In today’s deeply moving episode, we sit down with Michelle, a Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Death Doula, to hear her powerful story of overcoming unimaginable loss. Michelle tragically lost her son, at age 29, to COVID-19, an experience that would reshape her life and ignite a passion for helping others navigate grief and loss. Through her work as a Death Doula, she now helps families and individuals facing the most difficult moments of their lives, offering guidance, comfort, and a safe space to process their emotions.
But Michelle’s story doesn’t stop at the loss of her son. She opens up about the challenging childhood she faced growing up with a mother who struggled with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and an alcoholic father. As the eldest child, Michelle became a protector for her younger sister, enduring trauma and instability that no child should have to face. In 2016, after years of deep reflection and therapy, she began the process of healing her inner child, reclaiming her strength, and finding peace in the chaos of her past.
Today, Michelle is a beacon of resilience, using her own experiences to guide others through their grief. Her journey is a testament to the power of healing, vulnerability, and the importance of transforming pain into purpose. Through it all, Michelle has come to understand that compassion, both for herself and others, is a gift she now gives freely.
Join us for an emotional and inspiring conversation about loss, healing, and the transformative power of compassion. Michelle’s story is a powerful reminder that no matter how heavy the burden, resilience and hope can shine through.

This one hit me hard. Accepting that some people can no longer be allowed in your life because they won't respect your boundaries and do nothing but cause trauma and manipulate is really hard to do when I come from a broken home and family. The PTSD is very real and Michelle stating how it feels when raised voices are directed at them is something that I understand all too well. Thank you for sharing Michelle. 💜
