I agree on the tattoo. I’ve never, ever seen a tattoo on someone and thought “that’s beautiful” or “that’s cool”. It’s usually the thought that the tattoo removes some of their beauty. I see it as a minus not a plus.

I will be 70 in a couple months. I have ridden/driven a motorcycle, shot guns, floated the Grand Canyon and The Salmon (River of No Return) rivers, ridden a helicopter, backpacked, tent camped, skied, and more. I cannot or will not do almost all of those again. If there is a time for every season, now is my season for less strenuous, and quieter, endeavors. Cruises to Alaska, train rides across Canada, car tours from the Florida Keys up to New England for the Fall leaves. I read War & Peace, Crime & Punishment, and the Dune, Harry Potter, Outlander and the Thomas Covenant Chronicles. Don’t need another long series either. Mainly, I want to do just what I want to do now, and not what my younger self thought of doing. Age well my friends!

Anti List: Caving/Spelunking, Scuba Diving, being on a "Reality" TV Show, Walking on Coals, Botox, Burning Man, Ballon Ride, Car Racing, Space Ride, go on anymore Carnaval Rides...maybe a Ferris Wheel, Zip Line, Storm Chase, spend a night in an Ice Castle or for that matter do an ice plunge on New Years, Hot Pepper Challanges or even a Hot Dog eating contest, are a few more that I would add to the same things that are on your list. Great topic!

I’m very conservative with traveling, even though I’m only 44. I went across Canada as a kid and as a teen a few times with family who loved road trips and flying, and we visited Toronto and Montreal all the time, camped in Algonquin… I won’t travel any distance further than 2 hours again in Canada again, now that I’m an adult. I’ll never take a domestic flight again, not even even for funerals (the worst possible reason to travel, imo, and it should be socially acceptable for people to skip any and all funerals or weddings that aren’t taking place in the town where you reside).

Jen, I adore you. That was the best video! I'm 65, and can honestly say that everything on your anti-bucket list, is on mine. You had my laughing so hard. No way I'd jump out of a plane and skydive nor bungee jump, which my daughter has done. No tattoos for me, though the same daughter who bungee jumped, got her 1st tattoo when she was 18 (without my knowledge), and at 39, she's covered from the arms down. I'm not climbing any mountains. I've been in Vegas just for a layover, and I hated just being in the airport for 3 hours. Slot machines everywhere. I'd much rather spend my money on a nice piece of jewelry too! I'm usually in my pajamas and in my bed by 8, and hopefully asleep by 9, since I'm up by 4. I traveled alot before my divorce, so there's no place that I'm dying to go to. I just want to stay healthy enough to watch my 2 year old grandson grow up. By the way, my daughter, the adventurous, tattooed one, is an incredible vegan chef, who was on Beat Bobby Flay, and she did. Her IG page is quite interesting, and 90% of her customers aren't vegan. Feel free to check her out. On my bucket list as well, would be to eat her meals everyday! @missrachelspantry Thank you for sharing your video. We could be wonderful friends!❤❤😊

I am 59 years old and I love that you call it an anti-bucket list. I just made a list of things I called the things I never need to do. My list and your list are extremely similar. I never have the need to go on an ocean cruise, although I know you have done that. And I have been a passenger on a motorcycle two times and both times I was injured so that didn’t turn out well. One time I burnt my leg on the muffler and another time the driver was passing on the right moving very slowly, but we, ran into a car and injured my knee. Anyway, things that you did not say or on your anti bucket list that are on mine would be hot air balloon ride, scuba diving, karaoke, zip line, and parasailing. And as far as getting a tattoo, like my 30 year-old son says just get it on a T-shirt and wear it when you’re in the mood And guarantee you won’t always be in the mood so why would you get a tattoo that you could never take off? Loved this list.

Oh girl....I'm with you on every single thing on this list EXCEPT two. Vegas: There is SO much to do, even if you don't gamble (I do but shouldn't), drink (I don't), or stay out late (nope). I took my daughter on a trip there when she was 9 or 10, and we saw shows, went to the zoo and aquarium, swam in the pool, and ate a ton of good food. Definitely recommend! Tattoos: You are correct; it does become an addiction :-) I absolutely love mine. I'll also say that I have been the unfortunate recipient of not one but TWO awful pieces. I not-so-affectionately referred to them as my "prison tats" until I had them removed. And I promise you, it was exponentially more painful (and expensive) having them lasered off than it was having them put on, so I don't recommend it for anyone who isn't fully committed!

I started a reverse bucket list. Things I've already done, but as I limited it (so far) to things that I had also wanted to do and not just gone along with, I haven't gotten very far with it. It could include riding a motorcycle, but that was just part of my childhood and no big deal at the time. And a hot air balloon ride, again as a youth and not my idea but fun. Maybe I should just expand it to include all the things.

You helped me add some to my list. I was hanging Roman shades and nodding my head in avid agreement about puffer fish. Hadn’t thought of it! It’s securely added. I nearly fell off my ladder howling with laughter when you mentioned the motorcycle. I was talking out loud to myself about the fish and my favorite hobby, my motorcycle, in a little debate with myself, and then your next topic was ride a motorcycle. You’re right, it’s risky. I don’t disagree at all. I think about the risk a lot, but I do love it. My BFF rides a trike, and we’re both retired now and have long distance trips planned for Autumn. This was a fun discussion.

Agree with everything on your list. I have gone to Vegas, wasn’t that impressed. No desire to go back. Plus I don’t want to gamble my hard earned money away.

