I bought my first PSP on the date of release in December of 2004, waiting for the store to open to pick up my preorder. It would turn out to be a fun way to spend my first new year time off work after moving to Japan. I remember the serial number in the system info as something like 10000202... Maybe I bought the 202nd one? Great games and memories... Using it as a portable media player with files from the computer, amused by the UMD adult movies being sold super cheaply in bookstores, and pleased by the lack of localization so I could play US games when making the occasional trips to the US and picking up games not available here. I used it for years until picking up a blue 3000 model a few years ago and was struck by the light and thin feel, and also the fear of breaking the tray when opening it by hand instead of a mechanical switch... Later to complete the collection I'd get a 2000 model also and I think I have 5 systems now including a US model for the US UMD movies. It's how I first watched the British version of The Office. Suddenly feeling a bit nostalgic for it so I'll play one after work tonight.😊

The movies don't work because they are "region locked", they are US versions and won't run on a Japanese system unless you region unlock it which isn't that hard if you don't mind jailbreaking your psp. Psp games are not region locked for some reason but movies are, you don't need to buy another psp for them to work. Cool psp tho
