Unboxing the TWSBI Eco Bronze 🧡

TWSBI just released a new Eco Bronze. I am all over the neutral coloured pens. I do not regret this one. Here are all my other Eco pens. I hope I do “need” to buy another Eco. This one though is worth it if you do not have any similar pens.

Thank you for sharing! I know a lot of people really love Lennon Tool Bar’s Sesame Oil as a creamy brown ink...however I think it’s very popular and sells out quickly. Hope you find the perfect ink for your new pen!

Yes, you are right in that Sesame Oil sells out quickly - just like the Robert Oster Caffe Crema. I am going to be on the hunt for awhile! :)

@@toxmot I did not get the TWSBI eco bronze. I got a Platinum 3776 in the color lilac with a 14k gold Nib. It was a birthday present from my husband. My first gold nib pen so pretty exciting!

Have you considered italic nibs? I strongly recommend getting one pen with that type of nib. Even if you have bad penmanship, it gives your linework/writing character (automatically). Plus, I think Italic nibs look pretty.

I’ve been curious about italic nibs! I ventured into stub but that’s all. Can you recommend any italic nibs? I have the impression that to get italic nibs, it would need to be custom ground by a nibmeister. Am I wrong?

@@toxmot italics are readily available. Not as much as standard fine, broads and such, but almost as much. One thing to consider is how wide of a line you want. Often, the bigger your writing (the taller the letters), the wider the nib, but not strictly necessary (it’s a preference thing, although aesthetically, there is typically a proportion of width relative to height). I’ll follow up with some recommendations, but for now, if there are any pens you like, check if they offer an italic option. You might be surprised to find it is an option. You can also get a Pilot Metropolitan in an italic since it won’t be expensive, and yet it will be a quality pen.

Eeek mine will be here Saturday, so excited! Probably going to ink it up with Lennon Toolbar's Cat General - might be a tad too warm for a match but it's one of my faves. I also have Sesame Oil but that's probably a tad off too.

Those two inks you mention sound pretty good! I love the sesame oil one. I really want to try Robert Oster Caffe in it too, such a popular combo that one. Enjoy your new TWSBI!

Based on my personal experience, I don't see too much of a difference between how a Twsbi EF writes and how a Twsbi F writes. Maybe the ink I use in the EF is more wet, but I was very surprised to see how similar the stroke width was for the two nibs side by side. I'd be curious to know if you see a big difference for your pens.

I don’t know if it’s the ink I’m currently using in the TWSBI F, but I much prefer the EF nib. It seems to be smoother. I have to experiment more because the F is writing pretty dry and I have FWP Workshop Wishes - it might be the shimmer making it feel rough. In terms of width, not much difference..very subtle.
