There are many evolutions in a lifetime of quality listening; we want to be there for all of yours. Borrowing from the very best of our flagship model Elysian, we built for you a premium step-up series packing more technology and more performance per square inch than any other speaker in its category. We were there for your first high-fidelity experience with models like Diamond & D300. Now we’re here for the next evolution in your music journey thanks to EVO4.4.
Upgrading On Your Terms
Our AMT (Air Motion Transformer) technology is a radical direction in high-frequency reproduction. Not only musical with naturally low distortion, but it’s also an efficient way of moving air. So no need to upgrade that amp.
Looking Good, Sounds Great
Our radiused edges, unique chamber design, and multi-layer sandwich construction absorbs energy, inhibits leakage, and perfectly integrates with your room’s acoustics. Because both a speaker’s look and its sound should take your breath away.
Bigger Sweet Spot. Sweet!
AMT technology combines with a specially damped and vented soft-fabric midrange dome to create wide dispersion with a linear response from 800Hz to 5kHz, so you get great detail anywhere in the room.
Sit Them Anywhere
Our most advanced slot-loading technology ever (PLSP) equalises high internal cabinet pressure to low room pressure when venting bass energy. Because you want beautiful music no matter where you sit your speakers.
Award Winning Quality
EVO4.4 received 2019’s best floorstanding loudspeaker between £1000-£1500 in What Hi*Fi?s highly coveted Best Buy Awards, ‘Wharfedale shows it can mix with the best premium speakers.’
EVO4.4
Available in Black, White and Walnut finishes, EVO4.4 is a 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker featuring a 30*60mm AMT treble driver, 50mm soft fabric dome midrange driver and 2 x 165mm black woven Kevlar cone bass drivers. The introduction of a second bass driver combined with a larger chassis of 1060 x 250 x 340+10mm offers much wider dynamic range and deeper bass response. EVO4.4 is perfect for medium to large sized listening spaces. Make your next evolution in listening our premium EVO4.4 floorstanding loudspeakers today. We can’t wait to show you what music can do.
The Dawn of a New Standard
Wharfedale’s new EVO4 has grown out of the extensive research and development that produced the ELYSIAN flagship loudspeakers and borrows much of the technology involved in ELYSIAN. Primary focus is on the AMT development resulting in a radically different way of reproducing high frequency detail efficiently and accurately. Similar cabinet technology to ELYSIAN provides a stable and solid foundation for the drive units with radiused edges to help integrate the driver output with the room acoustics. In addition the unique SLPP bass reflex system, as developed for ELYSIAN, is now incorporated in EVO4.
EVO4 AMT
Developed from the advanced AMT in ELYSIAN, EVO4’s Air Motion Transformer treble unit utilizes a radically different way of moving air compared to the conventional dome tweeter. A large, pleated lightweight diaphragm is driven across its surface by rows of strategically placed magnets. Not only is this an efficient way of moving air but it is also very accurate as the diaphragm is under close control of the motor system at all times. The result is a wide bandwidth transducer that achieves low distortion naturally and delivers wonderful musical detail.
EVO4 Dome Midrange
To match to the EVO4 AMT, Wharfedale has developed a fast and responsive dome midrange with wide bandwidth thanks to the incorporation of a damped rear chamber. This soft fabric dome, damped with a plasticizer coating, is vented aperiodically into a specially shaped rear chamber that is profiled to scatter and absorb rear energy from the dome. As a result this dome midrange features a linear response from 800Hz to 5kHz, an astonishing bandwidth from such a unit. Thanks to its high flux magnet, the EVO4 midrange dome also has a high efficiency, ideally matched to that of the AMT, enabling it to respond easily and quickly to the dynamics of the music fed to it. The wide dispersion of this dome and AMT combination ensures that you’ll hear all the musical detail no matter where you sit.

I have a pair of 4.4s; and you missed a detail; mine came with a pair of white cotton curators gloves. In case you're curious, I'm driving them with Cyrus Mono-X monoblocks. Its like having a new record collection.