This is great. As a 58 yr old, entering a new journey in my life, Life is way to short, As women, we can trust ourselves and decide how we love to live. I agree with you wholeheartedly, what everyone is doing, is not always "the fun things to do" I do not enjoy Vegas!! Ive been. Im with you! there is no allure. It is designed to take your money & keep a person duped. Our lives as more mature women have sooooo many more options, I love cruising!! and being pampered. I need all extra funds for my future Journey...

I lived in NYC for 12 years and never did New Years in Times Square. At one point I lived around 15 blocks from there and didn’t go. I agree with you on the trekking thing too. I can walk 10+ miles a day, but sustained inclines just do me in! I see a lot of KZbinrs walking the El Camino right now - nope.

We share #1. I was already thinking that before you started the rundown, lol. I had to read Anna Karenina for a Russian lit class. Just because something has been declared a "classic", doesn't mean it's a good read. I watch Sydney's fireworks for New Year's. 5 am on the 31st if you're on Pacific Time. It's a mid-summer celebration there, so it's a lot more fun. The reason I've never gotten a tattoo is because I know what my grandparents' skin looked like when they got past 80, and yeah, a tattoo would look horrific on me when I'm elderly.

I'm right there with you on all of these. On New Year's Eve. my ideal is to watch a marathon of Start Trek or Twilight Zone episodes and then hit the hay by 10 PM. No late nights or boozy hangovers for me either. I was a big runner through my 40s, but I never had a desire to run a marathon. Love your channel!

I also did English. I shrieked with laughter about your indignation with Anna Karenina! My limit was a bad first chapter. If the author hadn't hooked me there, he was out. My husband was more dogged and would say things like well, it really improved after chapter 5...

I love Vegas myself - there is something so over the top about it that I always enjoyed when I visited. Gambling was a very small part of it... But most other items you noted are also on my anti-bucket list (which didn't have a name until I watched your video). I enjoy your channel 😊

Like your brother I also have 1 tattoo, don’t plan on any more. My 1 is a Canadian maple leaf. I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland, but moved to the states when I was 20, which means I’ve lived there longer than I lived in Canada (now 69). I felt a need to express my Canadian identity, not unhappy with my decision at all! Enjoy your channel, thanks.

Some things that were but are no longer on my bucket list - Mardi Gras in New Orleans, walking the Appalachian and Camino trails. I completed a marathon weeks before I turned 37. I’m 60 now and exercise an hour a day but no longer feel it’s wise to push my physical limits, like doing a triathlon, for example. I’ve yet needed surgery for anything other than dental, and hope to keep it that way for as long as possible😊 For my next vacation to Las Vegas I do plan to do my first zipline! Got caught in a riptide in my late 40s during Hurricane season and almost drown. And have swam in several oceans during lightning storms. Stupid, I know. I still swim in the ocean but only in clear, calm water and stay close to the beach. Love Cozumel!

Agree with almost all of your items! I did Las Vegas only as part of a bigger trip to the Grand Canyon. I'm also not a big gambler, but I did enjoy the sights and the Cirque du Soleil shows! I would go back to see all those! And I have a few tattoos, and plans for more!

I love the idea of an Anti Bucket list. I too have missed the window on some of the hikes you mentioned. I really know if they had been important to me I would have done them long ago. I too now would take a train to Machu Picchu. Glad to hear there is one. In my 20's to late early 50's I was a runner. I did a few marathons and many races and just ran for fun. I cycled and swam a lot as well. so happy I did that then as I loved it and was never injured. I stopped early 50's and started walking. It felt right for me. Also I do yoga which I love. I too will not ride a motorcycle as that time for me has passed. I thought about it however never pursued that. Just not interested. I love to travel so that is my passion and I do lots of that. I have even camped a bit on my travels loved it however not the way I do it often. thanks for the video and I am going to look more at my anti bucket list, so great. I too have books that I will never read. thanks Jen

Jen I am nearly 61 years old and agree with all your bucket list. Mostly the 1st item. I would and could never do bungee jumping. Not a height thing just totally scares me to be falling off a bridge or mountain and hanging by my ankles. Nope never 😅😊

This is a good idea. I don't have an Anti Bucket list but I do have things I will not do. Jumping from a high place for a thrill is one of those. At 66 tattoos are not my thing and I am not into it at all. Climbing those mountains is out also. I think it shows maturity that you know what you like and don't like and will not be pressured into doing just to prove something.

Felt the same about Vegas but had to go for a conference 5 years ago. I rented a car and drove out to Valley of fire which is not far and went to Red Rock Canyon(right outside Vegas) as well as the neon sign museum and did other ‘non casino’ things and it was great! Glad I was forced to go😂 I would def go back

My senior year of High School Crime and Punishment was required reading. I have to say it was one of my favorite required readings during all of High School. Motorcycle... yeah not missing much there. It is dangerous, mostly because of other drivers. Time Square on New Years Eve was horrible for me. I went with a bunch of friends... it was freezing, and some random guy groped me walking by in the crowd. Just way too many people. NY is not one I'd ever recommend to anyone. As far as tattoos, there just isn't anything I'd want on my body for the rest of my life. Henna is the way to go... change it every 30ish days. I guess there are a few things I'm anti... no jumping out of planes. I'm totally on board with no pufferfish. Probably other stuff. I just haven't given much thought to things I won't do.

Most of what you listed plus scuba diving, space travel, rock climbing, visiting certain countries, and doing anything underground. Then there's the "did it once, don't need to do it again, ever" list. That includes eating sushi, eating blood sausage, going to an opera, and going on fair rides that spin me around. I have to say though I've never been, I would go to Vegas for the shows.
