Put some Rose Anvil Kilties in those boots to help your skinny ankles - bit.ly/3lJ0oXd No Show Kilties - bit.ly/3YFtYLX

@RoseAnvil2 How about cutting some truemans in half. Oh that's right you won't do it because they won't sponsor (pay for) it. Rubbish you've cut apart many high end boots without sponsorship and we both know ad revenue would far exceed any costs involved. It would be one of your most viewed videos. Many are doubtful of their build quality so why not do it. Who are you protecting? Trueman themselves? An employee whose a family member??? It's pretty obvious there's a conflict of interest here hence your excuses not to do it.

I wore Russell Boots off and on for 40 years. Mostly the high country hunter. The first four or five pairs in the first 30 years were incredible. Built to my foot mold, extremely comfortable. High quality materials, and workmanship. Use nothing but Russell recommended cleaning and waterproofing products. Unfortunately, over the last 10 years, I would say that workmanship was top-notch, but the quality of the material went downhill rapidly. Stitching wore out rapidly, and the glue gave out within the first year. Customer service and repairs were less than stellar so I have switched back to Irish setter. Any comments from somebody associated with Russell would be appreciated.

For 10-12 years I have owned a custom pair of South 40 Birdshooter boots. These were measured and made to specifically fit me by Joe Gonyo. These are the most comfortable well made footwear I have ever owned right out of the box. Mine were built on the Munson last with an outsole that resembles what we now refer to as barefoot boots and have a lining that provides excellent support and snake bite resistance. Unfortunately many features no longer offered. I am not a big fan of unboxing videos, but do appreciate the positive press your video gives this excellent company. When will we see you get into the meat & potatoes of the construction of these boots?

I have a pair of Mountain PH boots, with the same type of fabric panels on the sides. I popped some of the stitching between the eyelet leather and the fabric around the ankle, and took advantage of needing to re-sew them anyway, by making them more snug. It went great, a LOT of hand sewing, but they fit me much better.

I have been waiting for this. They do have a version of the safari that has replaced the top three eyelets with speed hooks. But it comes with a Vibram 360 sole instead of the Lactae sole. All that aside I was thinking about getting the Backcountry which is a modern take on the hiker that Earl Shaffer wore on his hike of the application trail. But I desperately need a recovery boot. So the safari it is and maybe a pair of moccasins for around the house. Can't wait to see a full review on these.

I've got two pairs. Both made 10 years ago. I drove up to Berlin, WI from Chicago and had my foot measured for a custom last by the owner at the time, Ralph Fabricius. I ordered a 7" double vamp with molded outsole all leather Thula Thula (similar to the current PH, but with a zero drop Vibram Newporter sole), all eyelets and no insulation. What I eventually got had speed hooks and insulation. When I contacted them to fix it, they suggested I could use it for a winter boot and offered to make me a pair for warmer weather for half price instead. So I ordered a 4" all leather Thula Thula single vamp with molded outsole. For $200! I almost never wear the original pair because they are too warm unless I'm spending hours outside in sub-freezing temps, but I wear the 4" whenever it's wet or cold. They are waterproof, comfortable, and tough. I love these boots.

I have a pair of Russel's and they're the highest quality boots I've ever own. The only problem is they don't fit despite having been the custom ordered set. Attempted to have them stretched out several times and their answer just ended up being "It was made to your measurements so there's nothing we can do." The coolest part was that I found a pair of non-custom made Russels at the local boot store that were identically sized to the pair I had at a 9.5. This is interesting because I normally wear a 11.5-12. I have no idea how they got the sizing on my boots so far off.

I've really wanted a pair of these for a while, just hard for me to pull the trigger on $500+ boots when they may or may not fit. I just returned two pairs of Thursdays (my first pair was Wingtip, they fit perfect 1/2 size down, but I have E on Brannock and a high instep so the 1/2 size down Diplomat and Chukka just didn't fit instep or width). But, it allowed me to go to the Red Wing store and get a pair of 1907's instead at almost the same price but definitely much thicker leather and probably a lot more durability. (To be fair to Thursday, the regular 1/2 size down 877 and 875 do not fit instep or width at all. The 1907 without the insoles is pretty good and once I had the cork shaped, now it's a firm handshake with the insoles in.)
