever practice arpeggios apart from triads?

I think what you are trying to convey is to move from noodling over a scale mapping of the fretboard and play the chord changes using the triads to map the fretboard. The added benefit of not sounding like you are playing a scale.

Thank you Tomo. I appreciate these lessons so much. Kurt here in Seattle. I've got the blues. I had to put my kitty, my best little buddy, Corkscrew (Corker), to sleep last week. I didn't even know he was sick at Christmas. I've been in a blue haze, but I'm starting to feel like practicing again after watching this video. Please give big hugs and treats and love to Max and Dexter. We are so lucky to have our little friends and our family. I'm so happy to have been a Guitar Wisdom subscriber for the past 3 years. You and George and Sammi just keep improving the Guitar Wisdom platform. Thanks again for all you do to help us be better musicians and people. I appreciate having you for a teacher and friend.

Triads are king. They deepen your knowledge of the guitar, show you how to build chords and where they are located across the neck and will have a surprising effect on your playing and understanding, even though you cant visualise it at the time while you practice them. great video tommo, do you think you could do a video on different inversions and substitutions used to vamp over blues i think it would be helpful for a solo player improvising without a backing track
@pat7255Күн бұрын
perhaps also doing a mini series on the variety of prevalent inversions and substitutions used for different genres like soul, funk, gospel, bossa nova etc. i think this would be very useful for intermediate players wanting to expand from major minor triads and inversions
