Erika that plant is the most simple plant on earth!! I have been taking care of those longer than you have been in the world!! That plant can deal with a lot of sunlight ,it can dry out and still live. I have repotted it and cut it's roots and it still lives!! Erika it's trail and error and years!! Keep on gardening!!!

I left mine on covered back patio during winter and it turned black and died. It came back in spring bigger and more beautiful! I’ve had the same one for years now! They are very easy to take care of!

@@jacobtorres2521 I experienced something similar in New Jersey. She was outside all summer and I absolutely did not expect what a beauty this plant would be, and brought it into my unheated front porch, and we got a cold snap that came thru and I think it was as cold as -10 degrees and I almost lost the sweet thing. But I just cut back everything that looked damage and now the first new growths are almost as thick as they were prior to their cold shock and I’ve been counting the days to repot it closer to spring this bad boy is soooo root bound you can feel the huge roots bulging out in the sides of the nursery pot so wish me luck 😂

I have a P. selloum that my mom bought in 1991. They're INCREDIBLY hardy and forgiving. Literally if you want a low maintenance plant that grows big ( mine is like over 5 feet including pot ) I 1000% recommend this plant.

My Selloum is kept outside year round. I left it in the same pot for 10 years. It got watered when it rains. I decided to do the same thing. I cut her back completely. Gave the top part to my daughter. ( 50" tip to tip wide ) I repotted in a much larger pot. It's got 4 growth points and growing like crazy. It's gorgeous. I take plants off death row pretty often. I've got a bunch of beautiful flowering anthuriums and a peace lily that I have saved so far. It's fun !

🤣🪴 I can't believe you just posted this...I literally just repotted and gave my Philo Selloum/Split Leaf/Lickey Split 🙈 I just call mines Lucy..anyway im training mines to be a tree (for every new leaf trim off a old one and let the cut stem crisp and fall off, the after a year or two, your simply beautiful Selloum looks like a alien palm tree with bit lobed pillowy leaves...looks absolutely stunning..like a cross between a Plowmanii and a big lobed sexii split leaf boii...The Xanadu is so underrated, it to common for some ppl but i love mine...She was the catalyst to me going from a few plants 🪴 to over 100 🤣🤣🤣 Anyhoo...thank you sweetie, once again a fantastic video thank you for giving the split leaf 🍃 philo the attention she deserves xxx

These plants grow massively beautiful! If you don’t have the space, don’t get them or prepare for dividing! They love moisture ( leaves go limp or leathery when in need of water) loves very bright shade with dappled sun., doesn’t seem to be a heavy eater. Plant is such a rewarding plant if happy , pushes new leaves all year long! ** it will forgive you and reward you back if you give some attention *** so easy to care for such a lovely plant.

I didn't know these could take any amount of sun. I rescued two of these which had been long neglected. They were stretched out and extremely dry. I set them on the North side of my house and in just in a few hours of sunlight, the leaves got burned. So, now i know they were burned because they were not used to the sun, not because they can't take sun. thanks for the video!

I don't know if this is actually the case but i've noticed that Home Depot sells larger versions of this plant. While Lowe's sells them in a smaller pot and the foliage are also much smaller. Just what i've noticed lol. I've been keeping an eye out for one at Home Depot and i've been unlucky so far.

What do you do when the stalk is taller? Mine is about 12" above the soil level before the leaves start. And also, do I do anything with the air roots?

Support it. Whether that’s via moss poles or the stake thingys, but I always count on a good couple foot long chunk of bamboo to tie off too.

How do you tell the difference between overwatering and underwatering. Mine is having leaves turn yellow and then brown. I am not sure if it’s overwatering or underwatering. My plant doesn’t have drainage holes so I am afraid of overwatering. But I also don’t want it to get too thirsty. It also just put out a new leaf. Please help.
@Stephaniemickle Жыл бұрын
Oh you’re drowning it for sure. Your pot NEEDS drainage. It’s not allowing that soil to dry out at all and I’m not sure they’re like great or not in water. I just don’t know honestly. Don’t feel one way or the other lol but please please please don’t do all this work for your plant and then put it in a murder pot. 😂
