Man Kyrie and Luka are so smart fr. They both know Luka is hurt & not the same on offense, but OKC still respects him enough to send doubles and help on him all night so they’ve been not only finding PJ non stop for wide open 3’s, but they also have been exploiting OKC when they put Shai on PJ. Shai is way too small & not athletic or strong enough to guard PJ on the low post so they’ve been posting him up. Then Kyrie man.. the defense has been incredible, he knows when Luka is in his zone, and knows when he’s tired so the load falls to him. Kyrie takes over whenever Luka is either frustrated or tired. He knows Luka has been hurt & takes over when he needs to but at the same time has been feeding PJ and Josh Green who have been hitting their open 3’s. If DJJ could shoot the 3 ball, the Mavs would be just about unbeatable. He also gets tons of wide open 3’s but he just can’t hit them. 1/10 tonight but still played solid. Unreal defense and underrated rebounding. Shame Luka is hurt because man the Mavs could actually win it all if Luka is playing like his normal self. This team is gonna be extremely dangerous next year. Their future is all 25 and under besides Kyrie. Watch out for Dallas the next 5-7 years

What I’ve noticed this year in the playoffs is that PJ, Derrick Jones, Green, Exum and even PJ are also bringing up the ball across half court and they’re using screens to initiate the play for Luka and kyrie. It helps them both and stops them from getting worn out

Derrick Jones Jr and Gafford provide a huge impact on defense, you can't look at certain players by how many pts they score and judge them off that. DJJ often is guarding the best offensive player in each series, he's doing a great job on SGA and JW. Gafford is switching out onto guards and also still defending the rim. Having multiple high end team defenders is what makes the Mavs scary

Luka has taken that step this past off season. He has a trainer, and a chief to eat better. He came into this season in shape. He's taken that next step with health. However, he plays physical when he gets downhill. Also he's improved his defense steals wise. He's playing the passing lanes more. I can give you stats and stuff that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. I've been a die hard Mavs fan since '98. I can talk for days, and give you facts for days bout my Mavs. The only thing I felt y'all were wrong on is the off season preparing, his defense. Gafford is doing his thing. He's not a scorer. But he does the dirty work well. Also he's playing thru injury as well (hand & shoulder). Ocho Luka is playing with a knee sprain. Then had the hard fall on his back too. That's why he's walking like that. I love this podcast, keep do y'all thing. Thanks for showing my Mavs some love! #MFFL

It is remarkable how individuals continue to discuss Lukas's conditioning during the off-season. He diligently prepared with the Slovenian national team trainer and took his training seriously. Consequently, he achieved a remarkable season, which, in my opinion, warranted the MVP award. However, instead of acknowledging his accomplishments, there seems to be a tendency to unjustly criticize and undermine his efforts. Luka>everyone

What the fuck is wrong with these two guys they’re going off of comments. The coach said two years ago. He was in great shape this season. He is in great shape. He’s been beaten up and injured. Come on man.

Dude they brought Lively back and he hit 4 straight FT with that hack strat. I argue doing that and going into the bonus with 5 min left was a big mistake by OKC.

Ocho is getting better who know just enough to be able to hold the conversation. You can tell he’s trying to watch he’s trying to understand but he’s honest about where he’s at unlike sas you doesn’t know nearly how much he thinks he knows about basketball. I don’t care what anyone says I can tell sas don’t know what he talking bout and mostly just repeats something he heard someone say

People don’t seem to understand why pj is open and scoring more than Kai and Luka. Both of them draw the opposing players and consistently draw the double - which means players are getting opening looks. A player like Luka and Irving can turn on the heat at any moment - they are getting the others to buy in and that’s why it’s special.

OKC defense is so focused on Luka and Kyrie Irving with doubles and trapping that they forgot that those two are also ELITE passers and playmakers, especially Luka. Luka can influence an entire game without taking a shot. The worse thing you can do in the playoffs is let the ROLE PLAYERS of the opposing team get confidence and rhythm. That is exactly what OKC has done. It is complete inexperience by both the coaching staff AND the players. Now instead of OKC just playing man to man defense and playing against 2 guys averaging 30, while shutting down the rest of the lineup, they now have 3 guys on Dallas averaging 20-25ppg and one guy averaging around 15ppg in the series because they want to double and trap 24/7 while leaving others wide open. You have Luka generating 10-15 points a game for Dereck Lively alone off of lobs and deep passes in the paint. OKC is killing themselves with bad defensive strategy. Just play man to man and live with whatever Luka and Kyrie do to you. At least they will take the other players completely out of the game.
