UNC Children's is back with another amazing music video celebrating 2024! Congratulations to Dr. Stuart Gold on his 35 years of service with us in pediatric oncology, and his upcoming retirement.

Dearest Dr Gold. I’ll never forget your kindness, patience, and the relationship with my granddaughter, Selia Powell, as she was going thru her treatment. You took the time to treat us, her family, so that we would not be so afraid for her. That was not an initial treatment, but from beginning to end. My heart is full watching this. I was one of many nurses who worked on the 7th floor 30-some years ago and remember hearing you before actually seeing you on the unit! Or… hearing the kids giggling as they pulled you down the hall in the red wagon up to the nurse’s station.😆 I was moved when I saw the your farewell video (amazing moves, btw) and the memories came flooding in! Thank you for valuing & respecting us nurses and making us laugh…a lot! It takes a pretty special person who can bring encouragement and humor while shedding a tear in the next moment with your patients and their families. You not only touched many lives of the kids and their families but also us nurses and other care team members. So cheers to you “Stuie Baby!” Enjoy the adventures ahead and add more tattoos to the collection! Love you and wish you well! 😊
