I’m replacing a 25 year old pair of Danner Light boots. Not the II, just Danner Light. And other than the orthotics, no insoles were ever included, and never needed. I resoled them 8 times during their life and can say I have never appreciated another pair of boots. I wore these continually in all of Arizona’s climes and then Colorado. All four seasons, everything from an everyday boot to desert to mountain trails. No other boot or brand has ever stood up to this pair. My only hesitation in replacing them has been the sueded leather that Danner turned to with the Light II. I have to report that the biggest advantage of the original was absolutely the smooth leather. I’ve never understood their moving to nubuck when it’s so much simpler taking care of crafted/tanned skins. Your videos are amazing and appreciated. Wish me luck with the Light II.

in other words, foam is more comfortable and less expensive, and this is why shoes technology is progressing with foam in the most meaningful fields, like the military.

Looking for a recommendation for really good waterproof comfortable shoe or boot that can handle being in the dirt all day and still stay together.

I had to put kilties in my Russell Backcountry. I have thick calves and lower legs, and a high instep, but the eyestays still almost touch over the instep. Up high they are fine, but down low they almost touch. I sent photos to Russell and asked about this. It doesn't look right from above. They said it was "normal". Not so sure it's normal. So beware if you have dainty legs. I also could not "downsize" my Russells. 8.5D on Brannock. 8.5D in Russells. 8.5D in Nick's. 7.5EEE in JKs. I tried a 7.5D as Russell suggested and I couldn't get them on my feet. I did use your Bloodcore kilties. So there's that.

Dude! The Germans eyes are twitching hearing you try and pronounce Solingen. Solingen, Germany is famous for steel. They made swords and knives there for centuries. Boker is far from a small company.

Beautiful boots! I would actually prefer a "long-term" wear review, instead of cutting them. Hope do they feel after 300 miles? Still supportive? Etc. :)

Unfortunately you’re going to have to cut them👀

Your work has helped me and my evile stepdaughter make better choices for boots. We aren’t shopping hi end but she chose Solavair and I chose the RW 1907. We both are exceedingly pleased. Great work!

I cannot say enough good things about RMs. I have 2. Those 2 are definitely the 2 shoes I would keep if I could only take 2. The moccasin design alone is insanely more comfortable than goodyear welted boots.

What about Gokey boots. They've been making boots and shoes in the USA since 1850 and they have a larger range than Russell and actually have things in stock. They specialize in moccasin hunting boots, but also do chukkas, work boots and boat shoes and oxfords.
@TylerSnyder305Күн бұрын
You should check out some Footwear by Footskins for a budget friendly American made true moccasin. Their canoe sole moccasins are very well made and an incredible value, I'd say they're as good as anybody. With their walking boots however they don't offer them in their best leather or sole option, but if you were to draw some attention to them they might be tempted to offer a model of walking boot in their best boot appropriate leather and a better sole in collaboration with you. We need a proper yet value priced American made true moccasin boot, and you could make it happen if you give Footskins some spotlight.

I can buy a pair of Thursdays boots, Red Ranger, and White Perry select for the price of one of these. Same reason I own 3 Hondas and not a Porsche
@adamr6322 сағат бұрын
Of course, but not one of those boots is really suitable for the use that these Russells are. I don't get the point of making comparisons of boots that have different intended performance and uses. Besides, who needs 3 Hondas anyway when you can have a Porsche? ; ^ )

I'd love it if they made these in a tanker pattern with a strap instead of laces, also if Jim Green made a running shoe out of leather like they do their boots, I would never buy any other shoe again, but theirs.

Thanks to your videos, I bought my first pari of Russell's for $175 from ebay.. They are a vintage pair of backcountry's from the 1970's that were in Japan. I had them resoled with Vibram and re-laced and couldn't be happier. Crazy that a 50yo boot is so supple and wearable....

Dude Boker are amongst the biggest players in the knife industry. They're huge in Europe and sell $30 million dollars worth of knives a year.
@adamr63Күн бұрын
Amazing boot! They make the more rigid soles for high mountain use, or rocky terrain, etc., typically with a built in rocker, like this one and the Big Cambo, which is their beefy 5" boot. No shanks in any of them as far as I know, they use different midsoles types and thicknesses for more or less rigidity.
@MichaelVarlottaКүн бұрын
Boker's social media is a little misleading. Boker is actually one of the bigger "players" in the knife industry. They have been around forever and have probably made over a thousand-ish knife designs through the years. I would consider them an OG knife manufacture.