Hi Daniel. I am new to your channel. I keep watching various videos and reading reviews on the Wharfedale EVO 4.4 because I am stuck as to what to get in the low to mid 2K range in floor speakers: So far it is between the 4.4s, the Focal Chora 826, the Elac Carnia 247.4 and the Triangle Gaia. I only heard the the Focal's so far, and they seem nice, but are missing something, I am not sure if it is enough bass, or the mids seem a bit dull. I am scheduled to hear the Triangles later this week, and I really don't have a dealer nearby that carries the Elac's but I heard great things about them. I have one dealer that carries the EVO but only the next model below the 4.4. Right now, if I can get a great "audiophile" speaker with a wonderful sense of depth that would be grand. My long term goal is to get the Klipsch Forte IV because I simply love horns, and high sensitivity speakers. I know they are probably not the best out there, but regardless I love them, I just can't afford it yet. So I am considering the aforementioned brands. I can't afford the Prima Luna 400 to pair with the 4.4s, have you tried any Yamaha AS amps? Or the new Cambridge EVO 150? Would you recommend a class A, AB, is better for theses speakers or a class D? I heard one class D amp, the NAD M10, and it was Eh. Thanks

Thanks for the in depth question Mark. This is a really hard question to answer because there are so many factors. To date we have only tried the Evo 4.4 with Marantz, Audiolab, Roksan and PrimaLuna as these are the brands in the same price range that we carry. In terms of other speakers at a similar price point that are also worth checking out I can heartily recommend the Monitor Audio Silver range and the Bowers & Wilkins 600 series.

Hello I am a retired sound recordings archivist (35 yrs.) Library of Congress and a 63-yr. collector of cylinders to audiophile LPs (90% classical/orchestral/instrumental/operatic - Living Stereo/Mercury Living Presence 1960s type of musical fare - Vinyl, definitely). I have - as of yet - not been able to hear any online demonstrations of classical music - such as Chicago Symphony with Reiner/Solti, etc. with the EVO 4.4. Any chance of hearing a bit of this vinyl music with the EVO 4.4 which seems like a great possibility [My 1974 large Advents finally have shown their age - needing to be "re-foamed - so maybe it's time to move on). Would be deeply appreciative of EVO 4.4 with larger orchestral or cathedral pipe organ vinyl LPs from the golden age of stereo - 1958-1968.

Unfortunately your best option to experience this is to find a local dealer that carries these particular speakers for demonstration and to take in your own selection of records. While we would love to give you a demonstration in person (we are based in Australia) we realise this is not always an option for most people, but unfortunately due to reasons ranging from copyright to a disbelief in the ability to accurately capture or reproduce the audio, we do not do audio demos for youtube. It will also depend on the sort of amplifier you plan to pair these speakers with as their sound tends to change greatly depending on the amp.

Hello! Tell me please. I want to buy Wharfedale Evo 4.4 acoustics, but unfortunately in the place where I live there is no way to listen to them. I will connect them to the Yamaha a-s 1200 amplifier and a Marantz na6006 network player. I will listen to different music from classic to hard rock. Do you think this speaker will sound good with my tract? Your opinion is very important to me! Thanks!

We are not a Yamaha dealer so unfortunately, we don't have any idea how the Evo range sounds when paired with Yamaha amplifiers. They can be picky, your best bet would be to call and talk to a retailer that carries both ranges. Wish we could be of more help.

@@living_entertainment would you say the same thing for electronic music as well?
@living_entertainment
@living_entertainment 3 жыл бұрын
@@Dpro78 Thats a very good question actually. For dance the Lintons would be my first choice as they are quite bassy (with the right amp) and fun, but due to how well articulated the Evo's can be if your talking more along the lines of Infected Mushroom, Iglooghost, Squarepusher or Aphex Twin I think they are a better pairing.

We paired the Wharfedale EVO 4.4 with the Model 30 in our most recent video. We didn't enjoy the combination. We have not paired them with the Rotel RA-1592 but we have paired them with the Rotel Ra-1572 MKII for another video and found that they sound okay together, even if they aren't our favorite pairing. Hope this helps. :)
